This deck is not mine, I'm just reporting the deck Kolento used to reach rank 1 Legend, all credits go to him!
Enjoy!
User giveahoot18 is reporting a recent change to this deck, -1 Defender of Argus +1 The Black Knight
Reality is, he played almost nothing but miracle rogues. Against druid and shaman, he didn't fair so well.
I know Kolento is a great player, but giving him all this recognition for him reaching Legend rank 1 with control is a little overboard. Guys like Zilea, ErA, etc grinded from 25 to legend just playing Control Paladin, but nonetheless props to Kolento showing control paladin some love.
While it's true Kolento faced the same miracle rogue 5x in a row (whom also had really bad luck on draws) to get Rank 1, this deck plays consistently; however, it is rather tenuous ranks 5-3/2. While you have answers to many decks and you can play a consistent mid-range game, it is difficult to garner enough damage for a win condition and as soon as you lose board control, it is difficult to come back if you don't have your clears (and while this is true for many mid, control Paladin decks, you have a lot more answers in the form of say humility and heals; disregarding the fact that a conservative play style maximizes you efficiency for clearing anyways).
To supplement this, to play this deck well, you need to be like some auger like Kolento who knows and can predict just about everything about the opponent's deck and playstyle. Additionally, most of the time you need to be overly liberal with your minions (even pyro and knife at times) and painstakingly hidebound and circumspect with your spells.
All in all it's a very well made deck and if you learn the ins and outs of you and your opponent's deck, you can succeed. I myself find the meta - around 5-2 too caustic for it so I prefer to play my 'super control healadin' (seriously, two LoH is beyond amazing).
Try your luck - at best you will reach legend and at worst, you'll find yourself becoming an extremely skilled player.
Happy laddering.
Pretty much this. I've already seen this deck a few times on the ladder. It's not a simple and easy deck, and you have to pretty much know every deck in the meta to do well with it. It doesn't pull off amazing combos for the win or anything. It honestly takes more skill than most other decks to succeed.
The key to good paladin decks is the turn 2 and 3 mininos they use. Many people have connected Knife Juggler to aggro decks, but the fact is that it complements every strategy that involves a token generating hero. I always use Knife Juggler in my paladin decks and it's always amazing. A start of Juggler->Golem gives a good board control position and sets up the ground for good mid-game/late game cards (since the opponent is busy dealing with small stuff).
Personally, I run something similar with +1 Avenging Wrath , +1 Black Knight and +1 Big Game Hunter.
I am surprised with the absence of Avenging Wrath. Probably it's one of those cards that go in and out. If Paladin is somehow able to handle Zoo, then laddering isn't that bad. You have answers to all non-rush decks, always depending on your draws.
Really want to see it against miracle rogue. I saw kolento explaining knife juggler in the deck, makes a lot of sense. Nevertheless, it is arguable if it is good for laddering, because meta in rank 3-10 is different from legend-2
He combos the knife juggler with the hero power and if you had cast equality beforehand its a possible instant kill. He called it a mini-wild pyro.
