Decided to try Hunter on my f2p id and I've used this deck to make a strong and fast climb to rank 11 over several games with a decent win rate. It's basically a normal mid range hunter which uses azure drakes to tie the deck together.
You basically need to play on curve and dominate from the mid game on with draws from azure drakes and gaining board control.
This deck suffers a lot against Pirate warrior and aggro shaman, both of which are unfortunately the most prevalent decks on ladder. But maybe after the upcoming nerfs, we see a decline in pirates?
Apart from these you have the potential to beat every other deck, especially the Reno ones, with enough firepower to kill them two times over with a lot of burst.
Against mid jade shaman, the easiest route to victory is to time your Timber Wolf + Unleash the Hounds combo to finish for a lot of burst as they can't help but create huge boards with totems and golems.
Against miracle rogue it's simply a matter of who snowballs faster as rogue usually has a disadvantage with being able to clear with hero power.
Against jade druid, unless the druid draws perfectly, you should win most of the time.
Replacements:
Ragnaros the Firelord - yes, it can be replaced with another Call of the Wild or Sylvanas Windrunner or anything else that helps you finish really.
Snake Trap - You can replace it with Freezing/Explosive/Bear, but the tokens kinda help with Hunter's Mark / Timber Wolf / Leokk
Cat Trick - Can again be replaced with another trap/Eaglehorn Bow, but it's a really powerful card under the right circumstances
The Curator - Honestly, really hard to replace because it draws you another Azure drake + beast in the late game and provides a decent taunt. But if you have to replace it, then you could potentially fit in a tracking, but your win rate will plummet.
Flare- Normally used to ruin a mage's day or make rogues go wtf or as a cycle card in the late game (you really don't want this in your hand in the first several turns). Again, potentially replaced with Tracking
If you don't have Quick Shot or Kindly Grandmother, idk how to replace them.
Give it a try if you have the cards or can replace them, but honestly you're better off spending dust on another class in a meta dominated by aggro on ladder.
Not sure why you're playing king elekk with barnes ;3 Seems like it would be bad 1/10th of the time and probably would lose you game if you ever got it.
Yeah you can try King Krush because no-one will expect it
^Hey there.
Playing this deck since yesterday.
from rank 19 to 12 now no loss :D
havent played vs pirate or jade shaman, but against a few Dragon Priests, Reno Priests, Jade Druids (3 i think) and yes, won everything.
My "best" advice for this deck is, you may need to combo Unleash the Hounds with Timberwolf after your Snaketrap has been activated.
be prepared to think about that for some seconds, if you need to clear the board, dont kill them with your Snakes, finish them after you have maximized your own board.
for exampe the enemy has 4 minions, you have one and snaketrap has been activated.
since you have 4 on board your Unleash would only summon 3 instead of 4.
kill one of your snakes and unleash after that, so no dmg is going to be missed.
alot of my games ended by turn 9-10 in total, without even playing the "big stuff".
try to use hero power as much as possible and "save" your cards in hand to combo them. (you also have not the best carddraw, except azure and Curator (and a lil bit luck with Elekk...)
nice deck, works very good so far.
Glad to hear that ! Rank 10 onwards you run into an endless flurry of warriors and aggro shamans which are unfavorable matchups. Also you can try swapping flare out for deadly shot as it's more useful in games that aren't against mage . The timber wolf unless combo works best against jade shamans.
thats how things work. people play the decks they can use without too much brain and win.
just as you said i lost one against aggro shaman. he topdecked lightningstorm and hex and i was wasted
Having a ton of fun with this deck, and it's doing reasonably well on ladder in the teens. Only change i made was -Snake Trap +Explosive Trap to help against Pirates.
Glad to hear that!
