I always loved beast druid and saw potential it, it was an okay deck. But some of the new cards helped it improve a bit and for me right now its working so fine in the ladder with around 75% win rate.
I'll post more info and guides if there are enough people interested.
It seems like people showed enough interest for me to post the Mulligan.
I hope this does help you, it's my first guide so excuse my lack of experience on posting the info =)
If more people are interested i can post a full detailed guide. Enjoy!
Mulligans:
VS Midrange/Reno decks:
Without Coin: You wanna go for the Enchanted Raven, Innervate and Druid of the Flame. These are the cards that you mostly want to mulligan for but different card could mean different mulligan. For example if you were facing a priest and you had Enchanted Raven in hand already you wanna mulligan for Mark of Y'Shaarj for having that sweet 4/4 minion on turn 2 which priest have problem dealing with the 4 attacks minions.
With Coin: Same as without a coin but adding Druid of the Saber if you didn't get Enchanted Raven. In case you didn't get a good hand you can coin out the Druid of the Saber so you don't fall far off.
VS Aggro Decks:
Without a Coin: You wanna go for the Enchanted Raven, Innervate , Druid of the Saber and Living Roots. You can also keep Swipe if you have Innervate in hand, its an option.
With a Coin: Enchanted Raven, Innervate , Druid of the Flame and Living Roots. Having the coin helps you get Druid of the Flame earlier for efficient trades. And Swipe here is a better option for having a guaranteed The Coin.
Replacements:
Seeing a lot of people are asking for replacements, so here are my suggestions:
-1 Virmen Sensei +1 Mounted Raptor
The reason why i picked Mounted Raptor is because it fits the curve perfectly. People are asking if they can fit Jungle Panther, i personally think the Mounted Raptor is way better for being a more sticky target on board, also having any 1 mana minion could easily help with the burst ( Savage Roar or any other minions buff)
-1 Virmen Sensei +1 Azure Drake
Some people are having trouble with the card draw, and some like to have some spell damage boost. Azure Drake fits nicely, its an option.
To make it more simple, if you're looking for a replacement you're most likely going to find yourself removing 1 Virmen Sensei
Big thanks to the awesome people making deck reviews, here's one of them:
Yep love this deck, but I changed two cards to address the card draw issues...and to help with aggro on the ladder.
- Mark of the Lotus - Raven Idol, + Azure Drake + The Curator
The Curator is awesome against aggro, and most times he will draw you two cards when you play it. Also, the Azure Drake is very helpful as well.
I have a very good win rate right now, and I think this deck is a lot of fun :)
these are good substitutes, but i'd recommend u keep the Raven Idol and remove 1 Virmen Sensei. Because you'll have a lot of 5 drops with theAzure Drake + the Idol is sweet when stuck in difficult situations it saved me a lot =)
That's a good idea as well! I will test it out, and see how it goes :)
I only have one Virmen Sensei, replaced it with Wrath. Feels more reliable early game to me (either removal or a card cycle).
Hi man THANK YOU FOR THE Briliant DECK !!! I have done this change + 1ozze -1sensei do you think this is ok? i have a bit of problems vs shaman and pirate worrier can you please tell me how to win in this mach up thanks m8!!!
This deck has a blessing from a paladin, a touch of holiness from a priest, ruthless power from a warrior, sneakiness from a rogue, BMerness from a hunter, dark side from a warlock, intellectualism from a mage and finally, SAVAGENESS from a druid.
So basically, this deck is a gift from god to hearthstone players.
Just went 5-0 in casual against 2 Aggro & 3 Reno decks.
This deck seems pretty good, and is a refreshing change in our current meta.
If you like Midrange and something different I would recommend this deck.
This deck was basically made last season and to deal with the later game low card issue, people would put in a Deathwing, for a finisher. I do like the new expansion cards added though. Good job.
I'd suggest Deathwing for card draw issues
Hey man do you think teching in a defender of argus or two would help with the aggro matchup?
Maybe 1 Defender of Argus if you want, could work with 2/5 Druid of the Flame or the non-beast minions. you can go -1 Virmen Sensei +1 Defender of Argus. As for me i think having 2 Druid of the Claw with possible buffing is enough =)
Why is Raven Idol in this deck? As this deck seems suited for more aggressive play, why not just include another strong beast?
There are enough beasts and minions in the deck where as you have little choices to do with the spells. Raven Idol is flexible, it could work in most situations and might get you the spells you need to land a lethal, it worked for me very well.
In the 12 or so games I've played with the deck, I found Raven Idol to be too inconsistent. The options available often didn't fit my situation and it felt like a dead draw. I also found myself sometimes drawing all the 5/6 cost cards after the mulligan which is an instant loss versus the prominent aggro decks.
What I decided to do, based on how much trouble I'd seen opponents having with stealth minions, was to cut it in favor of 1 Jungle Panther. This has allowed me to have another difficult to remove target for all the buff cards in this deck and to has helped clear out some pesky taunts.
The other change I made was to add Leeroy Jenkins since I haven't crafted Fandral Staghelm. Against the Reno decks, Priest and Warlock at least, I found having an extra charge minion beneficial thus far. Overall I've done well with it around R7 so far, but Pirate Warrior has been a bad match-up so far.
try having Mounted Raptor instead of Jungle Panther, Deathrattles are more annoying to deal with, plus you get a free minion when it's dealt with. Leeroy Jenkins is a nice touch, i haven't tried that yet i might check it out =)
wasn't build to buff the spells since u only have Living Roots and Swipe as damaging spells, but if you really want a spell damage i'd go for +1 Azure Drake -1 Virmen Sensei.
From my experience this deck doesn't deal with aggro. In turn 2, trading your small minions to aggro minions doesn't pay off because aggro decks have patches and weapons in their hand. They always have something left after the trade. And even if you can innervate your Druid of the Claw at turn 3, current aggro decks can still tear it down if they have a 3 damage weapon, which is very likely to happen. And then you basically have nothing to stop them from hitting your face.
If you can keep your minions alive while killing their minions (with buffs for example), they will end up hitting your minions with their weapons instead of your face.
This works well against warriors, not so much against shamans because they have strong minions as well. The overpoweredness of the shaman minions is still a problem that blizzard should fix.
Hey, I am having a bit of trouble piloting this deck. Not sure if I am being too aggressive in my opening, but I seen to be running low on cards early on and resorting to topdecking answer. Should I play this slower and hold cards in certain matchups? Thanks.
The deck has high quality minions, which you can buff and copy a lot . So you have to be careful not to put all your eggs in one basket, For example, to buff a minion twice and then have it killed by Shadow Word: Death or something. Spread the risk a little bit.
Against an aggresive deck, play everything you have. They often can only remove things with their face/weapon. Against a Reno/control deck, just pressure them, but always hold back with your cards.
Against some deck types u have to go all out and run low on cards, but mostly you shouldnt run low on cards fast, maybe in turn 6 or 7. Every beast that dies counts so try to keep them alive since Mark of Y'Shaarj dwells with beasts and good for draws. if you have more questions or need help just hit me up =)
