Hi guys, tom here. A while back I created a new Aggro Freeze Mage list featuring Medivh's valet and a guide to compliment it. It received a lot of positive feedback and I received many PMs both on reddit and hearthpwn asking me if I stream, or asking to watch me play games to better learn the deck. Unfortunately, I play on a mediocre laptop so streaming isn't an option, as such I decided to make a 4-part video series.
Anyway, I played my aggro freeze mage list last week and over two days I hit 10 legend with the deck, from about ~300 legend, with a 66.2% winrate. Furthermore, I also managed a 12-2 Heroic Tavern Brawl run with the same exact list. During my 10 legend climb specifically, I recorded some games and recorded my voice in real time so you can better understand some of my thoughts and decision making behind each turn.
Here's the videos, hope you enjoy! Feel free to ask questions :)

Any replacements for Bloodmage Thalnos ? I just dont have it...
It cannot be replaced. You should craft it ASAP. Staple in Mage, Rogue and midrange Shaman! Also it i a classic and it is awesome...
This deck is terribly overrated. Yes when it works its cool but its not consistent. Priest, Warrior, Druid are auto loss. Tempo mage is usually a loss. And yes you do win against them here and there when they mis read your deck but beating bad players is nothing to write home about. This deck in this meta is 55% if not lower. Fun deck to play to play something other than shaman/curve stone but don't expect to match the results of the OP since now everyone knows of this deck and people won't make mistakes thinking ur a freeze mage. No element of surpirse here which allowed for alot of wins I am sure.
I find the deck pretty good at beating Zoo and shaman. Really thats it. Both of which if they don't have a crazy start and u have doomsayer/nova or block at some point in game.
I don't write on any sites at all, but after long brake I wanted to receive 5 rank fast, and was stuggling around 8-9 rank. I didn't had any hope to be in time, but I tried this deck just for fun. At start i received 5 wins streak and then 1 lose.
Then I tried to include some late game cards, or do some changes, and I received stats like 4-6 with other versions. But I got some experience and understood how this deck has to be played. I returned to original version, tried again, and received rank 5.
This deck is a lot of fun, and people don't know what it can do, thanks you so much for posting it. For example rank 5 give me priest, that didn't think that 3-3 wyrm can be threat to 25 hp, and he would kill me next turn unless...
Priest, Warrior autoloss, so getting good results depends on a lot of luck
Glad to see that you did so well with aggro freeze! in my opinion it is a pretty difficult deck to learn to play and some small decisions can be quite crucial in the end. I am pretty happy about the results I managed to get with the deck but I'm still learning it... 5-1 so far.
I made a video showcasing your deck, I hope that you guys enjoy and please give this deck a shot as it is super satisfying to pilot.

Wow, I had a "Play 50 Mage Cards" quest, ran this in Casual. 5-0 ez quest ez lyf.
Can u please tell me what will be good to replace valet? I have not yet unlocked karazan, on my way, but really want to play this.....so a good replacement plz
Is Forgotten Torch a must have in this deck? Or are there any replacements
No replacements too much value in this deck
Thats the very basics of it yes. Essentially you want to play Loot Hoarder, acolyte, mana wyrm, and arcane intellect early, while doing this you swing face as much as possible with these minions hopefully getting him down to 20 hp or less, from there use the spells you have drawn to stall into your burst or just burst him down.
Replaced Bloodmage with Eater of secrets (Love that card) It's killin, thanks.
Winrate 68% so far. 11 wins and 5 loss. 3 loss by warrior and 2 by Druid. Fun deck if I don't play against warrior. This deck owns Shamans. Gonna play 100 games with this deck and see the stats afterwards
NICE DECK KappaPride !
Big fan of this deck. It's a low priced but fun to play deck. Really like the mechanic of cycling through the deck, looking for spells to throw into my opponent's face. So much fun if it works out.
A shame it's not really working around ranks 20 - 10. Definitely not a deck to ladder with.
No chance vs any decks that run healing or Warrior + Justicar Trueheart
Also tried some slight variations, e.g. adding a copy of Blizzard for additional board stall, Brann Bronzebeard for more [card]Medivh's Valet[/card] Value and even Pyroblastas a 'finisher".
Hanging around 50% Winrate (20-19) at rank 15.
Even though still one of my favourite decks.
I just shared my experience with this deck, playing around rank 15.
I'd be really glad, if someone could proof the contrary, showing that this deck can actually perform well here. Don't get me wrong. Winstreaks and stuff are definitely possible though i wouldn't attempt this deck for serious progression.
Meta in these low ranks is slightly different, i barely see any Midrange Shamans for example.
Really good deck, but might be a bit difficult to learn.
The deck is doing great at level 5, where I am at. Winning with shaman, rogue, warlock, freeze mage. I even won both my games against warrior - first against dragon, which is easier. The second I've won with control warrior even after 4 turns of Justicar enchanced Armoring up (!). I have thrown literally every damage in the deck at him, last turn he was at 17 counting armor, I had 1 card in the library and I knew it to be frostbolt. I went thalnos, frostbolt, ice lance, ice lance, kill thalnos with hero power, draw frostbolt, burn him for exactly 17, no damage left in hand or library :D
I should mention the deck is extremely hard to pilot, but so rewarding. Couldn't have done it without watching the videos (thanks man!). For me the most difficult matchup is shaman - it's very hard to know when to start going face, when to start freezing and so on. If you give him cards with oracle he can deal a lot of damage with weapon and bolts negating a freeze and activating ice block if you're to low on life
im saving for Bloodmage Thalnos but until then what should i substitute?
