Mulligan
Look For Vilefin, Grimscal, Hydrologist, Murloc tidecaller, Rockpool hunter, war leader, and Southsea captain. Get rid of any weapons, any spells, minions above 3 mana, and patches is a no-brainer
I've played a dozen games with this list right now and I'm struggling to see how it's better than pirate warrior or murloc paladin. None of these murlocs are as good as N'zoth's first mate. Rallying Blade is no Fiery War Axe. You essentially have to hit a 1 drop murloc into rockpool to have the same early game pressure that NFM + War Axe or Corsair gives you. You don't get Hydra, you don't get Mortal Strike. You don't have Leeroy. The deck plays a lot like midrange beast hunter, which is admittedly a good deck, but this deck is 7000 dust more expensive.
The matchups against Token Shaman and Token Druid are much better. The matchups against control are a little worse. The matchup vs taunt warrior and mage still feels really bad. It's hard to say this deck isn't better if you just take out the Southsea Captain and Patches and just play 2 Vicious Fledgling and a Leeroy Jenkins. I could see Aldor Peacekeeper, Eater of Secrets, Equality or Spellbreaker as tech cards replacing the 3 drops as well. I feel the goal here is to kill your opponent on turn 6 or 7, and I think the prevailing pirate and murloc decks are just more consistent at doing that.
With that said, man this deck is fun to play.
The deck is not meant to be some amazing climbing deck. He threw it together on stream as a joke after people told him they didn't want to see pirate warrior or murloc paladin. Of course, he managed to climb well with it because murlocs are so fucking broken that even in a shitty deck they can carry. Who actually thinks these decks are fun anyway? Its entirely synergy/curve dependent. People don't play them for fun, they play them because they are braindead easy to climb with.
"The deck is not meant to be some amazing climbing deck." "People don't play them for fun, they play them because they are braindead easy to climb with." Huh???
...I meant murloc paladin and pirate warrior. This is an almagamation that is generally worse, but carried mostly by the powerful murloc 1-2-3 plays. You would play the other murloc paladin decks if you wanted better success.
My point was that bland, straightforward synergy decks like this generally aren't fun. You either have an insane curve and win, or your opponent has perfect answers and you lose.
I appreciate decks like this that reward me for teching in both crabs.
Hell yeah mate, It's so much flavour and value.
This deck is crazy fun! Something I've been looking for since the expansion is coming out next week and the current meta is getting kinda stale. Here's a video of me playing a few games with the deck -- hope you enjoy!
Struggling to fight against control mages. Any suggestion about mulligan or general strategy or this match-up is really hard to beat?
Hey man. I've personally found that if you swap out a card with just one eater of secrets when you have them down to next to nothing all you have to do is play it right before dealing the coupe de grais. Just takes care of that pesky iceblock. Just take care not to cast a spell right before unless you eater of secrets FIRST.
why Rallying Blade?
Also you want to have a lot of weapons when you play Dread Corsair
SMILEY FACE PIRATES AND MURLOCS HAHA!!!
Why the down votes on a video showcasing the deck? I don't understand.
Yeah Idk I guess I have a lot of haters lol!
Nice deck
replacement for captain greenskin?
Best alternative would be Naga Corsair.
Other cards that that have a similar effect are Warrior or Rogue class cards that can't be used in this deck.
