Hi, I am dontbemad (3 x legend) and I made this list after the MsoG release to climb ladder on EU server.
Since I have never reached rank 5 so fast as this season (78% winrate from rank 10 to 5), I decided to post my list and my first guide on hearthpwn.
It destroys the jade druids, dragon priests, reno + tempo mages easily and against renolock, you win if your opponent can't play reno on turn 6 or 7.
It is also teched for a good mirror matchup which is important after rank 5.
Mulligan:
without coin :
Always mulligan for N'Zoth's First Mate, Small-Time Buccaneer, Fiery War Axe
with coin :
N'Zoth's First Mate + Small-Time Buccaneer or Southsea Deckhand is the dream, you can also keep Southsea Deckhand with Upgrade! or Fiery War Axe, you can keep Hobart Grapplehammer - it is sometimes just strong to coin him out and play Fiery War Axe on turn 2
Card choices :
I cut 1 x Southsea Deckhand and added 1 x Acidic Swamp Ooze because deckhand felt to situational and does not often give you direct value with charge. Ooze won me so many mirrors, it is the best tech choice atm since you met so much pirate warriors at higher ranks.
I also cut 2 x Frothing Berserker after tested it a lot, I can say that it is way too slow. You can still play 1 copy of it but I prefer 1 x Argent Horserider and 1 x Southsea Captain in the 3 mana slots instead.
Southsea Captain is just so strong with Patches the Pirate and if you can play it on curve in turn 3 , it almost gives you direct value in every case since you should have 1 or 2 pirates on board.
Hobart Grapplehammer is also such a strong tech card. I run 4 weapons and if you can play him on curve , it gives you 8 extra damage which is just huge (2 dmg for each Fiery War Axe + 2 dmg for each Arcanite Reaper). You can trade the Jade Behemoth of druid and the Twilight Guardian of dragon priest with 1 charge of Reaper which is game winning in those matchups.
Sir Finley Mrrgglton : you obvioulsy have to choose hunter or warlock hero power, if you cannot get it you should pick druid or mage. In mirror match up, you have to be careful with playing Finley because if your oponent plays him first and pick hunter hero power, you can counter it with armor up or even priest heal if you have to play him in late game.
Playstyle :
This is obviously a SMORc deck so you are going to push face damage all the time.
There are a few cases where you have to think about trading but only if it is a real and obvious threat, like for example druid plays Brann Bronzebeard on curve or with coin = you know that something is coming up and better trade it this turn.
Exception is the mirror - this is about board control so you really have to trade his pirates to win the matchup.
You need to SMORc mana efficiently, so with this deck it means if you are for example on turn 2 and don't have any minion but a Heroic Strike, you always just push it face instead of armor up !

*edit : Check my new guide for high legend ranks : MIDRANGE SHAMAN
hey mate, you only loose this match up if he has reno by turn 6 or 7.
If not, it is always an easy win :)
yeah.. which is why I lost it 8 times in a row... just my bad luck, I know.
not sure if you played my list or the usual slow version with 2 x berserkers ?
Maybe it helps your match up if you try this list ? I rly never lost to renolock except he had it by turn 6 or 7 as mentioned.
hey thanks for your comment !
I cut the deckhand because I rly played so much games and after testing I can tell you that I often could not play the second copy
with value/charge and a 2/1 body is just bad. Horserider instead is much more consistently with charge and often stays on board one turn longer.
It is also often important to trade away annoying taunts (or pirates in mirror) with guaranteed charge = helps to win the shaman match up which is from my opinion the worst match up with this list (I lost hard to Xixo yesterday who was playing the pre-MsoG mid range shaman on ladder)
You can run it for sure but I felt like 2 copies of Southsea deckhand is too much and too situational.
Often you just play it without charge and it feels akward.
Of course it is also an Bloodsail Cultist activator but I prefer to run 1 horserider instead because it gives you charge always.
