Gnomeferatu makes Warlock milling possible for the first time in the game's history. Wisely, all the complimentary tools are in wild.
The plan is fairly direct - play minions that pull cards from the opponent's deck (Dancing Swords, Deathlord, Coldlight Oracle), forcing them to commit to the board, and then punish with the numerous AOE's.
I have considered Dirty Rat as well, but that creates negative synergy for the brutal Brann Bronzebeard/Coldlight Oracle turns we are all so familiar with in Rogue. And while Demonwrath is a great card for this archetype, Hellfire is better against all the 3-health minions in Token Druid and Pirate Warrior which won't be going anywhere soon. More healing would be nice, but until we get a good Lifesteal card for Warlock (more reveals on the way), double Antique Healbot (available with Brann Bronzebeard) will have to suffice.
Can't wait to try this out.
Aug. 1 update - Who would've guessed that a theorycrafted Warlock mill deck would reach the front page of all decks! Thanks to everyone who's upvoted, and I promise a write-up after I give this thing a spin for a few days after the expansion. Way cool.
Aug. 3 update - Both Treachery and Skulking Geist have now been revealed. I never anticipated this type of attention, so I am hesitant to make piecemeal changes to the list until all cards are known. As I noted in the comments, I actually don't think Treachery works in this type of build, but Skulking Geist seems like a natural fit at first blush. I will take my best stab at refining the list after the final card dump and post my results after the first day of release. Thoughts on new cards fitting (or not) into this deck are appreciated - for example someone recommended Sir Finley Mrrgglton, and the more I think about it the more I think he's practically necessary. Thanks again for all the support.
Aug. 8 update - The final reveal didn't bring anything I found too useful for this deck. There is zero demon synergy for Bloodreaver Gul'dan despite the amazing hero power. Sir Finley Mrrgglton still seems better. And in light of Skulking Geist, Power Overwhelming no longer makes sense. I dropped a single copy of Shadowflame to make room; it loses serious synergy in PO, and I still like double Twisting Nether to fit this deck's plan of forcing the opponent to commit to the board.
Also, The Lich King doesn't help that plan - it actually risks self-milling by adding cards. But because every other non-aggro deck will be running it from here to forever, the hilarious Army of the Dead and Doom Pact will either cause meme-worthy moments or create utterly dead cards for the opponent. I'm looking forward to that.
I'm going to stick with this list going into the release. As I've mentioned in the comments several times now, I believe Treachery/Fel Reaver shenanigans belong in a completely different deck without Dancing Swords and the like. Someone else can do a better job of figuring that one out.
I'll report back on my results Friday or Saturday depending on how busy work is. Have fun!
fun deck extremely inconsistent
I like running Treacherys with Doomsayers for yet another wicked board clear. Sure it's a two piece combo but it's even more consistent than Frost Nova/DS. I have also cut one Defile in favor of a Tainted Zealot. Defile is an amazing card but too many times it was dead in my hand if I didn't have the perfect math for it to stack.
I agree with your logic on cutting PO in light of Geist, but it is sad to see it go as it was so epic with Shadowflame. Any thoughts on Corrupting Mist? Seems like it could be a good fit.
How has the deck performed for you thus far?
Nat is just too memey, and that 2/4 out of the gates can be a pain. But you might be right about Sylvannas without PO, I think it will turn on how effective my build is on stopping aggro. I'll be honest that I didn't seriously consider Darkbomb.
Hope to see you on ladder in an epic mirror match!
You don't think I actually crafted him do you?!
Why not using Treachery + Howlfiend?
Because this is a mill deck and that would empty their hand....
King Mukla is also common in "fatigue decks" it adds to cards to opponents hand making it easier to overdraw and burn cards.
"Wisely, all the complimentary tools are in wild." uhh lmao so you don't think we should be allowed to pursue multiple deck archetypes and mill shouldn't be allowed in standard? I've been wishing blizzard would implement some more mill mechanics just to mix things up.
Fair point. What I meant was that I don't think anyone wants a standard meta where mill decks are actually OP. In wild, so many decks are OP in different ways that mill decks should have their space. But I would stand corrected if the standard meta actually reached the level of balance that mill could be legend-viable but not oppressive.
I'll be updating my list before Thursday's launch (I'm in meetings all day again tomorrow), but none of the late reveals impressed me for purposes of the "Millock" niche. I'm going to dwell on it.
Though I hate the idea of the Gnomeferatu and Skulking Geist cards, I can see their value. I can see with your deck that in Wild you have lots of options to play around with. I threw together something for standard and I'm always up for constructive comments:
whats happening here
Outright card removal (Gnomeferatu, Skulking Geist), bouncing Gnomeferatu with Brewmasters to do it again. Then the rest is using Treachery to gift either an Acolyte of Pain or a Polluted Hoarder followed by various ways of damaging the Acolyte repeatedly or killing the Hoarder for even more force card draw. Then somehow bringing them back to do it again all over again (Corpse Raiser before they get gifted, Moat Lurker on the Hoarder, then kill the Lurker to get the Hoarder back, then killing the Hoarder again). Kabal Courier to fish for more damage/removal or even another Gnomeferatu or Treachery. Voodoo Doctor for healing and as a Defile recast target, Siphon Soul for healing and hard removal. Tentacle of N'Zoth for pinging the Acolytes and as a Defile recast target.
Do you think that Wailing Felhound and Treachery could fit in the deck? The combo seems interesting, specially with Defile and Spreading Madness.
I commented on this before; I think Treachery belongs in a totally different build focused on wombo-combos instead of board control/subtle milling compliments of Deathlord, Dancing Swords, Nat, the Darkfisher, and N'Zoth, the Corruptor. The combo type decks would aim for pure board control until the combo pieces are assembled (and the build might be very powerful), but my concept is to fight for the board and force the opponent to commit to it before unleashing massive clears.
I've played a lot of memey mill decks since launch (including a Shaman mill this season), and I think Gnomeferatu can be more powerful than people think.
While I am generally not a fan of shameless self promotion, I see some interesting potential with Treachery, specifically using it to donate a Fel Reaver that may make some sense in the deck. Granted, you would also need to add Grim Patron, Mortal Coil, Bloodbloom, and Elven Archer, then do the following:

Edit:
Thanks to ChewieTheWookie for the Elven Archer suggestion!
Also could be done with Summoning Portal the turn before
