Mulligan Guide: Chromaggus is easily the most difficult encounter in Blackrock Mountain. If you win the first time just thank your lucky stars, don't ask questions, and move on with your life. Unfortunately, odds are that it's going to take you at least a couple of tries until you can beat him. Your starting hand will have a huge impact on your survival. You want to hard mulligan for either Doomsayer, Boneguard Lieutenant, or Shadow Word: Pain. He will often coin out a Chromatic Dragonkin or a Faerie Dragon and you really need something to handle them right away.
The biggest challenge of this encounter is dealing with the different Brood Afflictions. His order goes GREEN > RED > BLUE > BRONZE > BLACK > RANDOM. Don't worry about the Green one until you are ready to actually start damaging him. I like to get rid of the Red one, if possible, because otherwise you will end up taking at least 9 damage from it before you can even consider getting rid of it again. It's a toss up with the Blue Affliction, because it really depends on the board state and what's in your hand. If you keep Blue he will nearly always Flamestrike your board or cast all of his Flameheart cards for free. Do not keep Bronze unless you have a way to immediately clear the board, like Doomsayer or Lightbomb because he will drop everything. I often try to use this to my advantage and blow up his entire side of the board. Black is terrible to keep because if he uses Flameheart he will get 4 cards (2 copies of each) and I've seen him get multiple Ysera or Alexstrasza like this.
You will learn to HATE the Chromatic Dragonkin because they will often times prevent you from getting rid of any of the Afflictions unless you just want to make them huge. Ultimately you would like to get a minion buffed up to a large amount, ideally Deathlord, and start killing Chromaggus or at least hold the line against his minions.
One of my favorite minions in this deck is the Priest of the Feast because you can easily get back to full Health with just one of them on the board. As long as you play smart and get rid of the Afflictions at the appropriate time, then you will be able to defeat this difficult boss.
I normally try to keep my decks as cheap as possible, but I just had to throw in several Epic cards for this tough fight. I playtested for weeks to try and find the right balance with this deck and I think this is the most consistent build I came up with. However, if you must substitute anything you may want to try Burly Rockjaw Trogg and Holy Champion. I had a lot of luck with both of those. You could also try adding Light of the Naaru or Power Word: Glory for additional healing. If you'd like to see other approaches to this boss, please check the links below.

Neonangel's guides have been AMAZING!!! Can't thank you enough sir! That said, this deck in particular was a real big struggle for me here in 2020. I think the AI has improved a lot since your video, I tried for DAYS with this deck and others like it. I just wanted to share with others what worked for me in 2020, the Warlock deck below.

Once again Neonangel, thank you SO much for all your hard work and great guides, I've used many of them and they are all wonderful.
1st time! thank you
Wow. I couldn't believe my luck. After reading your guide and watching your YouTube video, I was terrified of this guy, haha. Somehow through the luck of the RNG gods I managed to beat him on the first try. Alexstrasza healed me, also! I got down to one health at one point! Plus he milled me and I lost one of my Priest of the Feast so I was not feeling confident.
All I can say is, thank you, thank you. You worked hard on this deck and made it consistent enough that I managed to win with it. I saw you lost to him a couple of times in your "play to win five" video and I was sure I was going down that path especially when I got to one health. Then I started buffing things when I still had a Doomsayer and a Lightbomb in my hand and thought, "I'm doing it wrong." But it still worked out somehow.
I only had one Boneguard Lieutenant so I substituted an Acidic Swamp Ooze, mostly because in your matches I watched on YouTube he seemed to mostly get killed right away anyway. I planned on crafting him later if I needed him. Acidic Swamp Ooze had the same three attack so could at least kill an unbuffed Chromatic Dragonkin in a pinch.
Hozen Healer was an MVP for sure!
