Freeze Mage is a combo-control deck that revolves around drawing through your deck in order to play Alexstrasza and finish off the opponent using a combination of spells. To help achieve this goal, Freeze Mage uses its namesake board freezes like Blizzard and Frost Nova to prevent the opponent from attacking. Ice Block allows the Freeze Mage one turn to play Alexstrasza safely and then deal lethal damage with burns spells like Fireball, Frostbolt, and Ice Lance.

Although Freeze mage fell out of favor at the start of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, it has made a strong return lately with the meta slowing down, and many decks no longer running secret hate like Eater of Secrets or Kezan Mystic.

While Freeze mage only gains one card in Wild compared to Standard, Mad Scientist alone brings the deck up significantly. Mad Scientist acts as a tutor for our secrets, plays them for free, and adds early board interaction to the deck.
