Hey buddies! I started the challenge at rank 10 to reach legend with a priest deck that has no inner fire/divine spirit to legend. This deck went through many variations until I perfected it for the meta and got legend with it on day 7 of the season. The games were very fun and I invite everyone who likes control priest to give it a try.
Every game of the climb was done on my stream so I suggest you check out the videos there if you're interested and follow it so we can make new awesome competitive fun decks TOGETHER! twitch.tv/urkoth
Replacements: I know many people don't have The Black Knight. I really like him in this deck but if you don't want to craft him you can try Yogg-Saron, Hope's End, second [Northshire Cleric], Mind Control or Harrison Jones.
Mulligan/Game Plan
I just want to mention that I didn't include Shadow Visions in the mulligan phase. You can keep it against any class if you want to. It's not a mistake to keep it or to mulligan it away.
Aggro Druid: Remove their stuff or contest it early game. Try to have early minions out and a shadow word pain if their innervate the Pinkie but don't mulligan hard for it. We can still stabilize through the Dragonfire Potion if we fall behind. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield.
Jade Druid: Like every control deck, we will struggle against them because the Auctioneer still exists in standard. Luckily, there aren't many of them on the ladder. If you want to target them on the ladder in particular, try one of my inner fire/divine spirit priest decks which absolutely obliterate them. You can find them on my twitter or my hearthpwn page. Keep Lyra, Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyro, Curious Glimeroot, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield.
Hunter: If you have Potion of Madness in your starting hand, you pretty much win the game. Otherwise, deal with their board and try to contest it. Priest of the Feast can stabilize you if you fall behind. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield.
Burn Mage: Get the value game going with cards like Curious Glimeroot, Crystalline Oracle and Lyra. Save a Priest of the Feast after they play Alexstrasza so you can heal back up. Save the coin for Lyra or Priest of the Feast. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyro, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield, Priest of the Feast, Lyra.
Murloc Paladin: There are many versions of it and it is one of the strongest decks in the game. This priest deck beats it pretty often though with a big positive winrate against it if you play smart. Remove the murlocs, play around Tarim. silence the steeds etc. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Gluttonous Ooze, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield.
Control Paladin: Get lots of value while staying on board. Play around getaway kodo if possible. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Gluttonous Ooze, Curious Glimeroot, Power Word: Shield.
Priest: Play around potion of madness and try to get value. Save the ooze for Medivh. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield, Curious Glimeroots, Lyra, Elise.
Token Shaman: Keep the removals for the priority targets, let the Pyros do the work, have some board but play around devolve sometimes. Priority targets include Flametongue and mana tide totems. Primalfin Totem is close to that category. Play around Bloodlust and try to get Dragonfire potions from the shadow visions. Easy match-up for us most of the time. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield.
Pirate Warrior: Remove the pirates but try to survive. Not an easy task but priest can do it! Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield, Gluttonous Ooze, Tar Creeper.
Taunt Warrior: Gain Tempo, deny card draw from them. Gain value through mid-late game. Keep Northshire Cleric, Crystalline Oracle, Radiant Elemental, Wild Pyros, Potion of Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Power Word: Shield, Curious Glimeroot, Lyra, Elise.
Thank you for reading, hope you have as much fun and success as I did if you decide to give it a try. Feel free to ask questions! Cheers!
I had two priest quests and I don't really like priests this expansion, but this deck is fun, and I won 2 of the 3. The one i lost against a mage who had 2 iceblocks and 1 hitpoint, so that was close too.
The first game I had 29 priest cards played, so 29/30 on the quest already. Amazing.
So, it's a good deck, seems to work against all kinds of meta.
I tried it today again after some time of testing new decks and easily got to rank 10 with it. It definitely is still rocking and glad it worked out greatly for you, baboen!
Please craft them if you want to play this deck in particular Xadnok. They just work great in it.
At rank 10, 6 loss in a row, deck it's good, fun to play, but don't work, don't any win condition.
I subbed one potion for a deathwing, been giving me great results even against jade and I'm almost legend. great work!
Go get em Azk, great job sir!
if this deck will be good if ill replace The Black Knight?
thx! will try with Medivh
Gz Harorrd!
Can legit vouch for this deck because I've lost 99% of the games against it.
Glad many people are using it, thanks for the info leenpaws!
Thanks for this deck! I really enjoy playing it, as it is different from the usual. You almost always have options and answers which differs from game to game. 8 games played so far, 5-3 at rank 10 on EU.
Good stuff Lokhast, keep it up!
From 13 to 16 rank. This deck suck to everything.
"From 13 to 16 rank"
think before you speak you cant even drop from 15 to 16.
Thank you, EvasionShot!
Good choice SirPep and I'm glad you like it!
Ahoy Skuba, I'm focused on warrior after so much priest but we have so much new stuff and it keeps going. Seems like we'll be fresh until the expansion!
So I've tried this deck in dumpster ranks (fell down hard, since I've played like 15 games last month) and it seems nice. I've beaten a few Hunters, Pirate Warrior and Mages. Lost one game, 6-1 atm (lost to Jade Druid, autolose MU), although rank 20-19 aren't representative.
Seems strong. The nice thing is, that it really feels like a nice control deck with comeback capabilities and it's really rewarding when you play smart - had a board vs Hunter, where he had 2x 1/1 cat, Crackling Razormaw and a Firefly, which I've answered with Wild Pyro into Potion of Madness on the Firefly for board clear and tempo advantage. Feels like good old Control Warrior days.
Imho it plays better than Control/Gunther Mage (which I obviously either can't play or just have shitty RNG, as I never seem to have answers to my opponent's plays), as it gives you opportuinites to outvalue most decks, control the board, stabilize and comebacks. Upvote, mate!
