ARCHETYPE EXPLANATION
Freeze Mage is a combo deck that has been around since the beginning of Hearthstone. In the most simple terms possible, Freeze Mage revolves around cycling through your deck, drawing Alexstrasza, and then using burn spells to kill your opponent.
Freeze Mage sort of plays a solitaire game plan, mostly executing its own strategy and building towards its win condition rather than interacting with board via minion combat.
Journey to Un'Goro gave the deck Arcanologists, which allows you to dig the secrets out of your deck and provide a solid early-game body to contest the board.

META AND FEATURED DECK
Freeze Mage places in at the top of tier 2 this week as Mage's shell proves to just be ultra powerful with the addition of Arcanalogist and Primordial Glyph, arguably two of the strongest cards in the whole expansion. Primordial Glyph lets you make sped up plays that normally wouldn't happen otherwise or find the additional points of burn you need sometimes scoring a second Pyroblast or third Fireball.
One of the major things Freeze Mage benefited from was the Control Warrior matchup not being unwinnable anymore, as they have less life gain. Also, not all Paladins are running life gain at the moment, as many Murloc Paladins went even more aggressive cutting cards like Lightlord and Lay on Hands. However, occasionally you will run into the guy that plays Forbidden Healing Control Paladin or the random Priest with Priest of the Feast into a billion spells and be sad.
Mage's core is just so powerful in this expansion, expect Freeze Mage or other Mage variants to be near the top for weeks to come.
