I.Introduction

Good day to all! You might remember me from before, the one who created the Naga Hunter Deck back in the League of Explorer days. I just came back to Hearthstone when I heard that the Knights of the Frozen Throne was good. So here I am making another interesting hunter deck to spice the lives of hunter mains and those who still like playing hunter (and those who are looking for a deck to put their new Deathstalker Rexxar).

Hunter is a class which excels in the early to midgame but eventually runs out of steam after some turns, hunter class lacks decent card draw so eventually come late game you draw your low cost cards which can’t benefit you much in that stage of game.
So I thought of adding Hemet, Jungle Hunter to the deck so all upcoming draws would be of greater value this too increases your likelihood to draw some more win conditions from your deck such as The Lich King which gives you Death Knight cards to win your game. Lastly, I love how Deathstalker Rexxar could create some amazing plays and if you are good (or lucky) with creating your zombeast then it could help you wreck your opponents too.

Here’s a gameplay video by Kiwiinbacon. Thanks man!

II. Customize Your Deck (CYD)

Currently, I have 3 configurations for the deck that you might want to try!

1. Hybrid setup

This is the setting I use at the moment and has been teched to counter current meta matchups. *This is what you see in the list right now.*

2. Beast setup

This setting of the deck utilizes the beast synergy available to Hunter class.
See the deck below:

3. Deathrattle setup

This setting on the other hand goes for the deathrattle synergies available to hunters.

III. Card Choices

Hunter Cards

  • Alleycat: Great beast to start off a match. Good for activating cards such as Kill Command or even Nesting Roc and of course if you have nothing else to buff using Houndmaster or Bonemare. This also serves as two pieces of food for the Starving Hyena.
  • Crackling Razormaw: This card can make wonders, it can buff most of the cards in the deck. Remember to choose wisely.
  • Kindly Grandmother: This card has great value being a 2 mana 4/3 take note that this is a beast and can be comboed with Tundra Rhino to deal its full 4 damage on an enemy.
  • Scavenging Hyena: This card can easily become out of hand if your opponent lacks the removal for it. Best comboed with Unleash the Hounds where it could get much food.
  • Animal Companion: This card is a bit RNG-based but still good if you get a good roll on what you need. Remember, Leokk can be useful too (Unleash the Hounds could make many 2/1s).
  • Eaglehorn Bow: This is a removal that will mostly help you get board control, if you don't have it.
  • Kill Command: One of the few spells I added in the deck, serves 5 damage most of the time.
  • Unleash the Hounds: Great spell overall. Could create game changing plays and comboes well with other cards in the deck.
  • Houndmaster: This card has a very high value specially in this deck where it can buff almost all of the cards included.
  • Dispatch Kodo: This card was suggested in the comments and it actually works wonderfully well with the deck and helps in getting the board.
  • Infested Wolf: This card is something like a middle point of Haunted Creeper (R.I.P.) and Savannah Highmane. A really good card.
  • Tundra Rhino: This card can be good at times but don't rely on it too much cause it will get removed most of the time.
  • Deathstalker Rexxar: ZOMBEASTS FTW! You just need to learn how the cost of the beast will be and which effects work good together and you're good to go. Remember that the time this is played you get an Explosive Trap explosion and can help you clear the board.
  • Savannah Highmane: Probably one of the best rare cards in the game, it provides so much value.
  • Call of the Wild: Provides you with a 5/2 Charge minion, a 5/4 Taunt minion, and a 2/4 minion that buffs your other minions. Good for either finishing the game or for stalling a bit more.

Neutral Cards

  • Hungry Crab: I put this card in for those pesky murlocadins. You can easily sub a Golakka Crawler if you see a lot of pirates. If you don't see much of those paladins or warriors you can swap a Fiery Bat in this slot.
  • Nesting Roc: With the deck's ability to produce multiple minions, it is easy to make this a 4/7 taunt minion.
  • Hemet, Jungle Hunter: This card makes it possible to survive top-decking phase, makes your next draws worthwhile.
  • Bonemare: I am actually surprised at how much impact this card can give to the board. This is just so good not to put in a deck.
  • The Lich King: DEATH KNIGHT CARDS ARE SOOOO GOOD! This is just like an Ysera on drugs.
  • N'Zoth, the Corruptor: This card can provide you that finishing blow come late game.

Alternatives:

Hungry Crab > Fiery Bat
Hemet, Jungle Hunter > Tracking
The Lich King > The Black Knight > Bonemare
N'Zoth, the Corruptor > Bonemare

IV. Mulligan

For most matchups you would want to keep the following:

Note: If you are facing a shaman or a priest, you may opt to keep Deathstalker Rexxar. You keep it against shaman to help you clear out the board. On the other hand, your keep it against priest to start making zombeasts earlier in the match.

V. Strategy/Tips

For this section, I looked into data from the trending decks according to hsreplay.net. This will help us decide how to play based on which cards the opponent will most likely keep in their hand.

As of September 8, 2017:

  • Druid - Jade

Jade BlossomWild GrowthInnervateMire KeeperJade Idol

Pressure the enemy early but don't flood the board at turn 5. Always assume they have Spreading Plague.

  • Hunter - Midrange

AlleycatCrackling RazormawGolakka CrawlerHungry CrabScavenging Hyena

Always try to clear the board to avoid their beast synergy.

  • Mage - Exodia

Pressure them early. Keep in mind turn 5 Frost Nova + Doomsayer combo. This matchup is dependent on what spells they draw.

  • Paladin - Murloc

Murloc TidecallerVilefin InquisitorRockpool HunterHydrologistRighteous Protector

Hard mulligan for Hungry Crab! Try and clear board as best as you can. Take note of their turn 4 Blessing of Kings and turn 6 Spikeridged Steed.

  • Priest - Highlander

Northshire ClericLoot HoarderDoomsayerTar CreeperShadow Word: Pain

Watch out for early removals such as Spirit Lash. Take into account Potion of Madness (e.g. you cast Alleycat turn 1 then Kindly Grandmother turn 2, this is a good target for Potion of Madness). Try not to buff minions to have 5 or more attack, take in mind Shadowreaper Anduin's battlecry.

  • Rogue - Miracle

SwashburglarBackstabEdwin VanCleefHallucinationPreparation

They lack heal, keep on pushing damage as much as you can (go face)! Keep in mind that they can use Sap and at turn 6 they can use Vanish.

  • Shaman - Jade Evolve

Jade ClawsNerubian ProphetMaelstrom PortalMana Tide TotemLightning Storm

Keep board control. Always try to clear their totems. Be careful of their turn 2 Jade Claws and Maelstrom Portal. Always keep count on their damage if ever they have Bloodlust.

  • Warlock - Control

VoidwalkerMistress of MixturesKazakusDoomsayerTwilight Drake

Always play around their AoE spells and trade efficiently. Keep in mind things such as turn 4 Tainted Zealot + Defile.

Note that it will be hard for you to clear Twilight Drake or Mountain Giant with the current setup of the deck, if you are facing more of these decks, I suggest adding Deadly Shot in the deck.

  • Warrior - Pirate

N'Zoth's First MateFiery War AxeBloodsail RaiderSouthsea DeckhandSouthsea Captain

Try to control the board and as much as possible play around their burst damage. Keep in mind that they have Spellbreaker.

Thank you so much for your time. I hope you liked the deck! If you did, please give the deck an up vote (+) and if you didn't like it please leave a comment below on how this deck can improve. Have fun y'all!
