Info:
Beat him after my 3rd try and only lost the 2nd try by 1 HP. I usually play only Warlock, so I don't have many other class specific or off-beat neutral cards. With the exception of Holy Fire, which I happened to have twice, I only used cards that are rather common and which most other players should already have as well.
This isn't meant as a fool-proof deck. I simply shared what worked for me in the end. If you have better cards, obviously use them! e.g. Shadow Madness, Coldlight Oracle,Doomsayer or Mindgames.
Strategy
You want to outlast him to draw his entire deck and die to Fatigue Damage.
Mill for Mind Vision, Shadow Word: Pain and Holy Smite. You want something so you can kill his early minions. You obviously want to get rid of the minions, so give them taunt or attack to trade with his minions. Keep Sunfury Protector, Inner Fire and Defender of Argus for that purpose.
His Abominations actually benefit you! Along with Holy Nova it's almost always a sure death for all his minions.
Use Silence on his buffed Undertaker or less preferable on a Spectral minion on your side, so you don't receive damage. Keep Shadow Word: Death for his Unrelenting Rider.
Use your Hero Power whenever possible with excess mana to heal yourself.
Card alternatives:
In all 3 tries I didn't even draw into Deathlord. In my kill-try I didn't even use Mind Control Tech or Holy Fire, so you can probably replace those, if you don't want to craft any cards. Deathlord is free, is mana-efficient for his body and thins his deck out. I'd probably try 2 if you want to replace Mind Control Tech or a Holy Fire. Abomination might be a great choice as well if you have it, since it gets rid of his AND your minions. If 2 Abominations are on the field, it's most likely a guaranteed full board wipe.
PSA:
Like always, there is a bit of luck involved, in particular with cards such as Mind Vision and Thoughtsteal. Don't give up too fast and just try again or alter your deck slightly. Gothik is by far the most difficult boss so far, so expect a few tries (that goes for any deck).
Video of the deck beating Gothik HC by Kizaru1:
I had Cabal Shadow Priest and put it in here, worked really well. Also used two MCTs. The 0/Xs on his side clogged his board and helped on the fatigue plan. Innerfire on the 0/6 that ping you worked well, and silencing the dudes before you kill them helps a lot.
The Thoughtsteals and Mind Visions may not have been necessary, but occasionally, you get a pretty decent card if you're versitle enough to you it (One swaps toughness and health, getting an abombanation or ghoul can help you setup the board). I might have ran raid leaders over the dire wolf, but they did the job.
Deathlord = All star.
2nd try, great deck, thank you :)
Ty, it worked really well!
I finally did it with this deck!
As said, you have to grind for fatigue. I substituted the 2x Dire Wolf Alfa for 1- and 2-drop taunts. And 1 Holy Fire and 1 Toughtsteal (as I only had one of each) for 2x Sludge Belcher.
Not sure if I'm simply unlucky, but Mind Vision never did anything for me; it either came out late or stole Coin.
Spent over 4 hours failing to beat Gothik.
Oh my god I can't believe this did the trick for me! After weeks of being unable to beat him with various cheap (I'm a new player) decks, I managed to finish Gothik with this deck, with some adjustments!
Thanks very much for this deck!
Got this using this deck, with this changes (because i didn't have all cards):
2x Healing Circle
2xSilence
2x Holy Smite
2x Shadow Word: Pain
2x Shadow Word: Death
1x Dire Wolf Alpha
2x Thoughtsteal
2x Earther Ring Farseer
2x Raid Lider (VERY IMPORTANT)
2x Deathlord
1x Mind Control Tech
2x Dark Iron Dwarf
1x Argus Defender
1x Auchenai Soulpriest
2x Holy nova
1x Holy Fire
1x Cabal Shadow Priest
Good build. Beat it after five or six tries with a couple of mods. Changed out:
2 x Sunfury Protector for 2 x Raid Leader ( I found it easier when the spectral guys were doing at least SOME damage)
1 x Holy Smite and 1 x Holy Fire for 1 extra each Deathlord and Mind Control Tech. I did this because most games I didn't get anywhere close to needing one holy fire let alone two and the MCT really helps curb those mid-game huge rushes in a hurry.
Worked at 2nd try !! Nice deck !!
Just did some changes:
-2 Dire Wolf Alpha
-1 Holy Fire
+2 Coldlight Oracle
+1 Deathlord
This deck definately works. I just beat him and it took somewhere around 5-10 turns. To all you people saying it's useless, first of all GET REAL and realise there is a lot of luck involved when battling the heroic bosses. You have to keep trying. The deck is not the problem. There is no flawless way of winning against these guys. Stop harassing the deck creater because of YOUR lack of patience.
Thanks a lot mate, nice deck! Voted it up
Beautiful. There may have been better card choices, but this worked perfectly on the 1st try just as you have it above. I admit, I got pretty low on life and I thought it was hopeless, but he ran out of steam and I stabilized until he died on fatigue damage. Thanks.
Beat it second try. I replaced both Mind Vision and a Mind Control Tech for a Dark Iron Dwarf, a Cabal Shadow Priest, and a second Deathlord. Thank you!
tried about 10 tries with a few managed to get fatigue but unfortunately still died but it was so close!
made some slight alterations:
-2 inner fire (didnt seem to get much use out of it)
-2 mind vision (never seemed to get anything good)
+1 cabal shadow priest (to steal some ghoulz)
+2 dark iron dwarf (to ram the resummons into a minion to kill them when there were too many. and also a solid 4/4 body to taunt)
+1 deathlord (felt like i needed more taunts)
worked on the 3rd try with this variation! thanks so much for the original deck!
Thank you SO MUCH for this deck. I finally beat Gothik after nearly four days of trying (no kidding). I am a consistent rank 4ish player and like to make my own decks, especially for the Naxx content. I must have lost over a hundred games to Gothik. I simply could not figure him out. I finally tried other constructed decks to beat him, but did no better than my own custom decks.
The very first time I tried your deck I thought I had actually won, but one of his destroyed trainees flipped to my side and killed me, when I had more than enough to finish him off on my very next turn. The second time was simply bad draw and I got destroyed. On my THIRD time with this deck I won, and it wasn't even close.
I did change a couple of cards. I took out Mind Control Tech, and Holy Fire (both) and added Alexstrasa and two coldlight oracles. On my winning game though, I didn't draw any of my replacements.
Again, I thank you. Don't pay any attention to people who bash you when you post a winning deck like this. There will ALWAYS be trolls. I posted decks to beat the last wing's heroic bosses and got some great feedback and a few complainers who just want a perfect deck that one-shots all bosses.
Meh, another RNG deck that someone posts and thinks is amazing because they got lucky the first time they tried it. Utter garbage. I've played about 10 games with this deck and I've barely scratched Gothik in all 10 games. Nub RNG deck FTL.
"Another nub scrub that can't play trololol."
In all seriousness tho, just read the damn text.
If it doesn't work for you, that's totally fine. Not that I even care or that it should work for everyone. It's just not meant as a copy-and-paste-trololol-i-win-gg deck. I made this with the cards that I personally own. I tried the encounter with a variance of decks that I made (warlock and priest) and this worked for me in the end. When I posted this, I was one of the very first to beat the encounter with a somewhat inexpensive deck. I just tried to help people to give them an idea for a deck basis. According to the comments it did work in the vanilla version or slightly altered for many others as well, so maybe the problem is not solely based on the deck, but you as well.
I'm mystified how anyone is winning with this deck. "It's kinda reliant on luck."
Noooo, really?!?!?!
Took me several tries, but I managed to win. Had 2 HP left and ended up healing myself as he ran out of cards. Thanks!
