Brief guide of how the combo works:
1.1. Complete the quest while setting your opponent to the lowest possible health.
1.2. I'm still not sure if fire fly is a must for completing the quest, testing is required. Other cards being considered:
Glacial Shard-> Pretty powerful aggro card IMO.
Worgen Infiltrator-> Same as glacial shard.
Leper Gnome->secured 2 damage.
Raptor Hatchling -> I have a dilema with this card. I like the stats and the beast synergy but dislike the fact that the deathrattle means less odds of drawing hemet.
2. Play Hemet. ONLY PLAY IT ONCE THE QUEST IS COMPLETED and you have Queen Carnassa in hand!!!!!!!
3. Since you can't play hemet + carnassa on the same turn you will pass and 100% draw rhino. Play the hunters quest reward card.
4. Damage output from clear board:
10 mana= 2(Rhino)+3x5(raptors)= 17 damage
If you have saved timber wolfs you can end up dealing more damage.
10 mana & 1 wolf= 3(Rhino)+4x4(raptors)+1(wolf)= 20 damage
10 mana & 2 wolfs= 4(Rhino)+5x3(raptors)+4(wolfs)= 23 damage
5. Have Fun!
*Disclaimer. The amount of taunts and the unknown meta that is yet to come probably will make this list not being good. Still the list shows this combo which imo is reeaaaally powerful. Obviously with this list if you Hemet is at the bottom of the deck... well you most likely will lose.
Since this deck is increasing in popularity something which I didn't expected, before commenting what other people already said please read this:
Most of the cards (that are no hemet, rhinos or 1-drops) can be changed and build a more aggro or control oriented deck.
As it is right now the deck is designed thinking about the combo aspect (for fun), card cycle to look for hemet. But sincerily I don't think this exact list will work. IMO a more aggro deck which pics it's curve at 3, with the exception of Rhino and Hemet, should be the way to go. This can result in not needing hemet to win by playing Carnassa on turn 5 for a huge! tempo gain (5 mana 8/8 guys), and actually with all the fuel that the raptors give, (in case you draw hemet later) having a dead card in hand should't be a big deal. But trust me if you happen to have hemet on 6 and your quest completed or nearly completed (with 2 1-drops in hand) play it. Tinkering the deck like that will give you so much burst and instant board control, go for the combo if you can!!!. Think of the combo as it was Finja, If you have a decent deck maybe you win with out it, but if you get it and play it on turn 5 you know you will probably win that game because you snowball from there.
On the other hand, if the meta ends up being taunt heavy you can actually play a more control oriented build with 1-drops obviously but with removal such as Hunter's Mark, Kill Command or the new spell which all happen to cost 3 or less, perfect!
Once you have played Hemet you don't have to kill the opponent in 1 turn, remember that you get 15 raptors and the opponent will have to clear them turn after turn, maybe you draw both Rhinos and you can do 1 turn of clearing your enemy taunts and in the next turn put or your burst, it's up to the player.
I'm not playing hunter at the moment I'm missing marsh of queen so feedback should be appreciated. Just comment what card/s you substituted and why.
If you want to try a really hard to play but strong budget deck check this out:
Really fun deck when it works, which isn't very often unfortunately.
I changed this deck quite a bit to increase the beast synergy and to add more 1-drops/cards that produce 1-drops to meet The Marsh Queen quest sooner with more reliability. This deck has 14 1-drops and 15 beasts with the ability to produce up to 10 additional playable 1-drops and 7 additional beasts (excluding Carnassa's Brood). This is not a ladder climbing deck by any means, but it is fun to play! It does pretty well in casual, so I play it in casual mode when I have win/hunter quests. It's one of my favorite decks!
I experimented with adding Prince Keleseth, but the deck suffered from the loss of Crackling Razormaw, Dinomancy, and Scavenging Hyena so I removed it. This is the final deck list:
quite interesting approach ^^
Is this deck good for ladder?
I've played this deck a few and i've had problems 'cause of the opponents meta are too aggro/fast to complete the quest, have Hemet, Jungle Hunter on hand with Queen Carnassa and the Tundra Rhino(s), and win while you're trading big fat minions and AOE.
So I've made some changes:
-1Fiery Bat, -1 Tracking, -2 Alleycat,, -2 Animal Companion
+2 Glacial Shard, +2 Worgen Infiltrator,, +2 Mistress of Mixtures
Maybe I'm gonna add Explosive Trap
great idea ^
no point of alley cat here. doesnt trigger quest twice
does hounds trigger quest twice?
early board control
any suggestions with what could I replace Patches the Pirate?
probably just not good and not refined at all but i don't want to craft queen carnassa when it's not even good without hemet imo.
general mulligan look for hemet and draw. Against edwin as of this list the best answer is getting poisonous from crackling razormaw. Against taunt warrior Scavenging Hyena does her job, other than that maybe combo it's needed and you might have to do a few full board of 1 mana raptors to bait brawl and making the opponent not able to play huge taunts. There should be better cards to play other than Stampede but you can sub it for Timber Wolf if you prefer the fun aspect of the game.
hard to face pirate warrior T.T
any solution to the problem when I don't have hemetin hand, should I continue with queen or wait for him?
it depends man if you already have a strong board it can seal the deal and if you are getting killed really fast can make you win the board control game but not consistently.
This is the only deck I have tried so far (I don't want to spend dust until the meta calms down) and I LOVE IT.
We all hated poor Hemet, Jungle Hunter, but he is REALLY important for the Hunter Quest. Playing the combo is equal to win, when without him raptors can be killed easily before attacking and also is possible to draw a fucking bat on 10th turn. I can't imagine a Hunter Quest deck without him right now.
I only changed one thing: Timber Wolf. I don't really like that card (low life, need to be played with beasts when the deck is full of 1 drops that aren't beasts...). I changed by Glacial Shard. This card is great because can save your ass, counts for the quest and is still usefull in late game. And as quests are played in the first turn seems improbable that will be played with low value (freezing the hero in first turn for example).
One more thing: I have HUMILIATED quest rogue that people seems to fear so much with this deck. Like 6-1. LONG LIFE TO HEMET.
thanks man it's great to hear that it works as intended!! :)
same dude. except i kill rogues before they control board. Anyone who has a lot of AOE or taunts i lose if i dont damage their face before than.
So as it turns out, this is pretty inconsistent. Maybe some refinement will help?
If you're tired of playing then you can end the game quickly with fatigue damage!
Patches have been useful in my games but I dont think it's a must. Put in stonetusk if you want to directly replace him. Also, if you don't have patches, even though the corsairs are good against pirate warriors, you can replace them with houndmaster which the deck at this state doesn't have room for. Houndmaster is almost a must for all hunter decks from what i hear. Feel free to let me know if hounmaster worked out for you or you wish you had more 1 drops instead.
