Freeze for shamans is way too lacking atm to make Moorabi viable. So much overload in the deck, it will always be behind on tempo.

Dude, it was tier S two weeks ago when it was roughly 50% mage class cards as suggested by the Lich King.

Nowhere does he claim it to be a meta breaking deck nor does he even claim it to be competitive, it's a deck. Hearthpwn is about decks and deck building. Go do something else rather than rage on a forum about how you hate other people's idea of fun.

It could just be that I don't know how to play this deck, but sadly the deck didn't work out too good for me while playing it. A problem I had with the deck was my curve was almost never correct because of the constant overload. I found myself trying to catch back up when I fell behind but it always required using the heavy overload cards which meant I never had enough mana to follow it up with.

The synergy is there with the freeze mechanic but it just seems like something is missing to make it an actual viable deck for ranking up. Moorabi never really amazed me and seems like you have to try hard just to get value out of him.

I think it's a nice deck to play if you want a change from the other decks out there and maybe with a few changes to the list it could be better but as it stands, and once again this is probably just cause I don't know the correct way to play this deck, I feel it's just an ok deck.

yeah it's a cool idea for a deck but i don't think this list is viable and i'm assuming there's no list which is. i think this particular list has some unique problems too. flamewreathed faceless seems incredibly out of place, for example. the deck is really slow and in particular has no 3-drops with offensive stats. so it doesn't have a follow-up to faceless, and more importantly doesn't have any aggro shell to really harness the power of faceless, and it has none of the control cards that synergize with big minions. it seems like the card is just in the deck because he needed something "big" to copy. but it's not even a strong card to copy with moorabi. i think most games where you actually get to play moorabi and use its effect, you're going to want to steal minions with useful card text, not 4 mana 7/7s. something with a unique effect, or at least taunt/heal. anyway, mana tide totem also doesn't fit very well here compared to other shaman decks. maybe mana tide is considered an "auto include" shaman card in general but i think that's wrong. this deck has absolutely no way to defend a mana tide totem other than jade claws. if you can't ensure that your opponents will have to use a spell or weapon to get rid of it, then it's basically far sight without the upside. even acolyte of pain might be better in this deck. at least it has the potential to draw more than 1, where mana tide will virtually never draw more than 1. acolyte synergizes with volcano, and burst drawing is especially important in this deck because it's basically a combo deck. and most importantly it's not a 0/3 so it doesn't get value traded by 1 hp minions. i'm also surprised the deck is not playing the new 4 mana freeze spell. it looks terrible, but we're already committed to playing a terrible deck. i think this 4 mana spell could be better in this deck than lightning storm, especially because we have no spell damage cards. it gives us just one more way to activate moorabi, but it's attached to a defensive utility card rather than a 2/2 murloc which does nothing for our deck. it works better with the 1/3 weapon as well, but i think that weapon would be a good card to cut still.

edit: i almost forgot to say, i really agree that the deck has a big problem with overload. overload is alright in an aggro shaman deck, which can do more with 1 mana than this deck can do with 3, and isn't often pushed into a reactive, constrained position where it NEEDS full mana to cast removal or healing. but here i think it's really bad. you're never safe to play flamewreathed faceless because you never know when you're gonna need the mana to make a reactive play. and when you get forced to play volcano or lightning storm, the next turn you don't have enough mana to do anything proactive. even your 1- and 2-drops are reactive. the deck could benefit a lot from either going much more aggressive (in which case might as well just cut moorabi) or removing faceless and lightning storm. in place i might try a 2nd jinyu waterspeaker, a 2nd jade spirit, and 2 of the new 4 mana freeze spell whose name i can't remember. at least in theory it's a valid substitute for lightning storm, but i'm not convinced of that since i haven't tried it. it at least helps activate the 'win condition' of the deck, whereas lightning storm does not freeze, and actively hinders you from going off with moorabi by overloading your mana. but ultimately it could be that it's stronger to just run a 2nd devolve and a 2nd maelstrom portal. maelstrom portal definitely loses a lot of its value in this deck from the lack of flametongue totem and evolve. but i can't imagine this deck ever going positive against pirate warrior without 2 maelstrom portals

but in general, i think moorabi = basically a bad gadgetzan auctioneer that forces you to play 1 mana 2/1s and 2 mana 2/2s to activate it instead of cheap, efficient spells like lightning bolt, maelstrom portal, etc. auctioneer is so much better in shaman in virtually every way, and STILL sees no play in shaman except for some ultra rare malygos decks in wild. to be honest i don't think moorabi would even be played if it was a 5/5 and a mage card. frost nova + moorabi is clearly better than anything shaman can do with moorabi, but it's still just not as good as all the other tools mage already has for drawing cards or generating fireballs. the opponent has to play some pretty insane minions for you to prefer freezing & copying them over just drawing your own burn spells which most likely end the game by the time you have enough mana to play moorabi.

i think the main reason this card is so bad in shaman is that all of the freeze effects shaman has access to are very low quality and low value. so you're playing a card with a super greedy effect, which ideally is supposed to "draw" you lich kings, ayas, tirions, etc. and in order to activate that effect, you have to fill your deck with a bunch of... glacial shards and brrrlocs. right off the bat it's better to just cut out the middleman and replace these trashy freeze cards with your own lich king, aya, etc. the only reason you'd want to run these cheap, low value minions and try to "cycle" them into high value minions in the late game is so you'll have early plays against aggro. obviously brrrloc is better against pirate warrior than al'akir. but the ability to convert your glacial shards and brrrlocs into big minions is only theoretical. it is not possible at all unless you draw 1 specific legendary out of 30, and even then you would have had to save your cheap minions all game, AND wait until there's a minion worth copying on the board. it's just not consistent enough to build a deck around, unlike gadgetzan auctioneer or even just running the big minions themselves. if the RNG doesn't go your way, you end up with a very low value deck. and even the best case scenario is not any stronger than the best case scenario for a normal control shaman deck. the best result you can get from moorabi is still roughly equivalent to just playing those big minions in your deck instead. so you're playing a 6 mana 4/4 and a ton of low-value, situationally synergistic minions just to get a result that you could get by just putting inherently strong minions in your deck to begin with. at least mage has freeze cards which you'd want to play with or without moorabi. but shaman's freeze cards are terrible on their own, and the neutral freeze cards are just inefficient or low value.

I appreciate the effort, but until there are more efficient synergies, freeze is a suboptimal mechanic in shaman.

Moorabi and Icebreaker are great designs, but they need more support to become competitive cards worth of a place in a deck...

I crafted Moorabi day one because he seemed like he could be fun to me.  He is but... I really haven't had any success with a bunch of different versions of the deck.  Big hopeful feeling here... every version got completely out valued and stomped by Jade Druid.  I saw a lot of those.  With some incoming nerfs it might be able to squeak into a tier 2 or 3 deck.

Honestly, I did few tries about this freeze shaman when the expansion appeared and non seemed to work. This one, at least for me, also doesn't work. It really lacks final power and I normally get stuck at some point after 8-9-10 crystals... I'm playing lvl. 15 atm and seems quite useless. I like a lot the idea, but for some reason it doesn't really go as I envisioned when I played it, and with this version I have the same feeling. Any improvements, someone? Thanks a lot for the deck though, if it's working for others glad to hear! For me, not at all.

Cryostasis Doesn't get enough value in this deck for it to be reliably and consistently played. We tested it out, and it just did not work. If you sub in a Drakkari Defender for whatever reason, maybe also subbing in a Cryostasis isn't a bad idea, though. Cryostasis works best, I've found, with Taunts and low attack minions with lots of health.
