Elemental Midrange Legend October 2017
Hi, I'm Wololo and I bring the deck that carry me to Legend this season. This was my third time legend with Shaman (Midrange, Token and now Elemental). I like it because is fun to play and play against (you don't feel like the deck plays itself).
Proof:
As you can see, the version in the pics have two Doomsayer, but it was only a tech against aggro in the last rank. The ORIGINAL VERSION, which I think is a bit more versatile had instead Bloodmage Thalnos and Lightning Storm. I put them both and you can choose what works you better.
Edit: Because of the high numbers of cancerous prince decks even in Legend, I decided to keep running the 2 doomsayer I used as techs from rank 1 to Legend.
It has near 70% winrate, could be better but I made some littles misplays sometimes. But at least I learned from them and can give you some tips, for who needs them:
1) Mulligan for your early curve (max 3 mana): Fire Fly, Jade Claws, Flametongue Totem, Maelstom Portal(if aggro , or with Thalnos), Doomsayer (if you ran him), Tar Creeper and sometimes Devolve (If you go second). Don't be greedy at least you are sure of the matchup.
2) Choose wisely between Tempo and Value: Sometimes, tapping and keeping cards can help you latter (to avoid AOE's and to use them when are really necessary), but sometimes not playing a card in curve can lose you the game and you never get to play the card you keep. If you have a golakka and they don't play a pirate in turn 2 I would play it the same, because whats matter the most is BOARD CONTROL. The same to an early life saving Devolve or AOE. But if you can, try keeping "Direct Damage" (like Jade Lightning) to when you really can need it.
3) Keep in mind the position of your minions for Flametongue and sometimes to avoid things like Meteor or Garrosh DK when possible.
4) Use a tracker or try to know what cards played and can play your opponent, and how that affects your game. You can't always play around everything, but I sometimes lose to things like a rogue playing Kalimos (from Swashburglar) or a paladin playing a thug-life Deathwing.
5) Most of the time you control board, to avoid punishment from things like Bonemare, but sometimes you have to pressure face. Keep in mind possible lethals with Bloodlust, flametongues and direct damages.
6) Sometimes you lose from your misplays, and sometimes by draw or luck. Learn what you can and keep playing, getting Legend is only a matter of time, enjoy the game.
Edit: I forget, against druid, priest and other controls be wise with your board. Play around AOE's and removal from them, and Mind Control Tech and Spreading Plague from druid. Devolve is a card you want in this matchups.
As I said, against priest try to have minions with 4 attack and minions with 6 or more health, like a Servant of Kalimos (4/5) and a Blazecaller (6/6). So either their Dragon potion or the DK don't have so much value.
Keep your Lich King until they play they removals, as much as you can. Once they spent their AOE, go wide for Bloodlust if you can. Against druid or you have 3 big minions on board, to avoid MCT, or have a wide board so it's have less chance of give them something good. But if you choose this last option, be aware of the Plague. That's why you would want a Devolve + Maelstrom Portal or Bloodlust for lethal.
Against warlock and warrior play around their aoes and trade low health minions that activates thieir Defile/Brawl or dies to thier combo whirling effects.
Keep always at least a plan B if you already have a board, don't overcomitte to a heavy AOE, (including Deathwing in meta paladin), except you accept risking everything for a lethal.
And everything you don't have in this deck, you can replace it with Bloodmage Thalnos, Lightning Storm, and Mana Tide Totem or Stonehill Defender.
Edit 2: I include the DK because some people are having a lot of control matchups in this meta it seems, and because its fun (why not xD)
Ask if you need something, see ya!

Any replace for Kalimos, Primal Lord
Replacement for Lich King?
Thalnos, or Mana Tide Totem
Cancer? It's a meta man! This deck is kinda good but u have to stop crying -.-'
I just call the things by its name. You seems to cry about that :P
Hi dude.Give me replacement for one Blazecaller ? I have only one.Thx bro and nice day :)
Bonemare, or Jade Chieftain
Giving your deck a +1, because I've always enjoyed the elemental shaman package, and if for no other reason then to spite TheChiv. Cheers!
I crafted the 2 doomsayers but im doubtful about 0 lightning storm and no card draws :/
You can sub -1 Golakka - Bloodlust +1 Thalnos + 1 Lightning Storm
Replacement for Aya?
Another Jade Spirit ;)
Hi dude, I have every card but the 4 epic ones, and can only craft 2 of them. Which ones do you think is better to spend my dust on?
In the comment below are the alternatives, but in short would be not running doomsayer and running bonemares or jade chieftains. Try the deck that way and see if you like it before crafting anything. Good luck!
Hi there again. After playing a lot of games with elemental shaman (I don't know the exact number sorry), I have realised some stuff about your deck and elemental shaman decks in general. Before I get in to it I should say that I never tried doomsayer and Lich King so I don't have any opinions about them. Please remember that these are just my opinions. This is going to be long so take a seat.
-So the most important thing I'm going to say is THE KEY NUMBER IS 5. What I mean by that is your defensive options for your early game (cards up to 3 mana) should not be more or less than 5. It should be exactly 5 cards, no matter what you do, don't exceed 5. If you have more than 5, these cards won't have the calue to deal with control decks and if you have less than 5 it won't be able to deal with aggro decks.
The card options are: Hot Spring Guardian, Tar Creeper, Stonehill Defender, Lightning Storm, Devolve, Golakka Crawler.
(I haven't mentioned bloodmage thalnos, jade claws, fire fly, maelstorm portal, flametongue totem and mana tide totem because I have found them crucial in every possible case)
Out of these options I have found the most optimal 5 cards as: x1 Hot Spring Guardian, x1 Stonehill Defender, x1 Devolve, x2 Golakka Crawler
Here are my opinions about these cards:
-Tar creeper is pretty bad. Completely useless card against control, and aggro decks usually have answers to deal with it. The only case where it is good is when aggro decks were not lucky enough to draw the answer(s). If you really want to, use just one of this card.
- Using only one Hot spring Guardian is really good, this card is basically like Tar Creeper but better, It doesn't lose it's attack in your turn so it is more consistent damage on board, and heal is good in both aggro and control matchups. You should not go for a second one though, because heal probably won't give you much value in very early game, whereas this card comes most handy in mid game.
-Golakka Crawlers are at least somewhat relevant in control matchups and really good against aggro. I don't think I don't have to explain this any further.
- Stonehill Defender is really good. In aggro matchups, you can use its body to stall and you can search for a good taunt drop to play a turn or two later if you don't have something in mind. In control matchups, it's really good again if you can find good late game drops. Overall best choice is White Eyes for any matchup.
-There should be only one devolve in the deck, no more, no less. It is usually to play around taunts or some spesific cards such as Living Mana, Spikeridged Steed, Spreading Plague. Devolve is usually not that good against bonemare, a commonly used cards by many decks (cause devolving a 7 mana 5-5 usually ends you up with a 6-6) and it is not good against decks that swarm the board because when you devolve they still have a big board to work with anyway. But if you really like this card and think it is really good for you, ok go for it i guess.
-Lightning Storm should never be used. It is completely useless against control, and not even that good against aggro because most of the time it won't even clear the board completely and 2 overload is just too much. Unless you face aggro all the time, use one if you really want to.
Here are my thoughts about some other cards in your deck.
-Bloodlust is a dead card. This deck can't swarm the board as well as evolve shaman can, so you usually won't have a big board. The times where Bloodlust comes in handy is way too small of a percentage. When you are winning, it is usually a situation where you probably would won without Bloodlust anyway, and when you are losing, this card is just crap that you can't play for the whole game.
-Fire Plume Phoenix is again pretty bad, this card just doesn't have enough value. It doesn't give you a significant lead when you are going even or ahead, and it certainly doesn't let you catch up when you are behind.
Here are the cards I think that should be used in EVERY elemental deck:
-Fire Fly (x2)
-Bloodmage Thalnos
-Devolve (x1)
-Flametongue Totem (x2)
-Golakka Crawler (x1)
-Jade Claws (x2)
-Maelstorm Portal (x2)
-Mana Tide Totem (x2)
-Jade Lightning (x2)
-Jade Spirit (x2)
-Servant of Kalimos (x2)
-Thrall, Deathseer (x1)
-Aya Blackpaw (x1)
-Fire Elemental (x1)
-Blazecaller (x1)
-Kalimos, Primal Lord (x1)
Notice that the card numbers don't add up to 30, they add up to 24.
The cards that can be added to the remaining slots to this deck are in my opinion:
-Devolve
-Tar Creeper
-Lightning Storm (don't ever use more than one, only use if you really think it's necessary)
-Hot Spring Guardian
-Golakka Crawler
-Stonehill Defender
-Fire Elemental
-Thing From Below
-Blazecaller
-Bonemare (can be really useful, don't use more than one though)
-Jade Chieftain
-Spirit Echo (if you REALLY want to, but I highly suggest not to, for similar reasons to bloodlust)
-Bloodlust (never use more than one)
And this the deck I have found most optimal: [deck] AAECAaoICO0F+6oClL0C9r0Cm8IC88ICh8QC688CC70BgQTwB6C2Aoe8As+8AtG8AuTCAuvCAsLDAsjHAgA= [/deck]
Since I have wrote this much, I will create a guide and copy paste this lol. Good day sir.
Yes please, and put the link here when you finish it. And tell me what do you think about Lich King (in some cases can generate enough value I think but I don't know). The doomsayer was a tech against prince decks to regain the iniciative, because they snowball pretty fast. The Fire Plume Phoenix was because of the same, it serves as an early ping to stop something like a Hyena or Mana Wyrm of continue growing and lose a game, and to combine it with weapon or maelstrom to clear board. The bloodlust was because with 3 or 4 minions give damage enough for 5 mana to close games. But maybe spirit echo could works better. Bonemare and Jade Chieftain are good but aren't better the second Fire Elemental and Blazecaller? I tech a lot this deck the last season against prince and aggro decks, because they were 70% of my matchups, but I'm really interested in improve the deck in the control matchups, so put your list when you can. See ya!
Won my first two games with it. The second game went long, almost to fatigue and I really wanted Thrall for situations like this where a repeatable effect every turn would really swing the tide.
-1 Gollakka +1 Thrall.
Thanks for the deck. Seems really solid to me.
I like that change I will apply it. Thanks to you!
Gave the deck 30 games. Found it ok. The deck broke even at 50%. It seemed to struggle with both jade and big druid. Many times the deck forces you to make sub-optimal plays to get the value that is just not overly that valuable later on. As for anti aggro it works ok. I would suggest looking into hot springs to recover a bit to dance out of combo burst.... All in all for rank 3 this deck is ok. Not great, but ok. Have a much higher win rate with control warlock, big druid, and dragon priest. So if you want something different then sure. If you want to climb look elsewhere...
If the suboptimal plays are about the elemental synergy, you keep things like the firefly and tar creeper (sometimes) to combine them with other cards in the late game. The meta when I get legend was between one and two week ago, where most of the matchups were "aggro", thats why the 2 golakkas and doomsayers, but against the druids, I played as I write in the guide and did well enough. But of course if in the meta you are now all is druid then change the techs. Sub the crabs and dooms for mana tides, thalnos and lightting, or maybe hex/BGH for big druid. (if they are a problem). Try the DK, can work if you trade your big minions (elementals) with thiers and evolv them. And if all that doesn't work then yes, go for the evolve shaman, together with token druid they are their kripptonite. But when you hit the aggro wall (especially near Legend), you can trust in this deck ;) Good luck!
