Introduction
This isn't the classic Smorc deck (I'm sorry my face hunters brother).
You have to make smart trade with your minions and have board control.
Play around AOE card, like Defile or Dragonfire Potion, lose the board in mid game is like lose the game.
Mulligan
- Aganist Aggro
Keep card like: [card]Explosive Trap[/card], [card]Eaglehorn Bow[/card], [card]Deathstalker Rexxar[/card], keep clean enemy board.
If you are playing aganist tempo rogue, [card]Golakka Crawler[/card] is your best friend :)
Best starting hand :
- Explosive Trap
- [card]Kindly Grandmother [/card]
- [card]Animal Companion [/card]
Turn1: Summon [card]Alleycat[/card] or [card]Jeweled Macaw[/card].
Turn2: If enemy have board put your Explosive Trap on.
Turn3: bes follow up card is [card]Animal Companion[/card], keep board clear and wait for [card]Deathstalker Rexxar[/card] for close the game.
- Aganist Control
Keep card like: [card]Crackling Razormaw [/card], [card]Animal Companion [/card], [card]Bittertide Hydra[/card] and push damage every turn.
Best starting hand :
- [card]Alleycat[/card]
- [card]Crackling Razormaw[/card]
- [card]Eaglehorn Bow[/card]
Turn1: Summon [card]Alleycat[/card]
Turn2: Adapt [card]Alleycat[/card] with [card]Crackling Razormaw[/card], coose carefully your adaptations.
Turn3: Push damage play around AOE.
Been Kicking ass with this deck, I only have one Bittertide Hydra so i put in a Cobalt Scalebane and its working well, that being said if it continues to go well i might just find a way to craft another Hydra...
Yep Bittertide Hydra is strong, but Cobalt Scalebane is op if you have a strong board!
Bittertide Hydra vs. Cobalt Scalebane summed up right here!
Bittertide Hydra is a beast and Cobalt Scalebane is a dragon.
The only benefit to being a dragon is that it isn't affected by Dragonfire Potion which every single goddamn annoying jerkass razakus priest is using. (No, I'm not bitter or anything)
Hydra on the other hand has synergy with Kill Command, Houndmaster, and Crackling Razormaw, not to mention any zombeast that you might stitch together with Deathstalker Rexxar using the afforementioned Crackling Razormaw or any of the other tasty beast ingredients: Timber Wolf, Tundra Rhino, Scavenging Hyena, or Starving Buzzard.
If there was even a single Tundra Rhino in this deck it would be hands down hydra all the way. As it stands though, hydra is still better even if you occasionally use it to get 2 extra damage from skill command or houndmaster. Also of note to say that hydra is the worst houndmaster target you can pick so don't think this is a great thing. Advantage Bittertide Hydra
They are both 5 mana minions so lets look at the card text.
Cobalt Scalebane is a 5/5 and grants another random friendly minion +3 attack at the end of your turn. While this sounds great (and is great, don't get me wrong) most of your other minions are low health and will then get easily traded by your opponent on their next turn. Also if you don't have control of the board then you won't have anything to buff. Lastly its effect has the possibility to make your other minions vulnerable to Shadow Word: Death or Shadowreaper Anduin. Of all of the meta decks, it is most powerful against jade druid and handlock and not that effective against priest (sadly), rogue, zoolock, shaman, aggro druid, and other hunters. Ouch.
Bittertide Hydra is an 8/8 for 5 mana (teh value) with the downside of doing 3 damage to YOU when it takes damage. This shouldn't really be much of an issue as you are the beatdown player (at least until you play the DK) but if you play enough games with this deck, eventually you will run into a shaman playing Volcano and they will kill you with it. My best advice is to laugh and start the next game.
So although scalebane looks awesome and hydra looks terrible, I still have to give a very slight Advantage Bittertide Hydra here. If this deck was more tempo or control oriented the hydra would lose that edge though.
For the F2P players or other dust-starved individuals...
Cobalt Scalebane is a Knights of the Frozen Throne common and Bittertide Hydra is a Journey to Un'Goro epic. It's a clear Advantage Cobalt Scalebane here but it's actually worse than that. Cobalt Scalebane is a great card and Bittertide Hydra is only a good one. If you have to scrape together dust to craft epics from Un'Goro, cards like Primordial Glyph, Shadow Visions, and Vilespine Slayer are must haves for those classes. Those cards will be in practically every deck from those classes until they rotate out of standard and then even in wild and wild card using tavern brawls. Your hydras will probably sit in your collection unused as I can't recommend that they even get used currently in anything but hunter decks.
Final note: If you already have the hydra(s), then use them! They are great in this deck (even more if there was a Tundra Rhino or two hint hint). Otherwise don't craft them and stick to using scalebanes. They are good enough. ;)
Thanks i'm so proud :).
Where is bearshark, its the best hunter card rigth now.
What would you replace it with? you have a ton of 3-drops and the rest serve a specific tempo purpose...Maybe a Stitched Tracker but i found that card so key to getting a great Tempo play so i wouldnt remove it...
Yeah Stitched Tracker says: "Discover a copy of The Lich King in your deck." :)
How i can replace hydras?
Cobalt Scalebane probably best...
What Meta is this anti? It is getting destroyed at rank 6-8 by rogue, shaman, and warlock. I am 0-7 with this deck. Simply not anti-meta. Sorry = (
