Look how scared the little punk looks... Das' because he aint got nothing against this sweet deck yo.
Info about Noth, the Plaugebringer
Noth doesn't really have a strong early game. Due to this, having a good starting hand can seal the deal with this deck. However, he has a few tricks up his sleeve due to his amount of secrets. He plays Duplicate, Ice Block and Counterspell. Due to his hero power summoning a 5/5 skeleton for each minion on your own board dying, avoiding trades killing your own minions is key.
"How do I play around Plague?", is a question that seems to reappear. The best way is to be cautious with not overfilling the board with too many bodies for him to kill. Put out minions when in need of board control. Shadow Word: Death is a very good card if he happens to use Plague.
Other than that, justboy68 made a spot on quote about this spell.
"I think like you say plague is one of those disgusting cards that you really can't do much about."
Mulligan
The Lightwell is superb against this boss, which means always keep it if you get it. Along with this card, it's brilliant to start with an Inner Fire along with some kind of control-keeper. Examples for these cards are: Northshire Cleric, Power Word: Shield and Lightspawn.
Playstyle
Always avoid trading enemy minions that causes your own minions to die. This is why you want to have the Lightwell up early. In games where you feel it's going too slow, you have Alexstrasza as a backup to really push him down to lethal range.
With this being said, keep board control as much as possible and make the right trades. Do not play minions if you are aware that they will die. Don't be afraid to use your Shadow Word: Pain and Shadow Word: Death, these cards are in the deck to avoid you being forced to make bad trades and keep the control of the board. By playing like this, I have not lost a single time out of my 5 takedowns on him.
Here is a video of me playing the deck:
Replacements
Do you not have Alexstrasza? Worry not!
Alexstrasza can be replaced with some kind of heavy minion. I'll try a few replacements and see which one is best, but for now I'd say Boulderfist Ogre is a nice pick. Another idea of a replacement would be Maexxna. Reason being it's a hard body for Noth to kill, whilst it trades perfectly to remain board control.
If you need more replacement strategies, please do comment and I'll update the thread with answers.
More info coming soon!
So I used this deck. Amazing to the point of funny. Turn 3 I played my well and buffed it. Doubled the hp and made it 17/17. Three turns later he was dead.
good deck, got it in the first attempt turn 7
Beating Noth before he Plagues is out of the question. If you try to do it that way, you are doing it wrong. He has only two Plagues, and plan around him using both during the game. Before his first Plague, you probably want to play just one minion, either a Lightspawn or (ideally) a Lightwell + Inner Fire. Keep pumping heals into the minion and killing his minions, and he will eventually kill your guy with Plague.
After that first Plague, you can hopefully kill the skeleton quickly with SW:D or Holy Fire (bait the counterspell with some junk card if you need to). By now, you hopefully have the mana and cards to summon and buff up new minion that was even better than the old one, to start taking out Noth's late game minions (which still aren't impressive).
When Noth drops his second Plague, throw everything you have at him for the win. You can also just outlast him and make him draw more than he wants to through his cultist cards. I ended up winning the game by dropping him to 15 with Alextrasza, nuking him down to 1 hp, and then letting him fatigue himself to death (he had an Ice Block, but secrets can't trigger during your turn!)
This looks like the way to win. You will get shit on repeatedly using the guide waiting for stars to align.
LOL i was 1 turn from lethal and then I died from fatigue (from 30 hp) because I had too many lightwells and clerics
If you get very specific cards early this boss is beatable with this deck. Took about 11 tries
Noth was causing me the greatest difficulty by far out of the first six heroic encounters, enough so that I had to look up a guide. Zeto's Priest got me over the hump; heavily buffed Lightwells and Lightspawns are very effective, you just have to dodge the Plague. Crazed Alchemist is a non-issue so long as you buff the Lightwell's attack on the same turn you put it down.
Thanks, Zeto.
Ok. I am SICK and tired of this MFer using crazed alchemist to kill a lightwell anytime I play it. I literally have to wait till I draw inner fire to even play one b/c he will just kill it with crazed alchemist then get a damn 5/5 skeleton. Maybe it is bad luck? Idk but this deck only has two good answers to the skeletons, so if you have more than 2 minions die your kinda screwed.
EDIT: I realize you also can play the holy fires against skeletons, but you can also get screwed by counterspell.
This is a poor deck to use against this heroic minion. Doesn't do enough board clear
Took me about 5 tries. I don't have Alexstrasza, so I subbed in Gruul. Worked wonders. Only kept 2 minions of mine on the board at a time.
So this deck, like a few others, is a fine deck for Heroic Noth. However, as with the other decks (bar Miracle), it's all down to the luck of when Noth has Plague in his hand. If he has straight away on 6 mana, you're likely boned. Took me 6 tries with this deck until he finally didn't have Plague until 8 mana and by that stage he was an easy kill.
It's a nice match but the Plague card seems a bit over the top for only 6 cost - even considering it's heroic imo.
Thanks for posting it, nice work. :)
all teemos must die :3
Guys just remember that whoever the boss is, frost mage beats him with no problems :D
How do you deal with Noth's spell Plague?
beat him first try with this deck, nice.
Never lasted long, won it on turn 7 after some insane draws. T1 Cleric, T2 PW:S+Innerfire on cleric, T3 Lightwell, T4 Inner Fire on LW, T5 Lightspawn, T6 Lightspawn+Divine Spirit on the one in play, T7 Sentinel for +3HP buff on Lightspawn to secure exact leathal.
The health on Loatheb dropped quite faste, to say the least. Here's the health per turn:
45>40>35>30>23>13>0(dead)
Would Maexna be a better replacement for Alexstrasza than Boulderfist Ogre? 1 more health and being able to kill any minion sounds pretty nice to me :)
