Step 1 : The Marsh Queen
Step 2 : Starving Buzzard
Step 3 : ???
Stat 4 : Profit!
The goal is to harass and to kill later on with Timber Wolf / Tundra Rhino / Carnassa's Brood, thanks to the draw given by Starving Buzzard with the low-cost Beasts. Other options are a huge Scavenging Hyena and the value given by Stampede.
A 10-mana combo can be : Tundra Rhino, one/two Timber Wolf, three/four Carnassa's Brood, for a total of 20 / 23 damages ! It can go higher with Raptor Patriarch and Crackling Razormaw.
There are 10 of these low-cost Beasts : Alleycat, Fiery Bat, Jeweled Macaw, Timber Wolf, Raptor Hatchling, Raptor Patriarch and Carnassa's Brood... In addition to these, the Fire Fly is here because it counts as two 1-mana cost minions thanks to its Battlecry. They can all be drawn by the Tol'vir Warden. making The Marsh Queen completion much more reliable.
This deck is Beast-based so Crackling Razormaw is very interesting and versatile. There is 71% of either getting Shrouding Mist, Liquid Membrane or Crackling Shield on a Starving Buzzard (even a Tundra Rhino) making it likely to survive until the next turn and thus allowing crazy plays. Moreover, there is 83% of getting Living Spores, Poison Spit, Volcanic Might or Flaming Claws on a low-mana minion to put pressure early on by up-trading. Furthermore, a sneaky lethal could also happen if Lightning Speed was given to the Queen Carnassa or a huge Scavenging Hyena ! Anyway, Rocky Carapace is a solid buff to keep the board pressure and Massive is useful against aggressive decks. Adapt is a really cool mechanic that is definitely viable.
3-mana drops are important because two 1-mana minions should be played on Turn 2 and the tempo is needed. Rat Pack and Animal Companion are solid beast drops that easily take the board, great on the curve with Houndmaster (especially against agressive decks). The former also is excellent with the Cult Master or even the Starving Buzzard thereafter.
Drawing cards is necessary since the hand is quickly empty with all the 1-mana minions needed to complete The Marsh Queen. That's why in addition to the Starving Buzzard, a Cult Master is in this deck. It can't allow sick combos with Carnassa's Brood without the Tundra Rhino but it does make use of the low-cost minions to achieve the quest faster, granting stability to the deck.
In addition, Stampede can quickly refill the hand and make a lot of value with these low-cost beasts, the Jeweled Macaw has a nice synergy with it giving a lot of options in mid/late game. This card is faster than a Starving Buzzard which can help in some match-ups.
Hunter's Mark is a tool thats can come in handy to answer to a huge minion or even a taunt. This deck has the tokens to make use of it.
Alternative : the Hungry Crab is an option since it's a 1-mana cost Beast if the Murloc Shaman exists in the future metagame, probably instead of Raptor Hatchling which isn't that significant. Also Ironbeak Owl can be better than Hunter's Mark depending of the metagame.
Needs a few adjustments. Kill Command is a must so that is start...
How can this deck possibly beat Quest rogue or Taunt warrio i main hunter and have tried every build under thr sun. Need some advice.
Actually, i got good results againt taunt warrior with elemental shaman. Each card from mid to late have a solid value, requiring hard removals or gg. Quest rogue is weak againt fast aggros... before finishing the quest, all minions are stupid, and have few removals.
I played a variation of this when Ungoro came out. QUest hunter beats quest rogue because it's faster. I no longer play it because it's not very good against much else.
You are supposed to play this as a more Midrange-ish deck as well. Not just go full on quest and hope you will finish it in time. Even if you did have alot of one drops and finish it you would run out of steam very fast vs control decks.
This will definitively turn out to be on the stronger side of Hunter decks. Reason is - it has a more Midrange theme. The pure Quest Hunter like Trump's deck if faced against any type of control deck , it just loses way too fast. I love it.
I can't wait to try it, I'm EU sadly xD
Well, just got my butt reamed by taunt war. Not sure what happened. Ran out of cards at end. Got the quest completed just no cards. Am I supposed to hold on till late game or?
Just made a few test runs, and I love this deck!
First of all, I love dinosaurs, I always liked the beast archetype AND Hunter has always been my favorite class.
Anyway, it's not an OP deck by any means, but it's still fun and good enough.
Did you succeed to do the combo ?
Sadly no, but I used a different combo with 2 previously set Hyenas, Rat pack AND the queen raptors.
EDIT: And thundra Rhino, of course
Like a lot of these decks, it's not optimized and doesn't have a cohesive plan.
Not enough one drops and then the mid game is bizarre and weak with no spells or weapons.
Not enough one drop ? They are enough : https://hearthvis.com/?page_id=89
The midgame is weak ? No cohesive plan ? Did you even read ?
Like a lot of these comments, it makes no sense.
It's pretty bad. And not well thought out. I can list off 10 reasons why:
1. Raptor Hatchling is a trap card that bloats the deck with 1 mana 4/3s.
2. Starving Buzzard is worthless once you have the Raptors.
3. Rat Pack has no synergy and is too slow, relies too heavily on Houndmaster (which is only 1 copy)
4. No weapons/spells if it's a midgame list. This deck is only ever good when you're ahead never when behind.
5. 1 Cult Master and that's your draw? What sort of draw are you talking about? It has practically none.
6. The Marsh Queen doesn't win you the game. You'll still have a deck that's primarily garbage ones and average mid game minions.
7. Like most of these theorycrafts it only imagines the best case scenarios. What if you have no board?
8. Stampede with what cards? Raptor chains are extremely unlikely when your deck isn't thinned.
9. 14 one drops for a 7 drop quest. That's less than 50% chance to be done by turn 6.
10. Where's your reach? This deck needs a closer. And it just has absolutely none.
2. Starving Buzzard and Carnassa's Brood is what allow you to build a solid OTK
3. Houndmaster and Cult Master but mainly here for the curve. Or maybe you know a better Turn 3 ?
4. Guess Hunter can only run 29 T1s then according to you.
6/10. Guess you just didn't understand this deck or the quest.
And that's because of that last point I'll stop here, I lost too much time already.
I've got a much better deck done. Don't worry ;)
The better turn 3 is Coldlight Oracle. And Hemet Jungle Hunter is the way this deck has a proper win condition. Buzzard and Brood is so stupid. You do know that after you play Brood you'll still have more than half your deck that ISN'T raptors. Then what's your turn 8? Buzzard > Raptor > Dead card?
K
Ever think of taking out the wolves for kill commands, having a hard time fitting them in here. I want to say Dinomancy but i think the meta would be too fast for it to be worth it and the 2 damage a turn would be better to help rush them down.
Depends if the metagame is agressive or slower, then
What do you think about Dinomancy? You could switch out one Rhino and save the other for a starving buzzard/rhino combo with one drops, but I think Dinomancy would really fit well into the beast meta. Yeah, it is slow, but it is ultimately better than your starting hero power.
