This was the first deck I made after the Un'Goro launch. The Marsh Queen was the most interesting card to me in all of the reveals leading up to release, so it was the first card I crafted out of the new set. Getting it to actually work is a bit more of a challenge, though.
In a typical Hunter deck, Savannah Highmane is good play on turn 6. In a Quest Hunter deck, you will typically have the quest completed by turn 4 (but not in this one, as I have tried to give it more longevity), and thus it will be time to play Queen Carnassus on turn 5. An 8/8 is a great 5-drop (although it typically gets targeted by immediate removal), but then your turn 6 tends to look something like a 3/2 raptor and an Fiery Bat.
Tol'vir Wardens help this somewhat by increasing the likelihood that you will begin a series of drawing a good many of the card-drawing raptors.
The most likely win conditions here are simply overwhelming numbers (boosted by wolves) or a massive charge turn granted by the Tundra Rhinos.
Hey, RandomGrin! Thanks for trying it out, and for the comments. You are right about it taking longer than turn 4. My first version took only until turn 4 to finish the quest, but it powerfully sucked, so I tried to give it some legs. I'll try to edit the description to make that more clear. I really meant to say that it is POSSIBLE to finish the quest on turn 4 with a Marsh Queen deck, but then every other turn kind of sucks."
Let me know if you come up with any good ideas to improve the play of this kind of deck. I was so excited about the Hunter quest, but it's kind of lame...
"will typically have the quest completed by turn 4"
I don't think so.
Tried your deck. Its probably about as good as a Marsh deck can be, I completed quest on turns 6,8,6,5,6 so far. And the turn 5 was a big loss.
So I'm stupid or I mulligan wrong? I don't think so.
Its just barely possible to complete it on turn 4; there is no way it is typical.
If you go 2nd, you have received 7 cards + Marsh queen. If ONE of those cards is Tundra, Houndmaster, Grievous, Dinomancy, Tol'vir or kill command, I'm pretty sure its impossible or close to impossible to complete on turn 4.
And if you get one Stampede or Igneous you need a lot of luck.
And if you go first...the odds are worse.
Its a good deck, but as far as I can tell March Queen sucks compared to several other decks.
My win rate is better with Mage Secrets/Kazakas... and who thinks that it competitive?
Its a decent deck, but completing on turn 4 is fantastic luck, not 'typical'.
