What a glorious day, you guys made me want to stream again. You can check me out right now, will work on a schedule. Love getting to know the HearthPwn family better.
Hi friends, I'm back with another deck! This season I wan't to reach legend with decks I created only, in the quickest or most fun way possible. My Face Hunter seemed to stagnate around rank 7 so I decided time to make another deck for those last ranks and it absolutely rocks! I took a look at paladin because it got some good new cards and this control style deck is what I came up with after 1 or 2 games. I fixed the absence of Azure Drake and good 4-drops with a nice The Curator package. it's absolutely insane so far, going 31-7 from rank 8 to 3!
Feel free to add me and spectate while I'currently playing this deck.
I'm a multiple times legend player and infinite arena player. I wil write detailed guide for mulligans an card choices once the deck gets some love.
SHORT GUIDE: This deck can out-last, out-value or fatigue almost every opponent. These are the win conditions. This deck is so good in what it does due to the absolute board clears, the immense value Stonehill Defender gives in paladin (class cards 60% so totally normal to get a second Tyrion Sunkeeper Tarim or Wickerflame), anti aggro cards like Fire Fly, Dirty Rat, Doomsayer and Spikeridged Steel, the general quality of minions and the card draw from The Curator etc.
Against aggro match ups: Mulligan for firefly, doomsayer and Stonehill defender and keep concecration most times. Then just play on curve and use the board clears wisely. Spikeridged steel is usually the nail in the coffin.
Against other: Mulligan for Twilight Drake and Stonehill Defender. play on curve and bait out his full board to use board clears well. Don't forget to make a dude when you play Sunkeeper. Use Stonehill to get another Tyrion or Tarim ;)
BTW SHOUTOUT TO Stonehill Defender ! What an absolute sick card in Paladin decks. Always a Tyrion, Wickerflame or Sunkeeper Tarim!
PROOF AND WINRATES: Winrates
Winrate is actually 31-7 due to two disconnects, one certain win became a loss and the other decktracker just didnt count the eventual win. New proof coming.
favorite part about that game. the priest eats one of his Aetish charges thinking he still had the Truesilver equipped.
Just got legend for the first time ever with this deck.
There's a midrange paladin on Tempostorm in Tier 1 which uses murlocs in the early game, but this is just as consistent and better in control match-ups. Amazing deck!
I'm the one who is using -2 Fire Fly and +1 Ysera / +1 Primordial Drake
add a second Wild Pyromancer as well
a think is very important to know well the current meta, to know what kind of deck you are facing, to know what to keep or look on the mulligan, for example Dirty Rat is really important against most of the quests decks, so if you see they don't change the first card on the left, you should keep it or look for it when you mulligan
depending on what you are facing you should rush (for example against mage) or not, most of the time the win condition is to control your opponent until they have no threats and give up hahaha this deck have a lot of removals so it shouldn't be difficult (I even won against jade druid), try not to overextend saving stuff on your hand 3 minions on board are okey
with Hydrologist against mage look for Eye for an Eye, against aggro Noble Sacrifice for early board control, Getaway Kodo is really helpful (you can also get it from Ivory Knight)
Always have been still a major fan of seriously skilled control decks. Question though, how well does this deck perform vs the mirror, murloc paladin and those ever so annoying PATIENT taunt warriors?
I haven't lost against warriors yet (5-0),won against the only murloc paladin I played, and haven't played the mirror probably you should mulligan for Twilight Drake
This deck has done really well for me against Murloc Pally, I think I'm like 6-2. I have a second pyro in for a twilight drake to better get to the eq pyro clear which is huge against Murlocs, especially Finjah. Taunt Warrior is a trickier matchup but still favored. Silverhand Recruits help absorb Rag shots.
Noob question here: I have no Sunkeeper Tarim nor Ragnaros, Lightlord. Wich one should I craft 1st for this deck? Thanks.
ps: dont have enough dust for both.
both are really good cards, but I think Ragnaros, Lightlord is the choice, the healing have been really important in a lot of matchups I played specially against aggro, plus you can use it in other paladin decks
I would suggest going for Sunkeeper Tarim for one reason and that is its gonna last for 2 years to come while Ragnaros, Lightlord will last 1 year till it get ripped in pepperoni (rotating to the wild everlasting hall of fame collection). Wallet/dust value wise, Sunkeeper Tarim is your best bet. In-game value and board impact, I believe Ragnaros, Lightlord is more impactful. After all, your decision my fellow player.
GLHF.
this deck made me straight from rank 13 to rank 5 with a really high WR 92% I want to give the thanks to the creator, is the most effective deck I played since the expansion was released, I even won games that I had 1 health so never loose hope when playing it
I made 3 changes -2 Fire Fly +1 Ysera +1 Primordial Drake, the reason is that they give more value to The Curator and both are great cards for the late game, for me the deck manage to control really well the early without those two one-drops (and you don't draw them in the late when they are useless)
also -1 Twilight Drake + 1 Wild Pyromancer, to reach more easily the Pyro +Equality combo
I even won against a quest rogue that completed the quest in turn 4 and managed to play more than 9 Flame Elemental
One sick combo is Wickerflame Burnbristle + Spikeridegd Steed some times mange to restore you to full health
that would be a tough thing to replace, Curator offers potentially 3 draws, and it has taunt. I don't think anything can replace that, sorry about your situation
I made a 17 win strike in a raw. From rank 13 to 9 without lose. I had never before such a good deck.
Sometimes Tyrion saved me 3-4 times in one game.
Replacement for Sunkeeper? Second Dirty Rat? Lay on Hands?
Sunkeeper is so good tho.
i'm wondering is it worth to craft rag and wicker since they'll be gone next year D:
ONE FUCKING YEAR
I dont have wicker, and dont find him to be necessary. You can discover him fairly often. I would say just add a forbidden healing.
Great Deck !
One problem: The Drake is rather low on HP (due to not having that many cards in hand all the time and missing draw in the deck)
I've had a good experience by replacing both drakes: One with Forbidden Healing (awesome for those fatigue games in a pally vs pally mirror) and a Defender of Argus for that extra taunt when all else has failed XD
