This deck is probably a little expensive and a little nuts but it's as intense as it is nuts! Let me know what you think if you try it. It is a wallet deck with many legendary cards. Some of which are mandatory. This deck also requires some calculated plays to get optimal results.

Card Breakdown | |
---|---|
Awaken the Makers | This is a powerful card to throw into your strategy with being such a heavy control deck. With the synergy backing this up it's easy to complete. |
Loot Hoarder | A reliable card to play early and gets you that one draw closer to the crucial cards of this deck. |
Potion of Madness | There's no question that this card can get a lot done, and there's some great deathrattles to steal. |
Shallow Gravedigger | A nice 3 drop to supplement deathrattle synergy. |
Shadow Visions | This is a fantastic highlander tool, allowing you a second copy of a spell of your choice. |
Shadow Word: Pain | Straightforward removal. |
Spirit Lash | Love this card. Easy to combo with spell damage, can heal a lot, and has double synergy with Velen. |
Shadow Word: Death | Straightforward Removal. |
Thoughtsteal | Some may suggest Curious Glimmerroot. I prefer this so it will not pollute your summon/rez pool. Can always use more cards in the long game. |
Eternal Servitude | Epic card! Varies in power depending on what minions have died before you play it, but often you can get ridiculous value for 4 mana after your opponent just struggled to remove that minion! |
Shifting Shade | Serves the same purpose as Crystalline Oracle. |
Tortollan Shellraiser | A very nice taunt to have at your disposal to stifle to protect friendlies or trade with small minions. |
Dragonfire Potion | Seeing some more minion-heavy decks lately, so i decided to run this aoe again. |
Holy Nova | Classic double whammy priest aoe. |
Onyx Bishop | Re-summons one of our numerous valuable minions. Love this card; just time it right! |
Raza the Chained | This is a core card. Makes Shadowreaper Anduin insane, and is the entire reason this is a highlander deck. One of my favorite cards in the game. |
Shadow Essence | Barnes as a spell, but better. The fact that it is summoned as 5/5 is great because it matters a bit less which minion it is. Very useful. |
Prophet Velen | This card adds a lot of fuel to the fire. Most often you will be taking advantage of hero power bonuses, but cranks up aoe as well. |
Shadowreaper Anduin | God damn this is a sweet card. Gives you huge board control power and allows you to really spam shadow damage all over the place. A win condition. |
Obsidian Statue | This card is insane, it does so many good things. Then you can bring it back multiple times, and get another from Stonehill Defender! Key card. |
Bloodmage Thalnos | Not crucial but helps progress the quest and flow of the deck. Spell power is always good. |
Polluted Hoarder | Taking advantage of the deathrattle card draw with this card. It may not seem worth it at face value, but it is very nice to re-summon afterwards. |
Spiritsinger Umbra | I decided against this card in the past, but now i have thought about it some more and it can get value often with all the deathrattles. Does not work with Skelemancer. |
Arfus | So cute! Woof! Death knight cards are really powerful, why not have more?! |
Barnes | Progresses the quest and also creates copies which increase resurrection chances of a minion. |
Kazakus | Tons of value. If i am going to be running Raza, there's no reason not to run this as well. |
Skelemancer | I was originally skeptical, but this card is sweet. Just leave it on the board and let it intimidate. They will have to think twice about using aoe damage! If you get a chance, taunt the bastard up! |
Cairne Bloodhoof | Classic and timeless value. Sweet card in a mirror match as well. Not mandatory but very good. |
The Lich King | The king, man, you have to have him! Copy him, resurrect him, serve him. Death knight cards will give you a lot of power. |
N'Zoth, the Corruptor | Hell yeah i am going to play this. Look at those deathrattles! You can play this earlier if you had some good minions die, but otherwise it's better to save as long as possible. |

I would craft those in this order
N'zoth > Bloodmage > Cairne > Awaken the Makers > Barnes > Arfus.
N'zoth is a strong win condition; Bloodmage and Cairne are a good craft because they are classic.
Playing this deck without n'zoth and the quest kind of defeats the purpose of all the deathrattles though.
This isn't a question about the deck itself, but does Onyx Bishop fit well into a typical N'Zoth Priest? And if so, one or two?
Just asking because I've never liked resurrection effects before Eternal Servitude, but I've experimented with that and actually quite like it. I figured you'd have more experience than me though.
It's very good, yes. You want to choose the minions in your deck carefully though, because that plays a big part in determining the value you get.
That's why deathrattle minions are great; their effects can be repeated. Resurrecting them means they died once more, so they can then be summoned that many times by n'zoth and are more like to be resurrected by a future onyx bishop, for example.
need to fit in a geist somewhere to have a chance to beat jade druid as long as it's not at bottom of the deck which happened to me quite a few games...
I could but i probably wont because i value resurrecting or summoning minions with a valuable effect that is not a battlecry. We'll see how things play out though.
Hello, this is very interesting deck! Thank you - this is great job! Can u create this deck in wild? Without guide, deck is enoght.
p.s sorry my bad english))
Thank you! You're English is good enough no worries :) I will see if i can make a wild version in the near future but i can not promise.
I also put Umbra into the Deck. (Replacement for Arfus) and i think, thats a really valuable Card, especially for Skele-Mage.
But this Deck is not very consistent against Midrange or Aggro, altough i like this Deck a lot.
Keep up the Updates, i will keep up playing with this
It's definitely tougher against faster decks but when you can start to anticipate what cards you need to keep or look for it becomes a bit better. I tried Umbra in this deck and i did not necessarily like it in this case but i may attempt again in the future.
Going to give you a heads up though, Umbra does nothing with Skelemancer if that is what you meant. It has to be on the opponent's turn.
Definitely love the idea of this of this deck and most of the card choices. Been doing pretty well around rank 13. Thanks!
Here are the changes I made:
Skelemancer replaced by Bone Drake . I think the drake's value is more consistent. The dragon tag is a nice bonus if you need to use Dragonfire Potion.
Acolyte of Pain replaced by Loot Hoarder. I prefer the hoarder since he's a death rattle, is a bit cheaper (having something to do consistently on turn 2 helps a lot against aggro) and doesn't let your opponent try to overdraw you.
I didn't have Arfus so I replaced him with Shallow Gravedigger. I feel like the gravedigger is too good to pass up in a singleton quest deck so if you have and like Arfus maybe the gravedigger should replace the acolyte of pain.
Reasonable changes, i was playing those as well previously. However, I am confused because i have both Acolyte and Loot Hoarder in the deck =P
Just played a few games... pretty cool deck, exactly what I tried to build myself :)
What about Lyra, Ysera? Even more value... or Alex, Elise?
Glad you enjoy it! As for your inquiry, i'l try to explain why i am not playing those.
Lyra requires some cheaper spells to get value and this deck doesn't really have that. It wouldn't get any value out of the effect.
Ysera, although a good card, doesn't have taunt and i prefer the Death Knight cards in this deck.
Alexstrasza would be clunky and usually just a vanilla body when summoned (no effect or deathrattle) so i really don't want to pollute the pool of possible minions that can be summoned by Barnes or Shadow Essence.
Elise is also not a bad card, but again i don't want to pollute the summoning/resurrection pool. I also don't want to add an extra card to my deck that could postpone me drawing Raza or another important card.
fun deck great info provided good job plus 1 from me :)
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Really fun deck to play!
Played the original version with Devour Mind at first, then realized I usually have more cards in my hand than I can hold, replaced with Dragonfire Potion, and I can see same change was made here :)
Aggro\token heavy decks are frustrating to deal with, but control matchups are so fun, I quickly forget the bad ones :)
I always mulligan away the quest (except mirror), I can complete it later with N'Zoth revival anyway.
The skill that I yet to master - not to forget using HP after each card played, so much damage lost!
A highlight against Jade Druid. Who's got more Jades now? (I won and without Geist!)

Thanks for sharing your experience, glad you are having fun! I had that trouble as well the first few times i played shadowreaper. Forgot to use it before i played a card. No more!
Is it viable without the quest + velen? I've spent all the dust I saved
Neither are really necessary but both give you a lot more sustain. If you don't run the quest you may want a greater healing potion!
Im getting a LOT of fun with this deck, even when i lose! Thanks mate, its been a while since i have this "I dont want the match to end" feeling playing ranked.
