No 3-cost cards?
The omission of 3-cost cards doesn't allow you to play some good cards like: Feral Rage, Jade Blossom, Tar Creeper, Mulch and Ironbeak Owl, but it hurts the deck very little, and Prince Taldaram makes up a lot of value to counteract this.
Blood of The Ancient One TTK
Assuming you're already familiar with the playstyle of Xixo's EZ Big Druid, this guide mainly focuses on what's new with Prince Taldaram, starting off with the interactions of Blood of The Ancient One:
- Blood of The Ancient One + Innervate + Prince Taldaram can be played to create a 30/30 minion as a possible win condition, for a total of 10 mana in one turn.
- A second way to pull off this combo is to develop a Giant Anaconda, then pulling out Blood of The Ancient One from your hand with it and proceeding to use Prince Taldaram on it. This requires setup and can be pulled off for a total of 10 mana in two turns.
- A third way to pull off this combo is by getting Blood of The Ancient One from Barnes and proceeding to use Prince Taldaram on it, for a total of 7 mana in one turn.
- A fourth way to pull off this combo is to draw Blood of The Ancient One with Bright-Eyed Scout, then proceeding to play it for 5 mana on a later turn, and using Prince Taldaram on it for a total of 8 mana in one turn.
Baiting out hard removal like Hex and Polymorph is very easy with the many big minions in this deck, and make sure you do that before you summon The Ancient One.
Recall that allthough The Ancient One is really good at finishing a game, it is just one of your many win conditions, and sometimes it is better to just use the combopieces for tempo. At worst you will be playing a 9 mana 9/9.
Prince Taldaram synergies
The following list contains minions that synergize very well with Prince Taldaram:
- Prince Taldaram can be used on Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound to pull out an extra minion from your deck.
- Prince Taldaram can be used on Cairne Bloodhoof to make a really fat sticky deathrattle for your opponent to deal with.
- Prince Taldaram can be used on Giant Anaconda to pull out another big minion from your hand.
- Prince Taldaram can be used on Ysera to add an extra dream card to your hand every turn, for as long as it survives.
- Prince Taldaram can be used on a charged Druid of the Claw for a final lethal push.
- Prince Taldaram can be used on one of your taunts when you really need it.
- And finally, don't forget you can use Prince Taldaram on enemy minions as well, so you can snag a 3/3 copy of a Tirion Fordring, Ragnaros, Lightlord or any other card.
Note that Prince Taldaram also works on the Barnes version of every card listed here.
Tech options
We don’t know what the Frozen Throne meta will look like, and this should help you out with whatever you're about to face.
VS Aggro:
Giant Anaconda and Ysera can both generate an immense amount of value, yet are arguably the slowest cards in the deck, and against aggro these are likely the first cards you’ll want to consider replacing. The primary win condition for big druid against aggro is to stabilize and then play big taunt minions, but until then, you need to survive. You can replace Giant Anaconda and Ysera with Hungry Crab, Golakka Crawler and Acidic Swamp Ooze in any way you like, depending on what you’re facing. It is worth mentioning that Acidic Swamp Ooze can also be very good in value match-ups to remove weapons like Atiesh and Ashbringer.
VS Mages:
Against mages you are primarily looking for healing and perhaps Eater of Secrets, which is also good against the other two secret classes: Paladin and Hunter. Especially with Professor Putricide, this is something to look out for. In terms of healing, the deck already runs two copies of Earthen Scales and a Moonglade Portal, but you might want to run another copy of Moonglade Portal if mages dominate the ladder in this new expansion (With the exception of "Exodia" mages because your health doesn't matter against them). What to cut from the deck to make room for these cards is a hard decision, and playtesting will probably give you a better answer to that question than I'm able to give you now.
As an additional change to the deck, you could choose to run Bog Creeper instead of Ancient of War for better synergy with Giant Anaconda, but most of the time you will be playing it from your hand and you'd much rather have the +2 health than the +1 attack.
Interesting deck for the 5+ minion quest.
I like the fact that you are making a guide when you have no clue where the meta will be and how the deck actually plays out.
That's why it's called THEORYCRAFTING.
Prince Taldaram can also have its use in a C'thun deck. Since Druid only needs his big C'thun Taunts cards etc. and a couple of the 2-Cost ones to create a big C'thun.
Not that great I know, but still Taldaram's copy will actually gain the bonuses you gave to the original C'thun.
Cool idea but C'thun relies on 3-mana cards to get buffed.
So let me get this straight.
You are going to use a really shitty card like Prince Taldaram to try to make an even shittier card slightly less shit...
Yeah, no, not gonna work. Sorry mate.
What a fun bloke we've got there! Please, enlighten us on how only aggro decks, taunt warrior and jade druid should be the only thing to be played in hearthstone, we're dying to know. And of course, you absolutely know all the 135 cards of the upcoming set and how the meta will play out when it gets released.
It's ramp druid what did you expect? Around 4k dust?
from eddiefiv's analysis http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/197602-standard-tier-guide-to-frozen-throne#c10
I think Deathwing is pretty pointless without Deathwing, Dragonlord
Nah, it's the other way around. Base Deathwing has always and likely will always be really good in any kind of ramp druid because it swings the board. Your top decks as a ramp druid are almost always strong, so discarding your hand (while obviously still a drawback), isn't all that bad. It's also a nice target for anaconda.
Why wouldn't you just run Faceless Manipulator and 3 mana cards instead though?
Usually with Druid you end up in a scenario where you don't have room for more than one or two 3 mana cards anyways. Just nixing them entirely and running Taldaram is a cute way to do many of the crazy barnes shenanigans and the rest two turns early, or allow some dirty Innervate plays that wouldn't be possible with Faceless, while not really cutting anything that would be missed by a Druid. TBH if any class can make use of Prince Taldaram, it's Druid.
Is Anaconda really worth having in this deck? It only works with three cards.
the third method is the same as the first, only you lose Wrath and Anaconda
I updated the mistake, thanks for noticing!
Can you see a situation where Hadronox makes its way in Big Druid?
I think it's way too slow to see play. Paying 9 mana for a 3/7 is pretty bad. Aggro decks will just ignore it. It's a great card against heavy control decks that don't have an efficient way to deal with it, but EZ big druid EZ is already great against heavy control decks. You can't even get it out with Giant Anaconda.
I will certainly run it. I have 500 games with "big" druid.
It's all about cheating out minions. First it was Aviana and Naga Sea Witch with Deathwing, Dragonlord. Now I mix in Lagy GaGa (or whatever she is called lol), and Giant Anaconda. I also stay away from battle cries. you dont want to cheat out Ancient of War, thats trash. Cheat out Ironbark Protector and suggoth. Then rez them with Hadronox.
This version of ramp is more on a combo thing with the ancient one combos though. Even still I would recommend droping Bright-Eyed Scout Due to it being nowhere near as good as Naga Sea Witch used to be.
