Hello everyone, I am here with another deck guide, and this time it's a really funny one, as I really like to bend the rules of Hearthstone :) Allow me to present you the Obsidian Rage Priest!
This deck is all about cheating a big minion into play and reviving it as soon as you can. As such, there are very few minions in the deck to ensure that you get what you need with Barnes and Shadow Essence. So you just try to stall for a while with your spells, and as soon as you can you go for some huge minion, which should then kill your opponent quickly.
Pirate Warrior is the worst matchup for this deck as you have a hard time preventing rush damage that he is capable of, but other aggro decks are fine, as dealing with the board is your strong suit. You especially want to play against Shaman or Taunt Druid, as you just cheat a big taunt minion to play early and they have a hard time dealing with that.
Against control your best bet to win is to play Y’Shaarj, Rage Unbound as many times as you can, and usually they won’t have answer to it for the third time or so. If they still somehow manage to clear your board, then you must get as much value as you can from Thoughtsteal and Devour Mind to beat them.
If you could choose one card that would always start in your hand, it would be Barnes. Drawing him is insane, and is the single best card in the deck by far to get. Other than that you can keep Shadow Essence in most matchups as it is your main gameplan, but if you think they will be hyper aggressive then you might have to toss it. Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Visions are also good keep basically no matter what, and I keep Mind Vision most of the time as well. Thanks to aforementioned deck restriction this card had to make the cut, and it helps you to do anything in the early game as they should have some cheap cards in hand after they mulligan.
Against aggro you are looking for Potion of Madness, and Holy Smite is also good, especially if you are on the draw.
Against control you can keep Eternal Servitude as the card is great and game will go quite long. Thoughtsteal is also a good keep, especially on the play.
And just a small bonus to wrap it up, you should keep Shadow Word: Horror versus Shaman and mulligan it when you play against anything else.
I really dug deep to find any playable spells, so I don’t think there is much you can change there, but if you figure out something then sure let me know. Where you get to make the choices is you minion combo package.
I know I said that Barnes is the best card, but theoretically you could cut him as it greatly improves your Shadow Essence as you will always hit something good. I think that Barnes compensates for this with him being super strong when drawn, but I just wanted to let you know that this could be a possibility.
After that there is only Y’Shaarj, Rage Unbound that has to be in the deck, and all the others are optional. Obsidian Statue is real huge brick wall against aggro, but if you are playing versus control all the time, you could just switch one of them for Ysera.
The Lich King can also be removed from the deck if you don’t have him or feel like you have too many big targets in the deck, and I have played for a long time with this deck with Devour Mind in his place.
That's all I have for you today guys, hope you enjoyed my article! I really recommend that you try this deck, it’s very good and so much fun. As always, don’t forget to see the Youtube video if you are interested in some gameplay, and if you liked the deck, then Youtube subscribe is greatly appreciated. See you next week with another deck guide!
Cheers

Huge removal decks ?
Highlander priest that has only x1 of copies of cards ?
Jade Druid ? Doesn't have any kind of removal , Druid can't deal with big things ( cept Naturalize ) !
Exodia ( Quest ) Mage ? The deck freezes over and over , this deck doesn't even run Polymorph anymore !
Control Paladin can be hard , but Thoughtsteal and Devour Mind won't help you there anyway.
Evolve/Devolve Shaman ?
"You need them to generate threats against those decks and put pressure on them."
How does Thoughtsteal and Devour Mind helps in that case ? You want to steal cards that are not even good with your deck / no synergy , what is happening is that you are stealing cards that you don't want to play in general .
Thoughtsteal and Devour Mind are value cards , has nothing to do with preasure at all . You want to steal Fire Fly and play an 1/2 as preassure for 6mana ( 5mana Devour Mind + 1mana Fire Fly ) , this does not seem effective to me.
This deck is all about Controling the board as much as it can with spells.
Why don't you play GOOD cards instead , like Holy Nova then, that punishes the opponent if over extend and also heals you .
If you want to counter a deck , TECH into it , stop running RNG cards. ( As priest you can't counter Devolve Anyway ) !
Its a COPY from the opponents Deck , just because you are stealing them , they have it , how does this help you ?
Anyway against token evolve shaman you don't have the luxory to do a turn 5 Devour Mind anyway. You gonna be dead the moment you waste your turn 5 like this .
Run Holy Nova + 2x Spirit Lash , instead of RNG cards that are overpriced .
Well i pushed from 5 to legend with this variant of the big priest a few days ago. I don;t know what to tell you but i'm not the only person pushing high ranks with this style of deck because it works. Probably doesn't look like it works on paper but it does.
Don't get me wrong ofcorse it works, but it works because of the core of the deck, which is Barnes / Shadow Essence / Eternal Servitude , most likely not because of the cards you get from Thoughtsteal / Devour Mind ( i mean ofc sometimes 1 out of 20 games it can win you games, but for 5% i wouldnt run these RNG cards ).
I also pushed to top 200 legend with a variant of this deck that does not run Thoughtsteal and Devour Mind .
All i am saying i just don't understand how can you afford to play these cards for 3 / 5 mana . They are slow, RNG and don't contest the board neither clears it . ( Okey on curve if the board is clear Thoughtsteal for 3 is okey ( but you still get cards you don't really want ) to prevent heropower pass > end turn ) .
I played Highlander priest from rank 15 till legend 300 and i got a few insults with highlander priest indeed.
I tried a version with Nzoth + Cairne and the one without, and i do prefer with Nzoth the days the meta is control oritented ( such as today) and very efficient against jade druid even very late in the game when the jades are 10+ . Having ysera casting dream makes it perfect. Aggainst aggro i feel it s more about being able to draw removal cards anyway.
Pirate warrior win 90% of the time, the other 10 is when i got a perfect draw.
EZ to beat
Love your decks man. Thanks for your contribution to this forum. Without you, it wouldn't be the same. Cheers.
Had an amusing game with this deck against a Quest Mage... in which I stole and completed his quest. Funny!

Missing two legendaries, but at least two of the ones I was looking for, so I'll grind the dust or just get lucky.
Aso I'll try putting Shadowreaper Anduin to get another board clear against controll and Big jades and N'Zoth, the Corruptor to raise my army of statues again, hopfully it will work as it does in my head
I put N'zoth in this deck and he was the only minion Barnes pulled for 4 straight matches. 10/10, would play N'zoth again.
There is no place in hand for cards from 3 and 5 mana spells. Heal for 4 mana can be good i think and silence maybe.
Really fun deck thank you for sharing again :D !
I played versions of this for 2 days, but I like yours better. I went 14-7 around rank 4-5 (not legend) last night after checking out your stream yesterday. Thanks a bunch. Love it. Such a fun deck. Gonna keep playing it! :)
