Hi, I am dontbemad (3 x legend) and I made this list after the MsoG release to climb ladder on EU server.
Since I have never reached rank 5 so fast as this season (78% winrate from rank 10 to 5), I decided to post my list and my first guide on hearthpwn.
It destroys the jade druids, dragon priests, reno + tempo mages easily and against renolock, you win if your opponent can't play reno on turn 6 or 7.
It is also teched for a good mirror matchup which is important after rank 5.
Mulligan:
without coin :
Always mulligan for N'Zoth's First Mate, Small-Time Buccaneer, Fiery War Axe
with coin :
N'Zoth's First Mate + Small-Time Buccaneer or Southsea Deckhand is the dream, you can also keep Southsea Deckhand with Upgrade! or Fiery War Axe, you can keep Hobart Grapplehammer - it is sometimes just strong to coin him out and play Fiery War Axe on turn 2
Card choices :
I cut 1 x Southsea Deckhand and added 1 x Acidic Swamp Ooze because deckhand felt to situational and does not often give you direct value with charge. Ooze won me so many mirrors, it is the best tech choice atm since you met so much pirate warriors at higher ranks.
I also cut 2 x Frothing Berserker after tested it a lot, I can say that it is way too slow. You can still play 1 copy of it but I prefer 1 x Argent Horserider and 1 x Southsea Captain in the 3 mana slots instead.
Southsea Captain is just so strong with Patches the Pirate and if you can play it on curve in turn 3 , it almost gives you direct value in every case since you should have 1 or 2 pirates on board.
Hobart Grapplehammer is also such a strong tech card. I run 4 weapons and if you can play him on curve , it gives you 8 extra damage which is just huge (2 dmg for each Fiery War Axe + 2 dmg for each Arcanite Reaper). You can trade the Jade Behemoth of druid and the Twilight Guardian of dragon priest with 1 charge of Reaper which is game winning in those matchups.
Sir Finley Mrrgglton : you obvioulsy have to choose hunter or warlock hero power, if you cannot get it you should pick druid or mage. In mirror match up, you have to be careful with playing Finley because if your oponent plays him first and pick hunter hero power, you can counter it with armor up or even priest heal if you have to play him in late game.
Playstyle :
This is obviously a SMORc deck so you are going to push face damage all the time.
There are a few cases where you have to think about trading but only if it is a real and obvious threat, like for example druid plays Brann Bronzebeard on curve or with coin = you know that something is coming up and better trade it this turn.
Exception is the mirror - this is about board control so you really have to trade his pirates to win the matchup.
You need to SMORc mana efficiently, so with this deck it means if you are for example on turn 2 and don't have any minion but a Heroic Strike, you always just push it face instead of armor up !

*edit : Check my new guide for high legend ranks : MIDRANGE SHAMAN
#legendinaday
Hmm. My Thanks
You are welcome :)
Should this deck play some silence? I'm always 1 attack from lethal and then opponent drops a big taunt
nah that does not fit here.
thanks for your update, you are right, aggro shaman is the hardest match up atm but they don't play things from below and my deck is still favoured against those jade midrange shamans !
thank you, legend with this deck in 3 days, i really like this version and mana curve, you actually have above 70% chance to get a 1 and 2 drop card on starting hand using mulligan changes too. Most of the times i get the good combo from N'Zoth's First Mate + Small-Time Buccaneer, or a turn 1 Hobart Grapplehammer + Fiery War Axe on turn 2 and then (Southsea Deckhand + Bloodsail Raider + Patches the Pirate) turn 3, even some mirror had instant conceded to this combo.
wow gz and thanks bro ! now I'm kind of jealous that you reached legend with my list before I do so :D wish I had more time to play these days ..
US Region I assume?
A suitable replacement for Southsea Captain? Currently running it with a second Southsea Deckhand.
I think that works but maybe better to replace it with a 3 mana card like second horserider. I personally dont like the 10 x 1 drop curve and prefer to play 4 cards on 3 mana slot in this list.
i would suggest either reckless rocketer for that extra charge 5 dmg, 2nd Southsea Deckhand or 2nd Argent Horserider
I put in one copy of Grimy Gadgeteer. With all the weapons, I can usually make him hit the target I want (like Kor'kron) for some insane value.
thanks, I never tested this card in my list, what did you cut for it ?
I don't have Hobart, so him.
it seems a bit too slow for 4 mana in this list but let me know about your results on ladder !
I really like your decklist better than the one that is trending in the front page :
Only played to test the deck and got to rank 12 with pretty much 100% winrate , against almost every kind of decks
Frothing Berserker were really too slow in the deck, and cheap Dread Corsair works way better. I also like Southsea Captain instead of 1x Argent Horserider (i don't really like this card so I think 1 copy of it is completly enough, and it's not a Pirate so less synergy) and Acidic Swamp Ooze instead of 1x Southsea Deckhand , even if Acidic feels really bad when played as a 3/2 ( i guess that's because i'm still in a trash rank and not that many mirrors matches)
But i fell like there's still a lot of room for improvement such as I always struggle with my starting hand , I feel like some cards are stepping on each others and I can't play everything smoothly and also a lack of direct damage, the only one being Mortal Strike : taunts , even the smallest, can be really game breaking because it forces you to use a big damage weapon to go through them for example, and i feel like one or two other direct damages would make the deck better at getting the last damages
Edit : I'm also not convinced by Hobart Grapplehammer , if he actually also buffed the equiped weapon, it would have been a great card, but as it is, I don't know he just feels ... meh, most of the time. And it's not a Pirate
thanks for your comment, Ooze seems to be weak at lower ranks if you do not face many mirrors.
maybe better to swap it until rank 7-8 +. at higher ranks I see it as a core card for sure !
hi, thank you for your comment !
I wonder if brass knuckles is worth it since I never tested it by myself!
keep me updated about your results please :)
good luck
thanks man, rly thinking about test those brass knuckles now :)
you will sometimes come into a situation in which your hand is empty and you need to topdeck direct damage.
If I imagine to topdeck greenskin instead of leeroy, it just looses you those games (only reason why I would not do this change)
Renolock beats this deck consistently... :(
