I would go with The Curator or Abomination
Nefarian does ok. Same big-bodied value dragon.
Hi guys, I have made a video using this deck! I would like to hear an opinion from you guys about my plays and overall tactics.
Thank you all for watching! See you soon.
Had to stop watching after 6.10min. Your Book Wyrm missplay was too terrible. Why would you trade a 2/2 if you could trade the 3/3?
Missplays in my eyes:
First I would keep Netherspite Historian in the start hand. You said it's too slow but I don't see a way to play this deck fast. It is a slow deck and a minion on the bord is a possibility to trade or at least keeps some dmg away from you.
Then I wouldn't pick DOOM!. Great card in the late game but on turn 2 if you don't even know if the game is over on turn 5... Maybe Embrace the Shadow would be better there.
Then Mind Control Tech... Has the potential to get a big minion or a taunt or omething valuable on your side. And you play it while there are 2/3, 1/1, 0/2, 0/2 minion on the board. You would have had the chance to play Kazakus and get something to clear the board on turn 5 (wouldn't even be necessary since you have reno in hand and there are no minions on the board that could deal a lot of damage.
Drakonid Operative was a good play but... Do you really ahve to think so long what to pick out of the 3 options? Tunnel Trogg has no value at all since you have not a single overload card in your deck. Spirit Claws is great with a Spell Damage minion but this deck has only one Spell Damage minion. You have to go for Jade Lightning.
And then the Book Wyrm... Had to stop there.
In my opinion you made more or less every turn a missplay or at least not the best play.
Thank you so much for this respond! Finally someone who can put it the right way. Im not really sure about the Historian, but I guess it is better than nothing. Definitely I should not have picked the Doom, that was really dumb idea. I wanted to draw some cards with the powerword shield, so I just went for this play. I understand that it can get better value, maybe i should have kept it. Well, when I have the time to think about it I just do it, but you are right that this was kinda obvious choice. Yeah, the book wyrm... that was really bad, I did not even realize it :( .
Thank you again for you constructive critics! I really appreciate it :) You helped to get better!
I replaced Chillmaw for Sylvanas Windrunner.
I don't play this deck but it seems to me the dragon aspect is pretty crucial for some of these synergies (Blackwing Corruptor, Twilight Guardian, etc. I would recommend replacing Chillmaw with another dragon similar in size, or you could look into a non dragon variant of reno priest. Kibler's shadow reno priest seems very successful and fun to play
I see a lot of people talking about replacing Mind Control Tech. I guess if you aren't playing against a lot of Jade Druid/Shaman, but MC Tech is a great late-game card against Jade decks.
Replacement for Chillmaw and Ysera?
I was so suprised to find such a lack of good silence targets myself, I was thinking of doing that swap too I was also thinking about Hungry Dragon for the mind control tech synergy
Disclaimer: am noob
No, I don't think so. It's mostly used in combo decks. I think it would be too slow even for this deck. I'm not sure what you would even use it for.
Here's a budget version without any new legendary or epics just with the new common or rares. I kept in Doomsayer, Twilight Guardian, and Cabal Shadow Priest because they're all cards that were commonly played before the expansion in priest. I also used the "cheaper" cards to help lower the curve of the deck and keep you with a fighting chance against, you know, pirate warriors.
Remove 6 cards: Raza the Chained, Dragonfire Potion, Dirty Rat, Kazakus, Chillmaw and Ysera
Add 6 cards: Excavated Evil, Potion of Madness, Wyrmrest Agent, Blackwing Technician, Twilight Drake, and Museum Curator
I have to say somewhat unrelated I don't like Mind Control Tech so much in this deck. I think without Dirty Rat it's pretty bad. I would suggest the budget version especially lacks a finisher. I put in Ragnaros the Firelord which I had but other options would be Thoughtsteal or Shadow Madness
If you have to swap chillmaw I would recommend swapping it for another dragon. Too many cards in this deck have synergies with them and there already are very few dragons. If you don't have a dragon that seems fit for a replacement I would recommend making the switch to a non dragon variation of reno priest.
- Dirty Rat, - Doomsayer, - Kabal Courier, - Mind Control Tech, - Kabal Chemist, - Kabal Songstealer.
+ Potion of Madness, + Wyrmrest Agent, + Blackwing Technician, + Twilight Drake, + Excavated Evil, + Justicar Trueheart.
Less Kabal, more Dragon synergy. What do you think? Any suggestion would be very well accepted! ;)
Here is my version of the deck, anyway: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/671952-msog-reno-dragon-priest
I feel like Pint size potion isn't really pulling it's weight outside of the obvious shadow priest combo. Deck could use more anti aggro so i'm thinking to sub this for Mistress of Mixtures
Although Mistress of Mixtures is a good card (one of my favorites), I don't think it's optimal to use it in this deck, or really in priest in general. Priest doesn't need a 1 mana 2/2 outside of soulpriest and nzoth decks, because we don't hurt for healing spells as much as other classes do. Warlock would effectively gain a free lifetap, rogue can just backstab the mistress for a free heal, etc. I found more success cutting Pint size potion for a Potion of Madness instead.
Edit: Some anti-aggro options I personally use in my decks are defender of argus, MC Tech, or Second-Rate bruiser.
that was my second choice actually gonna try that
Because you already run 7 cards that cost 6+ mana, you don't want to cut your curve even higher than it currently is by subbing a 5 drop for another 6 drop. Aggro decks will slaughter you for playing so greedy.
I want to try this deck but am going to have to spend some serious dust as well as dust some good cards. Quick question do you see this deck being viable when Reno goes out of standard
