Just reached top 10 legend with this Ramp Druid list, aiming for no. 1. 20 upvotes and I'll write a guide!
Tech choice: -1 Malorne, -1 Sludge Belcher; +1 Stalagg, +1 Feugen
Upon revision, I deemed Y'shaarj not suitable for this deck because it just pulls out a weak minion far too often. Swapped for Deathwing. Dark Arakkoa added to smooth out the curve.
Mulligan: Keep Innervate, Wild Growth, Darnassus Aspirant. Innervate and a 4 drop is usually fine. If you know your opponent is aggro and don't have any of them, keep Forager, Raven Idol and Wrath, but only one. Agaisnt most matchups, mulligan exclusively for early ramp. Your win condition is still ramp, ramp and ramp, and you can stabilize against aggro with a well-time Earthen Scales, so don't be greedy with your Foragers. One is enough.
If you can get a two turn lethal before they do. it's advised to hit face. But this needs to take into consideration his removals and board swing options. When you get big dudes on board, you should go face before he can draw into his removals. You should have tons of big dudes to slam down anyway, so only trade when needed.
Wild Growth is usually a better turn 2 play then Darnassus Aspirant, unless you really need that board presence.
I've decided to not include Anaconda anymore. Pulls out my N'zoth far too often.
Malorne is OP in this deck for every control matchup, and chillmaw is good taunt with deathrattle. But you can put any counter-aggro card, like primodial drake or, maybe, healbot.
also had a higher winrate dropping the high cost cards and trading them for lower cast taunt minions. The Tortollan Forager provides you with high cost cards anyway.
Hi, i'm in ranked 4-2 . I have played face shaman and i dont get legend yet. I could use your deck but i dont have chillmaw, abominación could work? Orthe new dragón 4/8? Thanks
Both are decent, test them out and see which one you like better :D
2x Second Rate Bruiser works really good for me.
Without Innervate and Wild Growth turn 1-3 are completely f*cked up
Thats a good insurance therefore and something you can keep in mulligan
I feel like the list is fine as it is right now, but I don't know your meta.
why no azure drakes though?, i always felt that azure drake is essintial for these rampy kind of druids.
Since most matches I am facing right now are decided in turn 2-7 (like Egg Druid)
I have decided to make
+ 2 Second Rate Bruiser
- Sylvanas (too slow in Aggro)
- Kel Thuzad (same)
Deck looks now really strong to me! Still a bit vurnable though if we are unlucky and dont get our cheating cards (Innervate, Wild Growth) at the beginning. Which happens a lot. Some Ramp Decks even consider to run 1x Jade Blossom to get more speed, but that's a bit bizare still. However it could fit as we have no 3 mana card, also 1x Feral Rage could possibly fit as guaranteed 8 armor = more time.
If you dont get your cheating cards what will definitely safe you is if you have drawn your removals at the beginning, most importantly Swipe. Wrath is for crucial 3 health minions (Murloc Warleader, Ship's Cannon etc.) which need instant removal in aggro decks.
Because the deck is very weak with a bad mulligan, I decided to take out slow Kel Thuzad and took in 1x Druid of the Claw (5). Kel is not core in this deck, unlike in a control shaman deck for example, where you can Reincarnate Kel to get a huge board.
2x Dark Arakkoa looks good to me, no need for Ancient of War. Possibly 1x copy could find place though.
Finally, Malorne is back and I think thats a good thing with Chillmaw and other taunts. Because without Malorne your N'Zoth is usually very weak. Only Sludge Belger and Boom Bots usually. So probably Malorne(7) is preferred over Cenarius (9), also taking into account the mana cost and the fact that Ancient of War (7) is preferable face protection than Cenarius.
Since you run no 3 or 4mana minions anymore, I think at least one Druid of the Claw is needed. What do you think? Also in Aggro decks you think its fine to keep Belcher in mulligan?
(I was also considering 2x Second Rate Bruiser, which allows you to play a decent taunt usually at 3 mana cost. Which is a great thing since we have limited removals and rely on outvalue our opponent).
Hello kingsdefender,
Here are my thoughts about the recent changes :) if you want you can re-comment. So we have a little discussion rolling. Replacing Malorne with Chillmaw is definitely the right way to go. Its a tech card for Control if you are looking for additional value.
Chillmaw however is the taunt you are looking for in such an aggresive meta. As we all know 80% of the decks out there in Wild are Egg Druid, Zoolock, Pirate Warrior, Murloc Shaman, Murloc Paladin, Secret Paladin, Midrange Hunter, Tempo Mage. Which are all very aggressive, brainless decks that go face with everything they have. Malorne is in my opinion a big guy often ignorred, whereas taunts cannot be ignorred.
Replacing Raven Idol with Darnassus Aspirant is a good thing. However needs to be tested further. As I really liked the unique volatility. However, our main win condition is FAST ramping up. Thats why I am happy about that.
But now since you deleted both Raven Idols I dont understand Fendral. I never actually understood. Because the dream of playing Fendal (4) and then Nourish (5) is really unlikely by all means. Instead of Fendral I am playing now a card which you ignorred completely so far: Cenarius. So much value with this guy if you have a board, also usually the double taunt will give you more time to finish him down.
Since you deleted Y'Shaarj (which is ok in an N'Zoth deck) Cenarius its a good choice I think. With Y'Shaarj Ancient of War has never been a good choice actually. Bog Creeper was more reliable I think. But now Ancient of War is perfect.
Taking out Barnes is fine, since our Deathrattle cards are actually limited. However I dont understand Azure Drake. 2x Nourish and Late game Wild Growth is enough in my opinion. You are even running 2x Wrath. Why not Druid of the Claw (5) or even Dark Arakkoa (6) ? In the middle game to stabilise further? I will try one of both of them.
Also Ysera vs. Deathwing is something I feel is important. Deathwing has won me a lot of games actually.
There is not much time in most aggro decks and Ysera is too unreliable mostly. Laughing Sister is not what I need most of the time..
FInally Ramp Druid is extremely vurnable to Sap, Hex etc. If things go wrong Deathwing is your chance to come back.
Other cards I am thinking about are Baron Geddon and Aviana. No place so far. Cheers!
I took your advices and revised my deck as above. I rate Dark Arakkoa higher than Ancient of War in this deck because we had many 7 drops already, so it's better to smooth out the curve. Playtested several games, but Deathwing hasn't been useful in any, but I'm not sure if Ysera would've been better.
Cenarius sounds like a good idea, but I omitted him because I don't have him.
First time I had to use him. Discarded my whole hand, but won the match.
I really want to like this deck, but after losing vs. two pirates, a freeze mage, a murloc pally, a face hunter and only winning vs. two lol decks I'm not seeing how this could do well.
Murloc pally might be a touch matchup, but I'd say other matchups are fine, especially freeze mage
Man, I've lost 0 games from 14 2 stars to 11 4 stars. This is amazing!
LATER EDIT: Rank 8 2 stars and climbing. 4 losses only. WR is above 70%. I tech'd an Eater of secrets for secret Paladin matchups and it works great.
How do you use Nourish? Strictly ramping up?
Since you are mostly quite low on cards, why no Deathwing?
And last question: how often did Y'Shaarj pulled out N'Zoth for you? Played now 20 times, fortunately did not happen to me yet.
Not often, but Y'Shaarj pulling out N'Zoth is often still a good enough tempo.
I'd say 80% of the time the first Nourish is used for ramping. You'd want yourself around 7 or 8 mana ASAP, before that it'd generally be used for ramping.
Malorne is just personal preference, and it brings tons of values. But you could replace it with other big dudes to your liking, preferably synergistic with N'Zoth, the Corruptor or Fandral Staghelm
The deck is awesome, really good job! My favourite ramp druid at the moment.
What do you think about replacing Malorne with Chillmaw (7 drop + taunt + deathrattle)
and Chromaggus for KelThuzad (8 drop)
And most importantly, how do you beat quest rogue?
Chillmaw is too low of an impact in a grindy match, while Malorne comes back again and again and add to a huge N'Zoth. Chromaggus seems okay but if I run Chromaggus I'd rather run Ysera.
You just have to ramp really really fast then beat up their face. That's the only way I see winning vs quest rogue.
