This deck was featured in TotalBiscuits "Lord of the Gimmicks" series.
The idea behind this deck is to take the old spellpower rogue to it's natural and extreme conclusion, by including all spellpower minions in the game alongside some of the cheapest spells (which are found in the rogue deck), allowing for these spells to scale far beyond their usual effectiveness. The ideal situation is to establish a few spellpower creatures on the board while using early removal like backstab and shiv to maintain controls and then kill the opponent with very strong headcracks, eviscerates and sinister strikes.
If you want to meddle with the deck, the only cards outside of the gimmick theme are the two Mogu'shan Wardens, which I elected to put in there to allow my weaker spellpower minions to stay on the board longer than they otherwise would, as well as protect my face from aggro decks. They could be replaced by things like Faceless Manipulator if you wanted to clone Malygos or Ancient Maged minions, or Preparation for those looking for a big one-turn Malygos play. Sen'jin maybe more effective since it trades better, though it has less health. That slot really is open for experimentation.
As with all gimmick decks, do not expect effectiveness, though I was able to take this deck to Rank 12 with a solid win ratio.
This deck is stupid fun to play, absolutely love it. Only thing I replaced was swapping out the two Wardens for two Faceless Manipulators. Can be a great way to boost your own spell power if you want to clone your own cards or can be a good way of removing enemy cards, especially things like giants or those 8/8's druids love so much.
"not a very well optimized deck."
Welcome to Lord of the Gimmicks. Commit fully or go home.
yeah? then it's gimmick-themed. done.
It's fun when it works. It's not something I play when i'm looking for HardCore Laddering, of course, but it's fun.
I think with some slight modifications it may be somewhat competitive for the right player. That's not me, of course. ;)
My variant (because I don't have a handful of the cards in the deck - Maly, Thalnos, surprizingly the headcracks, or the ancient mages), I fit in two gadgetzan auctioneers, two conceals, two preparations. It makes people think it's a leeroy/miracle deck, but I've concealed two geomancers, a dalaran mage, and an ogre magi and unleashed Hell the next turn. :)
I'm not entirely certain I want to put the dust for headcracks since my other more serious decks could use tweaks still.
This deck was actually a competitive deck back in closed beta.
I've been playing modified version of this deck lately. I must say that it is very fun. I got a few modifications like swapping out 1 ogre magi and 1 kobold for 2 sunfury. 2 dalarans are out for 2 harvest golems. I'm tempting to swap out Mogushan for Senji. What do you guys think ?
I think you're taking away the "Gimmick" aspect and making it more into a boring consistent deck.
you're loosing the concept
Absolutely brutal with the right combos in hand
Scary.
