Pull up a chair by the hearth!
Let me introduce myself. My gamer name is Kasai, I am from Slovakia and I gained the passion for card games with Magic:The Gathering, but let's talk about the Hearthstone. I play the Hearthstone since the open beta in January 14. I have multiple accounts on both EU and US servers. I reached Standard and Wild Legends several times, but I am not really fan of meta power-grinding as I rather think about cool and fun deck ideas.
Despite the Fact I am not the F2P player, but we, who are spending our money on the Hearthstone, we need you! Without F2P players would game as it is die since you are the wast majority of the Hearthstone community. My priority on the HearthPwn is to bring you guys playable F2P decks. I am making those time to time when I get new idea, sometimes just budgetized meta decks and sometimes the whole new archetype. All of them are well synergized and viable for casual play, quests or even climbing the rank 5 and higher if you are patient enough.
Feel free to follow, comment or add me in game. I have all of my recent F2P decks in my decklist so if you want to ask anything about playstyle, mulligan or general tactics, go for it. I will write all of those if the deck gain some popularity as it is really time consumpting and most of decks die in HearthPwn archive with +1 rating.
Yours Kasai
Even though this is a little more expensive deck than my other F2P, it still is cheaper than a single legendary and moreover, it can pretty much compete with any meta deck.
General Matchups Guide
Aggro Matchup
(Including Midrange Hunter, Prince Rogue, Evolve Shaman, Aggro Druid, Murloc Paladin)
Having a board dominance is essential here. Don't waste turn on Grimestreet Outfitter if opponent already has something on board and you can't trade it. Playing Smuggler's Run on turn 1 is also arguable as sometimes it is better to have body on board. You can also consider mulligan them away.
Wise trades are key to victory. Don't be greedy and sacrifice that Murloc Tidecaller if it gains you a board.
Discovers
Eye for an Eye - just forget it, I can't really imagine a situation when this could be more usefull than other secret against any Aggro deck (Mortal Strike or Kill Command to draw match maybe ... but what are the odds?)
Getaway Kodo - Great to have your Battlecry minion back. Bait opponent to trigger it by killing Grimestreet Outfitter or any Battlecry Murloc except for Coldlight Oracle (you don't really want your Aggro opponent to draw 2 cards)
Noble Sacrifice - Possibly the best secret against Aggro. Can really screw those Leeroys.
Redemption - Even better over Noble Sacrifice if you have Righteous Protector on board. Could also bring your Murlocs to life to buff Murloc Tidecaller, but yet not too synergized with a buff strategy of the deck.
Repentance - Mostly useless against Aggro, viable if you have strong feeling of Bittertide Hydra comming.
Stonehill Defender - If you have the choice pick Wickerflame Burnbristle - it is great against Aggro, even more with your handbuffs. Sunkeeper Tarim is also a great choice if you have board dominance. Tirion Fordring and The Lich King are fine, but I wouldn't pick them on turn 3 against aggro as it is really risky. If you have no legendary choice, then go just for a cheap high health minion.
Primalfin Lookout - Your primary discovery should be Coldlight Seer if you have 2 or more murlocs in game no matter that you can pick Murloc Warleader or Finja, the Flying Star. The reason is simple. You need health to make a good trades. Sure in case you need an attack you pick Murloc Warleader and if you need to fill the board you pick Finja, the Flying Star. Discovers are mainly about answers. You need 2 extra damage, well pick Bluegill Warrior or even Grimscale Oracle. You shouldn't always blindly pick the rarest drop.
Mulligan
Righteous Protector - Awlays
Murloc Tidecaller - Always
Rockpool Hunter - If you have 1-drop Murloc
Hydrologist - If you have any 1-drop
Smuggler's Run - If you don't have 1-drop, but you have 2-drop
Grimestreet Outfitter - If you have no other turn 2 play from hand
Grimscale Chum - If you have 1 or 2 mana Murloc
Coldlight Seer - If you have at least 2 Murlocs avaliable to play within first 2 turns
Primalfin Lookout - If you have at least 2 Murlocs avaliable to play within first 2 turns
Stonehill Defender - If you have turn 1 and turn 2 play from hand
Control Matchup
(Including Secret Mage)
Control decks usually run lot of removals so don't play your minions blindly as you would run out of steam in turn 7 if you do. Always prioritize buffs over drops and play around AOE and specific removals (Shadow Words, Mortal Coil, Volcanic Potion etc., ) and if you don't need to risk all-in, play around counter-boardspam like Spreading Plague or Mind Control Tech, if you do, you have really big chance to end it before turn 7 as tempo of this deck is really high for a midrange deck (it's more like Aggro Midrange deck though). In these matchups is essential to know your opponents deck, more than actual play. Just watch few streamers or youtube videos and you will get into it in no time. Always use Truesilver Champion for trading if you have a chance.
Discovers
Eye for an Eye - very situational, mostly against quest mage if you have suspicion that your opponent already have combo, or maybe even against Highlander Warlock to peel him more with his own AoE damage.
Getaway Kodo - Don't use it when you have bad minions on board as you can prepare for your opponent to ping something like Silverhand Recruit just to test your secret.
Noble Sacrifice - Good enough if your opponent is going on board with big threats
Redemption - Same as Getaway Kodo. Great secret but play it wisely
Repentance - Very powerful if you know what is comming. Especially against Highlander Warlock and Handlock with their dragons and giants.
Stonehill Defender - The best choice is possibly Tirion Fordring (only weakness is transform removals) and The Lich King (you will get value from him always, well, almost always, just dont play him into Potion of Polymorph though). Sunkeeper Tarim is fine too if you are loosing board control to try to comeback.
Primalfin Lookout - Mostly buffing murlocs, but you can also try to burn your opponent with Coldlight Oracle. It is pretty fun to watch Raza the Chained on fire :)
Mulligan
Murloc Tidecaller - Always
Smuggler's Run - Always
Hydrologist - Always
Grimestreet Outfitter - Always
Righteous Protector - Awlays
Rockpool Hunter - If you have 1-drop or 2-drop Murloc
Grimscale Chum - If you have Murloc
Coldlight Seer - If you have at least 2 Murlocs
Primalfin Lookout - If you have Murloc
High-end replacements
Vilefin Inquisitor for Grimscale Chum
Dinosize for Frostwolf Warlord
Murloc Warleader for Coldlight Oracle and/or Primalfin Lookout
Gentle Megasaur for Frostwolf Warlord
Bittertide Hydra for Frostwolf Warlord
Sea Giant for Frostwolf Warlord
Wickerflame Burnbristle for Primalfin Lookout
Sunkeeper Tarim for Frostwolf Warlord
Tirion Fordring for Frostwolf Warlord
Genzo, the Shark for Coldlight Oracle
Finja, the Flying Star for Frostwolf Warlord
Leeroy Jenkins for Frostwolf Warlord
Don Han'Cho for Frostwolf Warlord
The Lich King for Frostwolf Warlord
If you want to add more than one High-end replacement and there is a conflict in the list, just let me know in comments bellow and I will try to help you. Doing a replacements in all combinations would be, you know, pretty impossible :)
Actually preparing a winrate and matchups stats. This deck became pretty popular so I decided to start playing 10 games daily in standard ranked ladder with this original decklist without any replacements.
Spikeridged Steed is a good choice. Not sure about Smuggler's Run remove but if it works, it works. Good luck with this deck :)
Great Murladin deck! I've been thinking about revising my own Murladin deck recently and then I stumbled across this. Thank you!
I was wondering if you would be able to help me make a couple decisions with some other cards that I have. I have everything else you list for the deck as well.
Vilefin Inquisitor, 2x Dinosize, 2x Murloc Warleader, Gentle Megasaur, Leeroy Jenkins, and The Lich King.
Thank you for your time! You're awesome, great deck!
I would go
Maybe -1 Leeroy Jenkins +1 Coldlight Oracle if you feel like you are out of steam way too fast
Thanks for the quick response! I’ll make a couple adjustments and let you know how it went.
Hi and thank you!
Indeed, all those cards would be way too greedy. I sugest you to do this:
-2 Frostwolf Warlord
-1 Primalfin Lookout
-1 Bonemare
+1 Tirion Fordring
+2 Murloc Warleader
+1 Dinosize
I read the mulligan notes, so Its good to use smuggler in first turn if don't have cost 1 ?
It is great to use against anything except of aggro on turn 1.
If you don't have 1-drop and you are against aggro, well use it, but you will still have a bad time.
Obviously use it when you buff at least 2 minions with it. 3 or more is ideal. 1-cost 1/1 buff to one minion is just a big waste.
I have Leeroy, 2x Hydras, WicklerFlame and 1x Dinosize. What can I replace ?
-2 Frostwolf Warlord
-2 Primalfin Lookout
-1 Bonemare
You can also consider keeping Leeroy Jenkins on Mulligan if you are facing slow control decks and you have some early plays. It could be a nice shock for your foe if you play 10-6 charged 5-drop out from nowhere :)
Hi,
I liked your deck because. What could you recommend to replace with two Bittertide Hydra, The Lich King and two Gentle Megasaur? Would it make sense at all to make all those changes?
Sure, those changes would make curve even smoother.
Go for -2 Primalfin Lookout, -2 Frostwolf Warlord and -1 Bonemare
Heya,
I have recently playing hearthstone and as soon as I used your deck I loved it. I registered mainly to thank you for your deck!
Keep up the good work.
I've adapted this slightly after playing some games and I've been running this with much success:
In your opinion, does The Curator provide a good enough benefit to be included here? Maybe in the Grimestreet Enforcer's stead?
Great deck and thanks for your contribution to the budget community!
I was actually experimenting with Grimestreet Enforcer in the beginning but I've never get a decent value from him, that's why I haven't include him, The Curator is basically 4/6 draw 1 card 7-drop which is not too whoah. But maybe if you include Bittertide Hydra or Gentle Megasaur and Cobalt Scalebane it could have enough value.
I had considered the Gentle Megasaur and Cobalt Scalebane as increasing the Curator's value previously, unfortunately I don't have them. I'll probably endeavor to get those next, however.
My answer si no.
I tried some AoE and removals in the test phase and I come to conclusion, that it is not worth at all. You have enough minions to control the board without any spells at all. It is awfull if you have Smuggler's Run on Mulligan and you get something like 3 spells beside it.
I have two Hydra, Lich King, Tirion, and Leeroy. How can I upgrade this deck further?
-1 Primalfin Lookout
-2 Frostwolf Warlord
-2 Bonemare
I hope it won't be too greedy deck, please let me know how it works for you
I have 2x Bittertide Hydras and 1x Leeroy Jenkins. What else should I replace besides the 2x Frostwolf Warlords?
-2 Frostwolf Warlord
-1 Primalfin Lookout
Because I think that Leeroy Jenkins is good enough answer for a lot of either offensive and defensive situations.
