If you are wanting to play paly but don't want to play control, or don't have the cards for it, I highly suggest this deck, I've had great success with it. Ill go over a few of my choices that you might be wondering about.
Mysterious Challenger PogChamp
Now I decided to edit and relist this deck that I made almost a year ago(which was a deathrattle paly) with a new updated secret paly so as many people can see it, I truly believe its a good deck and Im currently on a 5 game win streak at rank 8. I've hit legend 3 times before so I will keep playing the deck and screenshot/update again if I hit legend with this. Will also be updating with tips and how decks played, plus my opinion on why I included or didn't include certain cards.
Palys back in action so I decided to upload this deck, a little late I know but my deck has some key differences from standard "secret paly" which I believe make it STRONGER especially on ladder with the decks you will be facing commonly.
Let me know what you think Ill be updating it more and giving opinion on why I made certain changes
Nice deck to play, I exchanged Tirion for Ragnaros and this is working fine for now.
I wonder if a Flesheating Ghoul could fit instead of ... Harvest?
Thank you, Timemaster. I reached legend today the first time ever - after having gotten stuck at rank 2 in the three previous seasons. I made only one modification: -1 Dancing Swords +1 Sludge Belcher. Then, without making any changes or playing any other decks, I climbed from rank 6 to legend in about 5 sessions.
Three things made reaching legend possible, I would say:
1) The flood of huntertaker decks. Like 1/3 of all matches were huntertakers, and I won about 75% of these matches.
2) The best part was playing something unique. Because of this, even some theoretically unfavourable matchups (especially priest) often made the mistakes in mulliganing and early game, because they thought they were going to face control paladin. I encountered only one other non-control pally, and even that one was something of a face aggro pally.
3) Patience. Ranks 1-2 took ages. But if you just don't worry about the losses, and keep positive, the legend suddenly becomes reachable (like today when I was 2 wins from legend, and lost 5 matches in a row).
I hope many others enjoy this deck enough to take it to legendary!
I know this is a late reply but grats man!
Love this deck. I get about a 65% win rate laddering, which was rank 14 to rank 9. Very very fun.
So I had paladin for my 5-win daily and I was looking for an aggro deck, I know it's only casual mode but just went 5-0 casual mode, not only winning, but winning every single time at 20 health or above. Not sure how this would do on the ladder, but I might even be willing to give this a go.
Playing around with this deck right now and I love it. I didn't have Tirion so I put in a second Spellbreaker for now. Great build though, i'm looking forward to tinkering with it after a few more games.
very successful so far. shot up from rank 19 to 15 all wins. :) (dat bonus win star tho)
So far I have been running this deck with pretty good success I am currently Rank 9. I am getting about a 57% win rate with this deck. 64% with coin and 50% without coin. I don't have a Bloodmage Thalnos yet is I am running a second Loot Hoarder. Vs. Hunter 33%, Vs. Druid 38%, Vs Priest 54%, Vs. Pally 60%, Vs. Warlock 62%, Vs Rogue 78% and Vs Warrior 80% Win Rate. This is out of 80 games. The key I find is setting up for the combos through out the game. IE Haunted Creep turn 2 Knife Juggler turn three attack with Creep. Also wait to use Undertaker with other other deathrattles on same turn. My main issue is with Hunters doing the Starving+Release the Hounds+timber combo, it usually wipes me out and is harder for me to get board control again. Most my loses have been at the really really late game at like 5 or less cards left in deck and really closes calls. Like one game i didn't drop either of my Avenging Wraths with like 3 cards left in deck and all I needed was 2 face damage.
lost two in a row, at rank 19...
How do you deal with the lack of card draw if your divine favor is stuck at the bottom of the deck? Unless I'm mistaken you only have 1 card draw (divine favor) and 2 cantrips (bloodmage and loot hoarder) , and 1 specialized draw (scientist)?
Secondly, I'm missing a second Avenging Wrath, and put in a second Sludge for increased defense against aggro. What would you suggest for this? I put in a stampeding kodo, with the idea of combining it with Aldor Peackeeper, or just mess with zoolock in general.
I think I'll throw the second divine back in, and try that out over another few games.
You want initial board control, best starting hand would be undertaker and some deathrattle creatures, then maybe a truesilver to round it off. Keep truesilver in starting hand most the time, if you are facing a priest keep dancing swords, they usually cant deal with 4/4s. It all depends what you are facing. If you are facing mage for example Leper Gnome is a lot worse, but its still decent if you are going first since they need to coin to kill it.
You want to play just enough creatures to keep board control while avoiding aoe, then finish the game with avenging wraths, truesilver, tirion.
I prefer Get Down over Avenge. Not really a huge difference am sure.
Avenge is pretty nuts TBH. Get Down is a 2/1 for 1 that usually only puts 2 damage on a minion but avenge can buff a minion into hard-to-kill range.
I agree with kam on this one. Get down is definitely not as strong as Avenge. There were multiple occasions where a board clear is about to happen and this stops it. I would generally play it turn 1 if I draw it and it almost always pays out.
Eh, with any deck people are going to have complaints. I remember reading a ton of "this deck sucks" under Reynads zoo. I think the amount of +1s and views outweighs the negative though.
Traded out Bloodmage for Baron Riven because it synergies better IMO and I don't have Bloodmage. My win lose was 10:7. Barely above 50% Winrate. Average deck at best.
Loot Hoarder can be a weaker draw late game. Having played a lot of games with Bloodmage Thalnos I can tell you that the extra damage on an AoE is huge for only 2 mana. I consider him one of the strongest mid-game cards available. If you draw him early you can drop him as a cantrip cheap enough or hold onto him with an AoE in your hand. That can be the difference from clean wiping an opponents board or having to make difficult trades.
"Tempo" isn't Aggro...
A tempo deck relies on the deck being able to make bigger and bigger plays as the game goes on and is dependent on the player establishing momentum that remains consistent throughout the game. Because of this, Bloodmage Thalnos can be useful either as an early drop by being a minion that gives a card, or as a mid to late drop due to the spell power and card draw makes it a very valuable card for a tempo deck. No matter when it is drawn it can do something that can help maintain momentum. Compare that to Loot Hoarder which is far less valuable when you draw it mid to late game and has nothing that can really maintain momentum beyond the first few turns. In a tempo deck Bloodmage Thalnos is a must more valuable card, however in an aggro deck which focused on dealing as much damage as possible as fast as possible Loot Hoarder is more valuable because of that extra attack. The point that I think he was trying to make is that tempo requires cards that can be effective during all parts of the game as where aggro needs cards that are generally considered to be best in the early game.
