NOT A SINGLE EPIC. NOT A SINGLE LEGENDARY.

GOOD AGAINST AGGRO. UNDEFEATED VS. QUEST ROGUE OVER 20+ GAMES

Rank 10 Against Midrange Beast Hunter

Update 4/9/17

(-) 2x Sunfury Protector

(+) 2x Darkshire Alchemist

Darkshire Alchemist is more flexible and effective than Sunfury Protector. It can restore damaged Razorleaf after trade, heal own face if needed, or combo with Auchenai to remove minions / more burst to close the game.

Overview - How it works

The core card of this deck is no other than Humongous Razorleaf. With its highly-stated health, it is practically impossible for various quest archetypes to remove this card without dumping their hands or trade the whole board in, which the opponent is unwilling to do - I mean, it's a card that can't attack. A silence in the following turn or give it taunt will force the opponent to deal with this card. With excess amount of silences and Shadow Word: Death, you can easily go through late game taunts and finish your opponent with the surprise Mind Blast.

Rogue with 2/4 Quest Completion on Turn 2, Concedes on Turn 5

General Strategy:

 1. Get those high stat silence targets into your board ASAP.

2. Use Northshire Cleric and Circle of Healing wisely. Know when to draw and when to trade and heal your silenced minions.

3. Silence enemy taunt minion and...

G O   F A C E

4. Silence your frozen Frozen Crusher or Bittertide Hydra (if you have it) for another surprise 8 damage face & an 8/8 your opponent need to deal with

I Want to Improve This Deck. I HAVE $$$:

*Cards are listed in order of impact on the deck

Bittertide Hydra: Include this card if you got it from the new packs. Even if you do not have this behind taunt putting this card on the board is still preeeety good: enemy minions are going to go face anyway, so if they decided to trade into this card you essentially trade a few hitpoints with enemy minions when you can heal right back with Darkshire Alchemist if you need to.

Faceless Shambler: Another activator that is better than Spellbreaker in most cases. The opponent has to deal with this card without you playing a follow-up card. This can easily activate on turn 4 as there does not exist a solution to your Razorleaf - even if the opponent can remove it he will be reluctant to do so, since the card is not silenced yet. (yes, you NEVER play a can't attack minion with a silence on the same turn)

Leeroy Jenkins: You wouldn't need to worry about the 2 1/1's because your taunt have you covered. Take out 1 Auchenai for Leeroy if you have it, as the second Auchenai is mostly for direct damage with your hero power / Alchemis when you try to close the game.

Order of cards to take out when you got cards above:

1. 1x Darkshire Alchemist

2. 1x Spellbreaker

3. 1x Auchenai Soulpriest

4. 1x Shadow Word: Death

5. 1x Frozen Crusher

Match-ups and Mulligans:

 General Mulligan

Try to get one of the Ancient Watchers or Humongous Razorleafs. Only then mulligan for silence effects, as the deck has excessive activators.

Quest Rogue - Highly Favored

Try to mulligan for Watcher and Razorleaf. Tar Creeper is nice to have too.

Just make sure to set up board right before the opponent is about to play the quest reward. Without serious trades you should be able to have a huge board by turn 5/6

Quest Mage/Warrior/Druid/Paladin/Hunter - Highly Favored

Follow the general mulligan strategy. These decks generally cost them an arm and a leg to remove the 3 mana 4/8's. Silence their buffed or taunt minions and go face.

For Hunter, also consider mulligan for Northshire Cleric. Trades with cats pretty well and get card draw next turn if you didn't get a watcher.

Play smart into Vaporize and Potion of Polymorph. You have some activators and silencers for that purpose. Also consider maximizing profit playing around Mana Bind and Mirror Entity. They wouldn't appreciate a purify or a mirrored watcher.

Aggro Pirate Warrior / Rogue - Highly Favored

It is usually hard to say who is favored in Aggro vs. Aggro match-ups, but this deck differs in that you can literally shift your deck archetype into early game control. Force your opponent to trade into your taunted Ancient Watchers and Razorleafs and, most importantly, your Tar Creeper. So consider mulligan for it against warriors.

Generally you'd like to trade into their minions in early game. But if you see your minion capable of being killed by enemy weapon, then go face. Worst case, Auchenai + Circle combo will save you.

Midrange Beast Hunter - Highly Favored

Consider mulligan for Northshire Cleric over watcher or razorleaf (no blizzard game pun intended), since it is a card draw threat against enemy one-drops and you might force them to coin out a 2-drop adapt a beast card that does nothing. Going second watchers and cleric are equally favored.

Jade Druid - Slightly Favored

Also follow the general mulligan strategy and build up early game damage. However the main troublesome card in that deck is Fandrall, as it is hard to remove since it has 5 health (your watchers and razorleafs are 4 attack) so you'd either need a Argus to buff it up or throw a silence effect onto Fandrall. Yes, you need to deal with Fandrall to win the game.

Handlock - Evenly Favored

Against warlocks it is either a hit or miss - depends on how quick you get your watchers and razorleafs onto the board and silenced. You should try to build up damage before turn 5 and do not trade into their minions. This will discourage them from drawing or even play the abyssal enforcer in later stages of the game

Elemental Shaman - Evenly Favored

Racking up early game damages is relatively easy, but shamans have some removals such as Hex and some annoying heals such as Jinyu Waterspeaker and Hotspring Guardian. It is really easy to lose your steam in mid games.

Again, in these cases, Auchenai + Circle is your friend. But your mulligan should still follow the general guide.

Quest / Dragon Priest - Evenly Favored

In early game you are favored against these two types of priest, since Ancient Watcher and Humongous Razorleaf has 4 attack and they are going to be a huge headache for priests. However, it is really easy to misplay, or sometimes you are forced to play, Defender of Argus to have your precious minions removed by Shadow Word: Death. Also, both of these decks run Dragonfire Potion, which actually is effective board clear that you will have a hard time playing around. So far these decks are kind of rare on the ladder, but if they start to appear regularly consider putting Divine Spirit in your deck.

Zoo Discardlock (Non-quest variation) - Slightly Disfavored

Because of Soulfire, discardlocks can deal with your 4/8 and 4/5 easily and their main goal is to get early game damage instead of opening a portal in the late game, so you may run into some troubles with this deck. However, comebacks are really probable with your Auchenai and Circle combo

Mirror Matchup - Slightly Disfavored

Since you are NeverLucky and your opponent alway have Ancient Watcher on Turn Two and Humongous Razorleaf+ Silence on Turn Three Kappa

Memes aside, your opponent doesn't expect an aggro priest. That's the point of the deck.

All Murloc Decks (Quest Shaman / Paladin / Warlock)- Highly Disfavored

Well I guess this deck is not as cancer as pre-patch pirate warrior since it has a hard counter. The murlocs outnumber your silence effects and they can efficiently take down your silenced minions with the help of their instant murloc buffs. I didn't see too much of these decks from rank 20-10 so I guess it's good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why Not These Cards? Most other silence priests have it

Barnes: There are too much activators you can pull out that isn't worth silencing. For one, card spots are very limited in this deck, and also you'd much rather use the silence on enemy taunts or your own frozen crusher to finish the game.

Inner Fire + Divine Spirit combo: It is anti-intuitive to have buff and silence your own minion in the same deck isn't it. This deck lacks draw, and having cards that need to combo with other cards will very likely to make it become a dead draw. You generally don't want to Divine Spirit a non-silenced watcher / razorleaf and most of time inner fire will only give you 1 or 4 attack, since silence -> spirit -> inner fire will be extremely rare.

In short, playing this combo is high risk and low reward.

Power Word: Shield: The watchers and razorleafs are large on their own. With circle and your hero power the cycle card makes very little difference in terms of trading. Same applies to Kabal Talonpriest.

Mass Dispel: (sigh) I kept adding and removing this card from the deck but I ended up not including it anymore. The sole reason you want this card is when you are matched up with Quest Taunt Warrior, which is rising in popularity and they can destroy you if you don't play around Brawl. Other than that, it is ineffective against quest rogue and most other archetypes on the current ladder. That being said, if quest warrior and murloc shaman become more dominant, this card can be considered to be put into the deck.

Acolyte of Pain: I totally understand the frustration of the lack of draws in this deck, but this card generally becomes a one-for-one cycle at the end since you would also need an activator for this card, which the deck has none of. Power Word:Shield or Mass Dispel is inherently better than Acolyte if you really want more card draws. This card also competes with Razorleaf on turn 3 since you would like both of them played as soon as possible to get maximum value.

Faceless Manipulator: As a 5 drop, it competes with your Frozen Crusher and Hydra if you have it, and it would be terrible to dupe your pre-silenced minion. As such, it is neither an activator nor an immediate threat on the board. Faceless Shambler has taunt, and hence is much better choice than this card.
