DECK DESCRIPTION

This Elemental mage uses ice and fire as a one-two punch. Ice for tempo and fire to burn face to victory. Slow to start but a heavy finisher making use of the new Elementals in Un'goro to chain up value on turns 3-7. Much like other Mage decks you will decide to go "all-in" at some point in the game hitting face with minions and spells while hiding behind your powerful secrets.

DECK GOALS

Ideally you want to start your elemental chain on turn 3 with Tar Creeper. This leads into two great bodies Steam Surger and Water Elemental. Great value on turn 5 with Servant of Kalimos. Then on turn six you up the tempo with Frost Elemental. And finally the elemental chain ends on turn 7 with the powerful and versatile Blazecaller. If the chain breaks or stumbles you will be looking to land a Doomsayer plus Frost Nova so you can again play minions each turn. With the powerful secrets Ice Block and Ice Barrier there's a point in the game when you need to count damage over several turns in order to go "all-in." Frost Nova can be a great time walk card in order to bash face with your board.

THE MULLIGAN

Unlike most mage decks you will be starting on turn 2. You always want to keep Arcanologist, Doomsayer, Frostbolt, Pyros, Tar Creeper, and generally Volcanic Potion. Playing turn 2 Doomsayer is very common with this deck.

TECH CHOICES

No cards are teched in for specific match-ups. Ice Barrier could be switched for Counterspell if you aren't worried about face decks.

THINGS TO NOTE

Like most decks you are never all-in from the start. This can generally happen when you land a Frost Elemental on a large target which can lead to your Blazecaller to go for face instead of board control. Fireballs and Firelands Portals can finish from there. Volcanic Potion becomes a strong AoE late game when you go face. Your opponent will make favorable trades on board leaving low health minions. Pyros is a must craft for this deck I believe. It's an amazing play landing the 6-cost version after a Doomsayer + Frost Nova combo on turn 5.
