Intro

Hello! My name is SenTineL; I'm a Bulgarian Hearthstone player. I'm  playing the game for the FUN of it, and not to pursue some great glory and internet immortality :P I want to show you a budget deck that is useful for climbing the ladder (at least till rank 5). At the moment of writing this I have reached rank 5 in EU using this deck. It is as well a budget version of the standard pirate warrior. I don't have Leeroy Jenkins and Patches the Pirate but this doesn't mean that you can't play this archetype.

I have a growing YouTube Channel, so feel free to check it out as well. SenTineL Gaming

When it comes to pirate decks, the goal is simple! Finish your opponents before they have chance to pull out their late game and power cards. This kind of deck is strong against other aggro decks and can also deal with some control decks. Pirate warrior is weakest against mid-range decks ,but again it all depends on your opponents and situations. General strategy would be to use your weapon to clear the board for your minions to attack enemy face. In this new version I use one Execute to deal with some big taunt minion. Also my version includes Vicious Fledgling as it has proven to be quite useful.

Mulligan

This deck mulligans pretty much the same way for most of the classes. I will talk about the cards that are always a keep, and after that about more situational cards that you want to have sometimes.

Always a keep (only one copy) :

  •  N'Zoth's First Mate - this is the best card you can start with ! Gives you a weapon immediately. It has good synergy for other cards you have.
  • Fiery War Axe - The best weapon card in the game. You need this not to go face with it, but to clear the board of your opponent early game. Use it wisely! If you got an Upgrade!, then you may go face for one chrge.

Coul be useful (again only one copy) :

  • Bloodsail Raider - you keep this when you go second and have the coin + Fiery War Axe. You can also keep it if you already have N'Zoth's First Mate in hand. The buff is not going to be big (2 mana for 3/3) but at least you can go on curve now.
  • Frothing Berserker - only keep if you know what will you do on turn 1 and 2. You can coin this bad guy on turn 2 with the coin, for classes that have hard time dealing with him.
  • Vicious Fledgling - at this point I have only one of those and I'm seriously considering putting another one. If protected this little guy can win you the game all by himself. Keep in hand only if you have a good turn 1 and 2.
  • Dread Corsair - If you start with a Fiery War Axe in hand and you got the coin, you might want to keep this dude as well.  You may coin the axe and second turn you may play him for one mana or even for 0 if you got the Upgrade! as well.

Substitutions - for you rich bastards out there :P

1x Reckless Rocketeer for 1x Leeroy Jenkins.

1x Naga Corsair for 1x Patches the Pirate

If you are soo poor that you don't even have 2x Southsea Captain, you may replace them with 2x Raid Leader
