"Wildlander"
Hi everyone, reached Legend this season with my Wildlander (Highlander) Priest. I could go further, I had 73% winrate from rank 5 to Legend, but I don't want to
-MULLIGAN-
Keep Always:
These guys are core cards and best 4 and 5 mana drops in this deck, Kazakus is so flexible card and mostly it saves your game and pushes back your opponent in early game. Raza is the second most needed card in this game, even if you face aggro decks hold it, and if you have a coin, just play it on turn 4 and heal yourself for 0 mana, 5/5 is a big threat in early game for any kind of class.
-Against Aggro and Midrange Decks-
(Face Hunter, Murloc Pal, Face Shaman, Aggro Druid, Tempo Rogue)
-Against Control Decks-
(Krullock, N'zoth Priest, Control Mage, Control Warrior)
-STRATEGY-
Two main priorities:
-Survive (The deck contains a lot of aoe spells, try to clean your opponent's board);
-Draw a card (be careful while playing Acolyte of Pain, your opponent can burn your cards).
1)It's a combo deck, BUT keep in mind that if you play against Aggro decks, forget about your combo, otherwise your opponent finishes the game on turn 5-6.
2)Draw your cards and try to find your CORE cards such as Shadowreaper Anduin and Raza the Chained. In mirror matches, you can play Excavated Evil just like that to counter Raza, Reno, Kazakus (you opponent probably has Excavated Evil in his deck)
-FAQ-
-Why not Lyra the Sunshard?
It's because Lyra the Sunshard isn't winning condition, and it is not the part of your combo. But I have another version of this deck with Lyra the Sunshard with more low mana spells so you can burn your opponent's face if you played DK and I can post it too if you ask.
-Why not Elise the Trailblazer?
Elise the Trailblazer suits well in control decks, and I tried Elise in early version of this deck, but she was unnecessary, your task is to burn your opponent's face with finishers like Spawn of Shadows and Prophet Velen, thanks to them, you can deal more than 30 damage in a single turn.
-HOW TO WIN ?-
If you have ever played Highlander Priest in Stardand, you don't need to read this.
If you have Played DK and Raza Earlier the following combo deals 28 damage in a single turn:
BUT thanks to the following cards you can deal a way more damage, you can OTK even if your opponent got 5 armor from DK:
And yes, sometimes it's better to choose 1 mana Kazakus Potion instead of 10, to OTK your opponent, Under the Velen it deals *6* damage to face and it's a great advantage while you combine it with *4* damage heropower.
-GOOD and BAD Matchups-
Bad Matchups:
Exodia Mage-
Fortunately, Exodia Quest mage is not so popular in wild so don't worry too much about it. Your deck is slow, even if you draw your Core cards, your opponent has 2x Ice Blocks and too much freezing stuff. But you can win, Dirty Rat can pull off Archmage Antonidas, besides Curious Glimmerroot can give you Ice Block .
Big Priest-
the only way to win Big Priest is playing cards by mana curve every turn by tempo to keep your opponent on pressure. Try to find Polymorph from Kazakus Spell and keep silence for Obsidian Statue. Hold Potion of Madness for Barnes, it's a good counter.
Good Matchups:
Krullock-
This deck is really good vs any warlock class deck. Krullock is slow and your opponent uses heropower to draw a card and loses health, and you can take an advantage from this and OTK your opponent without Emperor Thaurissan or Prophet Velen.
N'zoth Priest-
N'zoth Priest is slow, mostly tries to defend himself playing taunt and deathrattle minions, slowly lower your opponent's face by DK every turn, your opponent doesn't play Reno when he has 20 or more health, and 20 damage in a single turn is not a problem for Highlander Priest.
Jade Druid -
Jade druid in wild is not as powerful as in stardard against Highlander Priest. The deck contains a lot of AoE spells like Lightbomb,Kazakus Potion, DK Anduin, Dragon Potion, Excavated Evil to survive Jade Giants. Just keep drawing cards, if you find DK and Raza you win the game easily.
I hope you enjoyed the guide, if you have questions and suggestions please leave it in comments below.
Edit: Added Wild Pyromancer for me Board Control
Do you have the money and do you want legend, but do you lack the skill to do so? Here you go
You can't replace this card. The deck is constructed around Shadowreaper Anduin and Raza the Chained combination
Priest of the Feast => Greater Healing Potion. Dragonfire Potion is worth crafting. You will not regret this
If you don't like Shadowreaper Anduin then replace it with Uther of the Ebon Blade :D
That's some next level guide/description skills right there! Kudos!
Loot Hoarder
I got hard countered by a rank 1 Dragon Razakus, which was probably farming regular Razakusses. I just couldn't remove his high health dragons (dragonfire potion and lightbomb useless), Twilight Drake (4/8) etc.
You have Bloodmage Thalnos and Azure Drake, try to combine them with Lightbomb to kill 5/6 Drakonid Operative. Besides You can Silence Twilight Drake
He means one or the other. If azure is on the board you can deal with minions that have one health over attack. Or play thalnos on the same turn
A Recruiter would fit in this deck
Just reached Rank 4 (EU) from Rank 8 (1 Star). Got only 1 loss (Jade-Druid) and a heart attack when a rogue played beneath the grounds.
Since I don't own Velen and a Lightbomb I replaced them with Sylvana and Abomination - any other recommendations?
Not only, Spawn of Shadows is also win condition
Can i reach legend on this deck if i'll play 1st time in wild?
It depends on you more than a deck. If you regularly reach rank 5 (or reached Legend in standard) every season and Played Highlander Priest before then why not? The deck is high-skill required and hard to learn for those who never played Razakus. That's why it takes some time.
yeah, Deathlord is a good replacement
Hey man, nice deck,im only missing Velen and Thaurissan, unfortenetely i can only craft one.Which one do you think is more important to the deck?
Oh man! it's a tough choice. If you craft Velen, you can play Highlander in Standard too, but Velen is not as widely used as Thaurissan in Wild. Anyway for this deck Velen is one of the core cards. So If you wanna play Highlander Priest next season too, then craft it
I would not craft Emperor Thaurissan because some day you might be able to buy the Blackrock Mountain wings much, much cheaper than crafting.
Can you not just buy the Blackrock Mountain Adventure?
Awesome job man! Great guide and nice deck.
