Hey guys, thank you for all the support, comments, and tips that I received for this deck! I read every single comment and watched every single showcase. I'm so happy that this deck got over 100 upvotes. I promised a full guide, but unfortunately due to a busy schedule, I am not able to write one on a short notice. For my upcoming decks I will try to guide you as much as possible, as I hoped I did with this deck! Cheers!
I made my own Dragon Priest based on the current meta. Have fun ;). If you like my deck, you can donate in Bitcoins! You can find the details below. You can also check out the Elementals of Oz: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/851294-elementals-of-oz-69-5-win-rate
*update*
- Based on experiences and more play, I decided to switch Wrathion with Elise the Trailblazer. Now you can use Shadow Visions to draw Un'Goro packs!
- To battle the many aggro decks and based on help in the comments, I decided to switch the two Radiant Elemental for Wild Pyromancer. The Radiant Elemental cards did not add many value since we do not play Lyra the Sunshard
Since we removed Wrathion, you can switch Faerie Dragon with a selection of other cards:
- If you come across a lot of Weapons: add a Acidic Swamp Ooze or less preferably a Gluttonous Ooze
- If you come across a lot of Pirates: try dealing with them with your minions or removal spells, another option is to add a Golakka Crawler
- Murlocs are very annoying, but try dealing with them with your minions or removal spells.
Thanks for all the comments, support, and suggestions! Keep them coming to make this deck better!
- Always buff your early game minions when possible. Especially Northshire Cleric, even if you need to use your coin for that.
- Only play shadow vision when in need of a spell!
- Almost always try to draw Drakonid Operative (when possible) from Netherspite Historian around turn 5.
- Do not waste your minions! Play wisely, if you think you have enough board to win, save the minions in your hand! Always anticipate on your opponents board whipes.
The goal is to make sure you survive and build a steady board. Your enemy will eventually run out of spells to deal with your minions or run out of cards. Especially Twilight Drake and Drakonid Operative are very important here since it almost always forces the enemy to clear instantly.
Unfortunately, I don't see people play Faerie Dragon a lot and I think the card is way undervalued. Especially against Mage it's very strong, plus dragon! Only too bad you cannot heal or buff it.
I chose not to add Lyra the Sunshard. I always think that Lyra is too messy because you want to get too much value out of it by saving your spells, what most of the time ruins your game.
If you do not own Elise the Trailblazer, Kiwiinbacon made a nice video where he replaced the card with Harrison Jones. This could be a good replacement. This video also shows some great tactics to handle this deck!

Could you make some replacements for budget in guide ?
I am loving this deck. I don't have all the cards though, so I've made the following replacements:
-1 Elise the Trailblazer, +1 Kabal Songstealer
- 1 Ysera, +1 Primordial Drake
Kabal Songstealer has secured me victory a couple of times (or to put it another way, has prevented my death), so I'm fairly happy with the replacement. It will be a exceptionally useful card against Paladins when I eventually face one.
I am also tempted to swap the two Wild Pyromancers for two Kabal Talonpriests since the Pyromancers don't really seem to do much; it's not really a deck that complements them very well, and the Talonpriest is a very strong card.
I've got a very healthy winrate and so far, I've managed to beat many of the standard decks; burn mage, token shaman, control priest, aggro druid, jade druid & pirate warrior, as well as another dragon priest. I haven't played a Paladin yet, nor a quest warrior, and I lost the only game I played against both a freeze mage and a tempo rogue. Both games were close though. I doubt I will face a quest rogue either now that their quest has been nurfed.
I have tried other variants of dragon priest but this one so far is the one I have had the most success with.
Just an update to my previous post, I've now tried a game swapping the two Wild Pyromancers for two Kabal Talonpriests, and my first impression is that it is a better fit. Especially if you can use their battle cry on one of your Faerie Dragons since it makes it a difficult minion for your opponent to remove.
It was only based on one game though. Pyromancer may also be a better fit for aggro decks such as shaman and druid, but I think that Talonpriest is better otherwise. 10 worth of stats for 3 mana is just too hard to ignore.
Overall though, I am loving this deck very much, thank you for posting it.
Started playing 6 weeks ago. This deck is the most fun I've had yet. Thanks!
Ive been playing a very similar deck recently with a lot of success up to rank 9 so far. I play one copy of Greater Healing Potion though. Against aggro it helps immensely, and against burst Mage it is amazing after Alexstraza. Also you can dig out an extra potion with Shadow Visions when necessary. I think it is an important card for this deck.
this deck vs this deck took ages and lost by rng pff
Gave deck a decent shot and was able to pull some wins at Rank 9 with it. Seems solid and pretty well refined.
- Loved: Elise and shadow visions (Personal Greed Obsesssion)
- Questioning the 1 copy of Dragonfire potion a bit but I understand 2 might be too much especially when you can clone a second with Shadow visions. It's just so good when your own Dragons are immune to the spell.
- Inclusion of Wild Pyromancers and Faerie Dragon good for early game
- Deck where shadow visions plays to it's strength being able to choose 1 of spells
- Puts just enough preasure on opponent to force them to trade valuable spells
- Struggles against Combo Decks
- Can still be rushed down by aggro but has a fighting chance.
Hi, just to say that I love this deck ! Doing very well from rank 15 to 9.
I need some advices against Rogue Quest, how can you manage them ? Coz every time I'm screwed against them if they top deck their key cards.
Hi
I usually win 4 times out of 5 against them so I noticed some tips and tricks that could be beneficial for everyone. First, I've got to say I don't have Ysera so I use Alexstrasza instead, a card that can come in handy sometimes.
Some tips may be obvious but here they are :
Don't go face (unless there's no opposition ofc) but destroy their minions while they're still weak the first five turns. Most of my opponents had their quest achieved on T5 and the 5/5 guys usually start showing up on T6.
During mulligan, don't keep necessarily Dragonfire Potion (my deck has two), you want to get a copy (or two if you're lucky) with Shadow Visions. Seems obvious but once in a while I kept one at mulligan b/c it's a very important card to deal with 5/5 guys and not getting them during play is a very probable defeat. When you have them, keep them religiously to kill as many 5/5 guys as possible. Against two minions I try to use my own dragons to deal with them, I wait for three 5/5 at the bare minimum to throw a potion.
With Drakonid Operative, get only their Shadowstep. Kill an enemy minion and use Shadowstep onto the wounded Drakonid Operative. You can also use Shadowstep on Alexstrasza (if you have it originally in your deck or got it from Netherspite Historian).
I also use one Faceless Shambler in my deck (there's no Wild Pyromancer at all), which can come in handy too to hinder your opponent's attacks (the trick being having his health above 5).
To sum up I'd say, against Quest Rogues, it's all about countering your opponent's moves. So Tar Creeper and Faerie Dragon are helpful in the first stages of the game for that. Primordial Drake is still useful at the end for tempo and ofc it can survive after a potion has been thrown. Elise the Trailblazer won't survive more than one turn, use her to kill one of their minion. I guess her power can be useful too but most of the time the dragons were strong enough to win the game.
The very few times I lost, I couldn't get rid of the weak minions during the first rounds and didn't have a potion on T6 to deal with a board full of 5/5 guys. Game was over on T7.
Well, that's it, hope that helps!
Hey guys !!
It is Kadak here after some time and I showcased this deck so I hope you can enjoy it :)
Just had to make an account to share my thoughts on this. 15-4 with this deck, climbed from 19 to 13 and still climbing. Changed Ysera for Alexstraza just because I can always find an Ysera and don't feel like crafting. Works like a charm still!
Yeah, little update, Now 21-5 with the deck, rank 11. Just played a game where I grabbed Ysera and another Alex. Definitely fun with Alex, if you want aggro or save yourself.
Yeah just lost 2 in a row to Pirate Warrior, Harrison would be a great additive!
Great deck. I made one small change though. Removed one Wild Pyromancer and added in one Inner Fire
The pyromancer I found not really all that useful in this type of deck. Yeah against pirate warrior it was great but that was all it was good for. I added in one inner fire because look at those minions with massive health? Ysera, Primordial Drake, Book Wyrm even. It even saved me by using it on a 4 attack minion and then I could use shadow word! I'm thinking of removing the other pyromancer and adding in a second inner fire.
gl vs aggro lul
Try adding in Priest of the Feasts + 1 Binding Heal if you are having trouble against burn mage.
Whats a good replacement for shadow vision?
