Hi everybody, I'm Tao from France, 37 y.o., legend in standard and wild, and specialized in Shaman and Paladin deck building.
General Information :
The deck I present you today is quite unique, and is built as an anti-meta deck because it's strong against the most popular decks in Wild (Reno Priest, Jade Druid, War Pirate etc...). It's a Keleseth Tempo/Mid-Range Paladin, based on several synergies (Keleseth, Divine Shield, Weapons/Pirates, High Value Minions). I reached legend with a quite crazy WR of 76% between R15 and R5, and 65% between R5 and Legend.
As a Tempo/Mid-Range deck, you will want to give a constant pressure during the first turns, with big value minions and synergies, and beat the opponent between T6 and T10. This deck can also have very good late game, with the help of Ragnaros the Firelord, The Curator or Dinosize. His strength in high rank is also due to his uniqueness, the opponent often can't anticipate and often doesn't know how to counter.
Cards Explanations :
The absolute MVP cards of this deck are all the big value minions, including Vicious Fledgling, Piloted Shredder, Cobalt Scalebane, Cairne Bloodhoof, Sunkeeper Tarim, Bonemare, Ragnaros the Firelord and the 4 weapons.
6 × T1 is a good ratio to be able to always guarantee a good start and pressure.
Dinosize is a lot lot lot controversed, but is extremely strong in this deck, and allowed me to win many times. His biggest strength is that the opponent almost never expect that you will play it.
Loatheb is just damn efficient against Priest/Reno/Mage/Renolock etc.. I highly recommand to keep it in this deck.
[NEW] As suggested by some players, I will tell more about Sir Finley Mrrgglton hero power best choice for this deck. Except against Pirate Warrior, the best choice is Warlock, by far. If not available, you could go for Hunter or Mage, against slow decks mostly. Priest and Druid (good to upgrade weapons) are also not bad especially against tempo or mid decks. Shaman and Warrior are bad, and Rogue is the worst. Against Pirate Warrior, go for Priest or Mage or Druid.
NB : I also built a more "pirates-oriented" version of this deck, and cheaper, you can write me if you are interested in.
Mulligan :
Of course you will want to draw Prince Keleseth, and you will try to optimize the chances to draw it. Nevertheless, as the WR is very good even without Keleseth, don't always throw all your cards, and still try to keep one T1 minion (but not more), and preferably Bloodsail Corsair if you face a class with weapons. Keep also Rallying Blade if you already have a divine shield T1 and the piece. Keep also Vicious Fledgling against Priest mostly, as it's not properly countered most of time and can give you victory just by himself.
Match-Up's :
(from the best to the worst)
- Mage (Reno/Freeze) : 84% WR
- Priest (all kinds of) : 82% WR
- Warrior (Pirate) : 80% WR
- Druid (Jade or Ramp) : 74% WR
- Rogue (Miracle or Tempo) : 66% WR
- Hunter (Mid or Giant) : 62% WR
- Shaman (Token or Mid) : 58% WR
- Paladin (Dudes or Mid) : 50% WR
- Warlock (Zoo) : 42% WR
[NEW] As this deck got 10+ votes, as I promised I will write a more complete Match-Up guides very very soon ;-)
I played 20 games (Result : 15-5) just before the extension, starting Rank 12. Well this deck is actually very efficient AND very fun to play, which is exactly what we are looking for, so, thanks.
For me Keleseth has perfectly his place in this deck, for several reasons : 1) Playing a 1/1 on turn 2 is not so bad in that kind of deck 2) Having Keleseth means that you can free 4 or 5 slots and it's extremely important, so you can include many other cards or tech in the deck 3) And of course WR grows to even more than 80%+ when you start with it in hand
What a shitty deck. You just play on curve, and pray to have god draws.
If not, you can just concede by turn 5 : no draw, no comeback mechanic and no aoe. Yeah .. this is just bad.
Shielded Minibotmaybe
This deck would change a lot without Prince Keleseth so probably not
Kept deck as is. 13-3 from rank 14 to 10
Hmmm, I'm going to try this out but idk how I feel with leaving the best 2 drop in the game out in favor of an inconsistent prince. With rallying blade, keeper, tarim, bonemare and dinosize in the deck i feel that shielded minibot will almost always grant extra value. A 2 mana 2/2 with divine shield is super sticky within the first 4 turns of the game. Also, why no coghammer? In my opinion for what coghammer does is too valuable to ignore. I actually would rather have 2 coghammer in the deck opposed to 2 truesilver. But I'll remove 1 truesilver and add a cog and report back with my expirence.
Reporting back. In a total of 37 games "yes I kno, small sample size" here are my results. With leaving the deck AS IS I went 7-5. With 12 games I saw prince before turn 6 3 times so I made some changes. My changes pretty much go agianst the purpose of the original deck but I was able to finish 16-9. My changes were remove prince/1 truesilver / dinosize / Argent squire and add 2 shielded minibot, 1 cog hammer and 1 blessing of kings.
nice deck! I'm only missing Loatheb and Ragnaros :c any replacement? was thinking about azura drake and lich king? also have tirion, and bolvar...
Both of the cards you're missing are very key to the deck and hard to replace. But if you absolutely must try the deck out then you have a good bit of sub options depending on what u see most on ladder. We'll go ahead and add Dr boom in one spot so we can go ahead and focus on the other sub. I believe what you need here has to something that's immediately proactive. If you're facing alot of weapon classes, "pirate warrior, tempo/oil rogue, shaman or other pally" I recommend adding either 5 drop Jones pi or gluttonous ooze. If you're facing alot of control decks then I recommend a 2nd keeper of uldaman, 1 aldor peacekeeper or even 1 equality for that matter. And the last card I recommend would be the 6 mana pally buff spikeridged steed. This buff can the hybrid of the subs meaning you will get great value among alot of different archetypes.
Oh, sorry I forgot to mention that if you have coghammer to remove 1 truesilver for 1 coghammer. 2 & 3 weapon attack is perfectly fine in the current meta. I'm actually going to test taking out BOTH truesilver for 1 kings, 1 coghammer
Im only missing Patches i replaced it something but i dont remember what. Any suggestion? Love the deck thanks
tirion
Thanks very much for your video !
It helps very much to demonstrate the principle of the deck, and glad that you like it ;)
that meme deck(just looks like meme) actually working? Can't test rn cuz wanna do golden priest
damn, such a good deck. no one play around dinosize, ty
Nicely done my friend! It's been a looooong long time since I had seen a deck so refreshing like this one!
Thanks for sharing!
Hi, i'm going to play your deck although you win me tonight with another pally ;)
I strongly dislike Cairne Bloodhoof in this deck due to his incredible slowness and lack on draw power to keep him in hand long enough without losing something important. I replaced him with Wickerflame Burnbristle - to me he looks a lot better. Cobalt Scalebane and Dinosize appreciates this tech. I wonder, why you decided to keep Cairne Bloodhoof while you have a better alternative in several ways?
Thanks for the feedback. Your arguments are good, nevertheless for me I really recommend Cairne Bloodhoof, mostly for its huge Value (one of the best of the game imo), and because he remains to AoE, and insure a minion to Bonemare eventually the next turn.
This is also what I noticed. Cairne is one of the power cards against priest, I think this deck would do a lot worse without it. Unbuffed cairne has 4 attack which is already solid against priest, couple it with the fact that it survives a lightbomb and spawns another minion when dragonfire potion drops it's really solid. If he's buffed he will even survive a dragonfire. And like you said, the synergy with bonemare makes me think this card is a must-have in this deck.
