Hello,
this is my version of TTK Exodia Mage, which is incredibly strong on today's meta...
Vote up if you like it ;)
Introduction
Hello, I'm JaMMeX, and I'm simply no one. But I want to show a you deck, which is incredibly strong on this meta, full of Jade Druids, Control Priests or Control Warlocks...
The main strength against all of control decks is simple. You just have a lot of time to draw your combo before your Ice Block even gets popped. Your matchup is 85/15 here.
Against aggro decks, like Token Druid, Pirate Warrior or all kind of Hunters you have bad matchups, but if you can survive first 4-5 turns, then there is chance to win. All of these matchups are like 25/75 :/
This deck, is one of these "OTKs", where you have to draw a lot with Arcane Intellect, Novice Engineer, Coldlight Oracle or Acolyte of Pain ...
Your main combo is completing your Open the Waygate by spells, which are mostly generated by Cabalist's Tome, Babbling Book, Primordial Glyph or Mirror Image from Ghastly Conjurer
Then, 2x Sorcerer's Apprentice -> 1x Molten Reflection on one of these, cast Time Warp, next turn Archmage Antonidas, another Molten Reflection for Fireball from Anton, and OTK has been born...
25 Upvotes here, and its time for mulligans and matchups!
Matchups and mulligans!
Okay, since we hitted both of these goals at the same time, it will be even easier for me, to show you mulligans for every single matchup :). I will start gradually with the most played class on ladder :)
MAIN MATCHUPS :
Druid
Since Druids are slower decks, which needs more time to go on board, because they firstly ramp with their Wild Growth or Jade Blossom, you have enough time to draw all of your freezes and combo pieces. On ladder are 3 types of Druids : Aggro, Midrange or Jade...
Against Druids, it's questionable what to keep, but always keep your Open the Waygate, cause even against Aggro Druids, you have chance to beat them through your quest... I keep Doomsayer, cause Druids have poor, and sometimes really unvauleable answers, so turn 2 Doomsayer can stop them really well! Good keep is Primordial Glyph too, you can find a lot of answers against all types of Druids...
Midrange&Jade
All-in-all, against Midrange or Jade, you have almost 90% chance to win, since they are slow on board, and you simply don't care about their "value" strong cards, because Freeze solves everything! Dont be scared, to at turn 3 and 4 draw through everything you can, because you wont die, and you have a really big chance to draw some Freeze on their board, and once you equip your Ice Block, you can draw more aggresivily for your combo pieces, and dont really care about their damage on board.
AGGRO
Against aggro it's harder, but I would say its 60% to win for you, because your survivability against fullboard is good. Dont be scared to use your Blizzard or Frost Nova without Doomsayer just like that. Because if you clear the board, anyway, Druid gonna fill it again until 2 turns. If you are able to destroy their board, and next turn drop Archmage Antonidas, you want to do it, and then use Fireball for board clear, or if you can drop atleast 2 Sorcerer's Apprentice, you can use Fireball to burn them down!

Im not ambitious at all with this deck guide, but I hope you will have best luck on ladder with it :)
Feel free to ask me if you have a question about this deck
ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING - My English is simply bad. Im Czech, and I write with my Czenglish, which means that my sentences doesnt even makes a sence... Please, if I will have some really huge mistake in this guide, write it to comments, and I will fix it :)
Well of course you will get downvoted hard for stating the obvious; Even after I switched to wild because of the cancerous meta of standard, I am already facing a variant of this exodia mage with Emperor Thaurissan instead of playing the qst where thay can otk you in 1 turn thanks to 2xSimulacrum and/or Molten Reflection cost getting reduced...
This deck is awful, no control aside from Doomsayer + Freeze. Your enemy will just keep on dumping minions the second you put your quest on
-2 Novice Engineer, -1 Acolyte of Pain
+1 Frostbolt, +1 Volcanic Potion, +1 Flamestrike
You should watch some videos with playing this deck so you will know exactly how to use it.
as you said you need to draw your entire deck to win. How to win if you keep drawing and no control?
and you said no card draw? you got 2 arcane intellect and 2 coldlight oracle. no card draw? 0 brain player
good luck drawing to an early aggressive deck
and for argument's sake i'm not rank 20
edit: yeah I left the flamestrike there so you can see that I use flamestrike in my deck
[METABREAKER]Exodia Mage, KoFT version - LEGEND...
second thing that stands there is
Are you stupid this Deck isnt Metabreaking, thats bullshit sorry.
This Deck is just an pretty annoying pussy Tier 4 Ladder Deck,
Greetings, SMV
Good deck that requires skill to play , whoever disagrees just try the deck . On paper it seems powerful but bad match-ups and eater of secrets destroy the deck . Not for everyone as the win-rate suggests (46.1) but feels rewarding when you win by good decision-making . Even the smallest miss-play can cost you the game you must plan for turns ahead .
0-6 so far, "awesome deck".
Nothing about this deck is meta-breaking.
Kazakus Mage and other controlling mage decks have a pretty good matchup against this deck simply because they can usually pop your block before the combo, then block the combo and kill you.
Hell, I had one game where I got a block off book and off a tome I got off Courier and we went 3 rounds of iceblocking eachother before I got to kill him.
I agree mage stands best chance against exodia mage b/c of the ice block yet it's not an easy matchup if he manages to pull the combo. You have to wipe 4x apprentice and Toni the next turn and you'll have empty board for sure. And you need to secure your survival after his combo + he'll probably have leftover fireballs for his next turn. Best you can do is fish for extra block save a poli for Toni. Or in wild - poli+reno and hope he is out of burst. Reno\kazakus mage completely shuts down freeze mage tho.
Obviously you have never had your board frozen for 4 turns in a row, then to have to go through at least 2 ice blocks to just get 360 windmill slam dunked by the combo because you couldn't do anything for 6ish turns. Deck is a jade killer too. so not even close to worst. It is very much a high skill/intelligence cap deck. Perhaps that's where your problem is.
It's always funny to see tags [METABREAKER] and (46.1%) for the same deck.
Regards.
its actually not a bad deck, just only has very few good matchups. The win rate was actually I think 56% until the noobs on this website saw this deck and started spamming it in ladder with probably low knowledge on how to play combo decks at all and obviously the deck isnt good in general ladder. But when u are grinding for those last few stars to get to legend against the same or so dozens or people, it can get you there easily (or for example you are around high legend). Functioning very similar to freeze mage.
also Exodia mage has been a round for a long time so this isnt really meta breaking and everyone knew the small strenghts and the big weaknesses but its still strong in very specific scenarios.
the order is wrong
you can play 2 [card]Sorcerer's Apprentice[/card] and 1 [card]Molten Reflection[/card], and play [card]Archmage Antonidas[/card] and another [card]Molten Reflection[/card] the turn after in case you don't have an extra spell to trigger [card]Archmage Antonidas[/card]
I have - Acolyte of pain + Similacrum and -1 blizzard + 1 cabalist tome.
Makes it more consisten in my testing due to the fact that you get one more way to finish of the 4 sorcs apprentice combo... also, getting 5 apprentices up with a bit of luck in Cabalist tome, you dont need Antonidas since spells are so cheap you can burn them down just with the spells from there. (and 15 damage from apprentice if no taunts)
you can allways get unlucky with draws and loose, and yeah aggro can be a struggle, but with the heavy emhpasis on control that dominates the ladder right now, you have time in most games to take it slow and just cycle you deck with freeze, card draws and so on to make the combo..
i enjoy the whole exodia play style!! its so satisfying to just shoot fireballs into there faces!
Play it like a freeze mage deck.
Alexstrazas always at the bottom of the deck.
so the Antony.
Even though you play so perfect
but your luck is so poor you can't win.
Don't tell me this deck require skill
I play it a lot and Most required skill is "LUCK"
TLDR: Don't play this if you never lucky. There is no such a thing like top deck for you here.
Just tryed playing this deck. Last two cards Antonidas and 2nd Molten Reflection. Seems legit.
you wont win every game bro when i was playing jade druid my last 2 cards were 2 infestations, but you win %80 of the time.
Ofcourse i get it i just thought it was hilarious that i was missing 2/5 cards of OTK deck (40% of the cards basically) after drawing 93% of my deck.
