EDIT: I have never played this deck. I was simply theorycrafting before the expansion came out. I agree it must be too slow, and it probably needs more card draw. If you think you can improve this deck and make it viable on the ladder, let me know!
This deck takes advantage of the synergy of beast druid with the Druid quest:
- A lot of the new beasts have 5 attack, which makes activating the quest easier.
- Mark of Y'Shaarj is a good tempo card as well as card draw, which is very important with Barnabus the Stomper.
- Menagerie Warden is truly the star of this deck:
- It has 5 attack, triggering the quest.
- It can copy Stranglethorn Tigeror another 5 attack beast, triggering the quest a second time.
- If it targets Charged Devilsaur, the 7/7 will have charge, but can attack face.
- It can copy Tyrantus, which will most likely end the game the following turn.
- The high cost minions won't be stuck in your hand because Barnabus the Stomper couldn't reduce its cost, thanks to Giant Anaconda. If you pull out a Charged Devilsaur, it will have charge and still able to attack face.
I've replaced Feral Rage with a couple of different early taunts, Tar Creeper has saved me from smorc hunter many times when they don't have Kill Command in hand.
I thought Stonehill Defender would be decent, as a flex pick. But it doesn't kill a lot of smalls that swing into it, and it turns out theres only, like, 3 taunts with 5+ attack
quite interesting approach ^^
I'm running a very similar version of this deck and having loads of success, but include Yogg-Saron for moments like this
ALWAYS HEX!!!
Might wanna add that you don't wanna play Giant Anaconda the same turn you complete your quest. If it pulls Barnabus...
Is it ever correct to mulligan away the quest?
The only time where it is correct is against a pirate warrior or a quest rogue. you need to get as much early game pressure on those decks as possible, and most of the time you will win without even completing the quest. I still haven't won against quest rogue this way, but in my opinion this is the best way to beat pirate warrior
What could i use to replace the 2x Charged Devilsaur
Ancient of War is good a card, and I remove one Giant Anaconda for Cenarius.
however if u play both Charged Devilsaur and Menagerie Warden on the same turn and copy the devilsaur, new created copy cant attack face
How would it ever be possible to play both of these cards on the same turn?
The deck is really fun to play!!! But, all the ridiculously OP rouges, kinda ruin it tbh...
Really fun tho! And actually wins most of the time, unless its rogue! lol
been trying out this quest, pretty fun to play against slower decks, such as the warrior quest or priest quest. but vs midrange hunter or pirate warrior, not so much.
I've made some much needed changes to the deck with good results vs some agro games:
add Earthen Scales x2. remove Feral Rage x2. . you get roughly same armor, buff a minion, and costs only 1 mana. way better to keep tempo.
add 1x Volcanosaur, I replaced 1x Charged Devilsaur. sometimes, you need another taunt minion at turn 5-7, good one to adapt to need.
add 1x Ancient of War (replace 1x Tyrantus). need the taunts
add 2x Tortollan Forager (replaces 2x Druid of the Claw). early game, sets up Elder Longneck for turn 3
add 1x Doomsayer and 1x Enchanted Raven. replace 2x Giant Anaconda. anaconda is way too slow.
Great deck indeed with these changes,i kept the Tyrantus regardless and it has helped me win multiple games. Currently 10-2, only lost to disco lock twice out of 4 times. With a bit of luck, this deck destroys aggro.
I put so much dust into making this deck and then when i played my Giant Anaconda I realized it was deathrattle and not battlecry. . . and thats when I realized quest druid is shit lul. rip like 3k dust :(
Lunar Visions instead of Nourish
I run a very similar list, decent results thus far. I put in two Dark Arakkoa's because they're fairly big taunts which trigger the quest also, they've been very helpful thus far.
I've been playing a version that uses Cenarius and a single Celestial Dreamer. The former works well to close out a game (+2/+2) and to stall when needed. The other is a strong follow-up to a T3 Longneck and counts for the quest (when triggered). I've also found that Earthen Scales is a huge card in this. 1-mana for a +1/+1 and (in this deck) 6+ armor is great.
Those seem like good changes. Aggro has been killer for me especially murlock shaman. I added in Tortollan Forager to help, but Celestial Dreamer may work better since it gets threats out earlier. I like your changes cause it really helps make longneck not a bad card. A +3 health or divine shield longneck then getting Scales could easily help keep board.
I've been liking the deck, but aggro has been rough. Haven't played too much zoo, and hunters have been stalling if I get protector out and use feral rage for armor. However the Anaconda is rough. I haven't crafted the devilsaur yet, and have been using mammoths instead, but the anaconda is clunky. Can't be played if it completes the quest, can't be played if you only have Menagerie or longneck, and is usually killed on opponent's turn so the devilsaur is less useful with it. Basically assuring it pulls a protector or mammoth is my only hope for it, which makes it a usually dead card.
