Explain why Bloodmage Thalnos is there instead of another, more relevant card draw minion?

You usally don' t have space in the hand to run another Acolyte. The other option would be novice engineer.Thalnos is just beter than novice enginner.

Novice Engineer might be a better option solely because of the battlecry vs deathrattle. I find sometimes I just need to draw that Frost Nova or 2nd Molten Reflection. If you're just digging, Novice Engineer is arguably better.

Damage to their face is negligible until the combo. The spell damage is less of the time relevant than a cheaper dig. But that's just my opinion. I've already made the switch and I'm loving it.

I tested novice and coldlights and they performed very well, especially the coldlight. Thanks for the advice with the deck :)

Why there is 2x Arcanologist ? Wouldn't it be better with one more Shimmering Tempest ?

Because Arcanologist is REALLLLY good in the early game, it's best to have 2 of them in the deck. Currently I am testing a lots of different versions, I'll adjust this deck in a week or so when i see wich works the best.

Arcanologist draws you a stall secret. Essentially draws you a necessary stalling card (Ice Block / Ice Barrier. Also develops your board. Shimmering Tempesttakes a turn to draw you a card and could be an irrelevant card.

I've had pretty good success starting out with this deck. 8-2 around rank 10 atm. I love mage and this is just a great combo piece. I've never felt like I didn't have enough draw to close out a game. 

Cool idea but not sure there is enough draw to finish the combo before dying.

For reference, current Freeze mage has 11 card draw (1 from a Thalnos, 2 from a pair of Novice Engineer, 2 from a pair of Loot Hoarder, at least 2 from a pair of Acolyte, 4 from a pair of Arcane Intellect) and its majority of loss still comes from not having enough time to assemble the combo. 

Now, this deck has card 9 draw (2 from a pair Arcanologist, 4 from a pair of Arcane Intellect, 2 from a pair of Loot Hoarder and at least 1 from a Acolyte) and that assuming you don't draw secret before you play Arcanologist. 

On top of that, because it need cards to generate spells not from deck, this has a considerably lower survival rate than Freeze Mage. 

Edit: Also, with this minion setup, you're almost never going to have board/pressue to gain a coin from Burgly Bully. Even after a Doomsayer turn, your opponent is just going to play a minion to kill it. Probably a good idea to replace it with some card draw. 

I had to cut some card draw to make space for the spell generating cards unfortunately, but this deck is still not short on card draw.This deck also has somewhat more and stronger minions than regular freeze , that you can use to trade(not by much tho)

I don't think this deck has a lower survival rate than regular freeze. You will very likely get useful spells from the random effects, since you're playing mage:

Frostbolt,Fireball,Flamestrike,Blizzard,Frost Nova,Forbidden Flame,Ice Block,Ice Barrier,Cone of Cold,Arcane Intellect,Firelands Portal,Polymorph,Cabalist's Tome,Meteor,Primordial Glyph are all good control or stall spells, you just don't see most of them in freeze mage because they just don't fit.

You can even make use of the secrets or Mirror Image/Arcane Missiles/Freezing Potion too. Even Shatter is not that bad in a deck with at lest 4 freeze effects.

You are right about Burgly Bully i think i should sub it for some card draw or some spell generator. 

For the combo you should use the Molten Reflection reflection on Sorcerer's Apprentice to trigger the Archmage Antonidas instead on the earlier turn so you don't need another card for the combo. 

also technically this is a six card combo because of the quest. 

I fixed the Molten Reflection section,thanks. The quest is always in your hand or equipped so i didn't count in,but yeah, technically 6, but you only have to draw 5.

With all these spells we *have* to cast to complete the quest might as well consider adding [Arcane Golem] (s) as a finisher too. They will most likely be a free 8/8, and the extra turn basically "gives them charge".

I would be very happy if I could fit double Arcane Giant and Alexstrasza for alternate win-condition, but I could only do that if i loose a lots of consistency(basically I could only cut card draw).
