Strategy
- You want to maintain board control as much as possible and direct all excess damage to the face. Similar to what a zoolock would do, but more late-game and with spells.
- You will always want to have at least one Small-Time Buccaneer early-game if possible. It's a very strong card in rogue decks.
- Try to save spells for when you have spell damage on the board. If you have to use one for that extra 1-2 damage that is fine, but try to make that your last option. It can sometimes be a good idea to cycle Fan of Knives if you suspect that your opponent is not the sort to play many minions.
- Try to play as many of your deathrattles as you can to set up for a N'Zoth, the Corruptor as your late-game win condition. Always try to combo Unearthed Raptor with your deathrattles as well, unless you just really n eed a good body on the board. Not to difficult at all with Jade Swarmer. Remember raptors are not summoned by N'zoth.
- You may often win games with very little health playing this deck. Usually i get the ball rolling with my threatening cards and deathrattles and let the opponent burn through most of their removal while clearing their minions. Then they will have little left to answer your n'zoth they will also result in dome big golems.
- Always use journey below to try and find a card that will give you more golems, but there may be a better choice sometimes if you just need something on curve.
- Remember that you need to have a weapon for Small-Time Buccaneer to have +2 attack, so be aware of your sequencing. It is quite important in this deck.
This should cover a lot of how to play this deck, but I probably will think of a couple things to add later. Check out the card breakdown for more info about individual cards.
Card Breakdown
Card | Words |
Journey Below | Use these to find some strong deathrattle minions and also to activate your combo effects. |
Backstab | With all the aggressive decks running around it is very convenient to have one of these in your mulligan. |
Betrayal | Rogue lacks some good aoe damage. Fan of knives is great, but i wanted to employ one of these as well because it can be very valuable and it is also completely unexpected by many people, so they don't play around it. |
Eviscerate | Raw and reliable damage. Try to take advantage of the combo always. |
Jade Shuriken | This spell is fantastic and will summon you a minion as well. You MUST activate the combo for these! Spell damage makes it even better. |
Jade Swarmer | This cards is great. It's affordable, and the stealth gives you a chance to combo this with a raptor or otherwise. Then n'zoth can bring them back at the end of the game. |
Shiv | Primarily for card draw, but you can do some work with added spell damage. |
Fan of Knives | This will be both a great aoe and cycle card. Spell damage! |
Unearthed Raptor | It would be silly not to play this card. Remember n'zoth does not summon this back, and it can combo with brann! |
Defender of Argus | There's lots of potential for jade golems here, so this is a nice card to compliment them and strengthen your board. Later on it is nice to combo with Jade Spirit |
A very nice 1 drop that gives us an extra card. Also great for a combo activator. | |
Bloodmage Thalnos | Spell damage? Check. Card draw? Check. Deathrattle? Check. |
Xaril, Poisoned Mind | This is a great deathrattle card to compliment combos, and the toxins can be quite useful. |
Tomb Pillager | A very strong deathrattle minion for rogue, and it even gives you 1 free mana when it dies. If you invest your coin into this on turn 3 you will have it back later on! |
SI:7 Agent | This has always been a very valuable class card and the damage is very much needed to control the board. |
Beneath the Grounds | It's worth it to play a copy of this in my opinion with all the Kabal decks out there. It is more viable now than ever. Not only to you prevent their valuable battlecries from activating, but you really fuck with priests because of the 4/4 minions. |
Aya Blackpaw | Also an auto-include in jade decks. We can combo the battlecry and deathrattle in a few ways. |
N'Zoth, the Corruptor | This is your late-game in one card. Your opponent had better have a very good answer. |
Azure Drake | Needed card draw and spell power; This is just the card for that. |

- Bloodmage Thalnos + Kobold Geomancer and it works a treat
Good deck, thanks!
Good shout, will update my deck with that change :)
Saw this deck yesterday on this site and noticed it had betrayal in it.
Today I faced a Jade Rogue in-game and thought: "Well, assuming this is another one of those people who is unable to make their own decks, even if it's the simplest concept (jade decks are pretty straightforward imo), I should play around Betrayal.
And well, that won me the game because surprise surprise; for the first time in I-don't-know-how-long I saw someone use betrayal outside of Arena. Oh Hearthpwn... Oh Hearthpwn...
seems like a fun deck to play
-1 [card] Beneath the Grounds[/card],-1 [card]Xaril, Poisoned Mind[/card] +2 Jade Spirit because i'm poor
Sounds good! Perhaps a backstab may be good as well for on of the spirits. GLHF!
-1 Tomb Pilager + 1 Sludge Belcher makes life so much easier. Also N'zoth with all the deathrattle revive.
Yeah i would probably use two of those....if i was playing Wild...lol
Thank you kindly for going the extra mile to make a well written guide for your deck.
I wish everybody did the same.
I tried out this deck for a few games today. I really think some Preparation and Sap are needed, and it feels weird not having Edwin. It's hard to manage early board with 1 Backstab and zero Preperations.
If your opponent is a Rogue and plays an early Edwin and you have no Sap, the game is basically over.
I mean, that is one individual situation. It just sounds like you want to play miracle rogue =P
I have but want to play N'Zoth. Maybe I'll try your version with Sap instead of Shiv.
Not saying you shouldn't try this deck, just my notes from testing that is all.
Np i understand, just being a goof =P I was using 1 copy of Sap in it previously and it is definitely a good and useful card, i just wanted to capitalize on the cycle and spell damage i suppose. I think that is a good choice to replace though, however you may want to remove Beneath the Grounds before a Shiv if you happen to see less of Reno Jackson :)
jade spirits? x)
- 1 xaril, + 1 jade spirit. 2 jade spirits might be a bit much tech in, because you have to remove some important cards. but xaril i believe is a pretty weak card and he is only good if you have board control. other than that he is weak in stats and gives you potions (that i argue should be worth 0 mana in order to be good?) basically its like playing a 6 mana 3/2, play 2 random potions which sucks. one jade spirit is needed in the deck especially if you want dem golems. ill try it out and get back to you
ONE LAST EDIT: -1 shiv + 1 backstab. there are 2 si 7 agents, 3 spell damage minions, and i dont think 1 backstab is enough. backstab is nearly an autoinclude in any rogue deck. a deck with 2 si 7 agents ESPECIALLY needs 2 backstabs :)
thanks for opening my eyes somewhat as well. i understand more now why you dont include jade golems, but they can also be a handy save if you have ramped your golems, so it goes both ways. xaril i believe still isnt a great card so maybe instead of jade golem, ill try something moreover like another strong 4 drop, pillager maybe, in the deck. thanks for the reply
This deck gets wrecked by aggro decks like pirate warrior and aggro shaman if you don't have the perfect mulligan.
Thanks for sharing the deck and the guide, it's really fun to play :)
