Hello!
Welcome to one of my takes on the Hunter Quest.
(check out some of my other Marsh Queen Decks!)
SHORT AND SWEET
The point of this deck is to draw cards and control the early game by micro-managing your opponent's board with removals, freezes, etc. (1-drops) in order to complete your quest by turn (6) or (7). If you can play Hemet before Queen Carnassa, that's great, but not always advised. Queen Carnassa's Raptors are GREAT card draw and has synergy with the rest of your deck (which consists mostly of more card draw!)
Pro Tips -
- Do not be afraid to play Tracking because of the discard mechanic..you want to discard the cards you do not need so that you can complete the quest quicker.
- Make good judgement on Doomsayer, I personally find that he fills in the missing turn (4) quite nicely along with Dirty Rat
- Save some card draw if possible to attempt to pull Tundra Rhino after playing Hemet, Jungle Hunter
- Always be thinking in terms of control. Poke accordingly and maintain board control. Save the face-hunting for late game. I guarantee it's a lot of fun. :)
- MAKE USE OF YOUR UTILITY (1)-drops. They're designed to assist you in controlling the board.
Why these (1)-drops?
I've decided after thorough experimentation that these are the best in terms of board control/manipulation.
("Battlecry" in following depicts synergy with Youthful Brewmaster)
- Elven Archer - Great removal when paired with Hunter's Mark. Also can be used for a nasty snipe when combo'd with Dirty Rat. Battlecry
- Fire Fly - Tanky for a (1)-drop. Battlecry. Quickest quest completion if targeted by Brewmaster
- Glacial Shard - Freeze a Target. Battlecry...freeze several targets in one turn. ;P
I personally think of Glacial Shard and Elven Archer as reusable spells when combo'd with Youthful Brewmaster. Fire Fly is to complete the quest the fastest.
Legendaries
- The Marsh Queen - The whole reason for this deck
- Hemet, Jungle Hunter - The guy who can give you the clean Carnassa deck swap
- King Krush - Closing power. Plus it's nice to see a King and Queen together :D
- Deathwing - good when playing around Queen Carnassa
Match-ups
- Rogue - Winnable. Use your Doomsayers/Dirty Rats wisely. Pulling their quest focused minion from hand could be game ending. Keep control of her board.
- Warrior - my personal favorite matchup. Comes down to how well you manage board.
- Paladin - Tough matchup. Especially so when pali is playing silver recruit deck.
- Shaman - The hardest matchup. Shamans are running either heal/elements or murlocs at them moment. Controlling either board is very tough if Doomsayer afk's
- Warlock - similar to Shaman if opponent plays zoo. Very hard matchup
---------------- if you are facing a taunt deck, you should excel.
- Hunter - Skill matchup. A prideful win, disheartening loss. Comes down to card draw.
- Mage - The easiest to complete the quest. Find Flare before playing Hemet, Jungle Hunter. It will help you to secure the win.
- Druid - Try to mess up his jade deck by using Dirty Rat and Doomsayer. It could really do a lot of damage to the foundation of the Druid deck.
- Priest - Dirty Rat and Doomsayer really mess up his health buff battlecry's.
The problem with this deck is I feel like i can semi-consistently get the combo down but i die shortly after. I like Swamp King Dred but I am trying to find ways to earn a good balance of control and card draw to get to and survive until the combo works. Anyone have any ideas?
check Tol'vir Warden, Youthful Brewmaster, Tracking, and other forms of card draw. It's incredibly easy to find, play, and replay your quest minions.
I've tried the jeweled macaw, and it does have synergy with the tundra rhino, but all-in-all i found it to be too inconstant in dealing with the situation at hand.
Great idea want to make this idea work so bad. How is your winrate with this deck? What rank are you peaking at?
Let me tell you by tomorrow. I have to admit that there is quite a learning curve to this deck. Especially when playing around tracking. I feel I am getting the hang of it and I am winning more (maybe 2/3rd? idk gotta reset my deck tracker to get exact win percentage). I am peaking at the moment between rank 9-10.
