Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.

I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.

I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.

If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^

Deck Introduction

Welcome back guys, having just finished posting one of my more competitive decks in the form of Exodia Mage, I decided to visit one of the less used Paladin archetypes, namely Dragonadin, and have some fun deckbuilding a competitive deck.

Usually when people think of Dragons, their mind immediately jumps to Priest simply due to the fact that they received cards like Drakonid Operative and Dragonfire Potion that essentially forced the archetype into becoming viable. Looking past that though, it is my firm belief that Paladins can also utilise dragons quite effectively as well. So without further ado let's look into some details surrounding the deck.

Card Choices Explained

Below you'll find reasoning as to why certain cards were included in the present list.

1) Hydrologist: This is a very solid card that has fantastic potential in being able to produce additional value by virtue of discovering Getaway Kodo. Further to the above, the additional discover options are more often than not quite relevant. Additionally, also works in combo with The Curator.

2) Aldor Peacekeeper: Great paladin card overall that allows you to deal with big minions and regain some tempo as a result.

3) Muster for Battle: It is a great anti-aggro tool and also works as a secondary equality activator.

4) Bone Drake: This card is fantastic in so far as allowing you to get away without including any big dragons in your deck as it, in and of itself, is an aggressively statted dragon that will very often provide you with a big drop thus extending the value.

Additional Alternate Deckbuilding Options

So instead of creating additional decklists on Hearthpawn (for the views and the clicks :p), where I just change about four cards, I decided to include the options in this decklist description so you can change them around however you see fit.

1) Standard List: So this is the current list and includes

x2 Hydrologist, x2 Muster for Battle & x1 The Curator

for a more tempo orientated play style with additional potential for value generation.

2) Wrathion List: In this list we make the following substitutions

-x2 Hydrologist & -x1 The Curator / +x2 Cathedral Gargoyle & +x1 Wrathion.

With these swaps, we are essentially trading away some value for a better early game minion and since we are losing our murlocs we are substituting our The Curator draw engine for another card that has the potential of drawing more than one i.e. Wrathion.

3) Taunt List: In this list we make the following substitutions

-x2 Hydrologist, -x2 Muster for Battle & -x1 The Curator / +x2 Wild Pyromancer, +x2 Stonehill Defender & +x1 Wrathion.

In this list we have removed hydrologists once again and instead included Wild Pyromancers who serve as our second Equality activators. Since we have the additional activators, we are free to remove the Muster for Battles and as a result add in some additional value generation with Stonehill Defenders. Much like in the Wrathion List, The Curator was cut simply because without the murlocs it's not nearly as useful.

Never forget, that you can always do a random mix and match of the substitutions as you see fit. For me personally though, I've found great success with the variants listed above.

Why are there no lategame Dragons included in the List?

Honestly, I do not feel they are necessary. They increase the curve of the deck, whereas I want to keep it at about a midrange style. You can always substitute out cards like Tirion Fordring for dragons like Ysera or Alexstrasza but please do consider that you have four lategame dragon generators in the form of Netherspite Historians and Bone Drakes.

Further to the above, if you don't like the notion of including a heavy 9 cost Dragon in your deck and furthermore do not like the idea of Tirion Fordring  then additional insanely strong options that are meant to push tempo, come in the form of Ragnaros the Firelord or good old Dr. Boom.

Always keep in mind that since Paladin has access to the exclusive Dragon Consorts you can always cheat out bigger dragons faster.

Short Mulligan Guide

You always want to keep your early game minions like Righteous ProtectorNetherspite Historian as well as possibly a single dragon (Dragon Consort is usually a Must Keep).

If you're facing aggro specifically, then you'll be wanting Equality, Hydrologist and Muster for Battle in order to equalise the board along side cards like Righteous Protector.

Control match-ups on the other hand are a tad more relaxed in terms of your mulligan. Netherspite Historian is usually the only card that is recommended to be kept.

I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)

Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
