Hey Guys, TheCantelope here. (NEW** If we get this deck to 100 upvotes I'll write a more detailed guide)
I used this deck heavily while climbing to legend this season. It's effective, and gave me some of the most fun moments I've ever had in hearthstone. Opponents have almost no idea how to play against it, and when you make your swing turns, I guarantee you'll see more insta-concedes than you've ever seen in your life. One of the best parts of this deck are the multiple win conditions: Here is a video of me pulling off an insane game breaking Aviana turn to win a match - Aviana+Innervate=GG
1)High roll with Barnes.
I advise only playing Barnes on turn 4 if you have a coin, or an innervate in hand in case you high-roll an Aviana. This is important so you can play out your other big minions before the 1/1 Aviana gets killed off. If no coin or innervate, play Barnes on turn 5. You can high-roll a Deathwing Dragonlord and instantly get all your massive dragons in play, or get a Y'Shaarj copy and pull a huge minion out of your deck. Your chance of high-rolling a helpful minion are 11/14, and sometimes can outright win the game for you.
2)Ramp, Ramp, Ramp.
Your most likely win condition is to just hard mulligan for ramp at the beginning of the game, so you can create your game breaking swing turns.
3)Giant Dragons
Deathwing Dragonlord can pull out Ysera, Deathwing, and Chillmaw. Nuff' said.
4)Aviana is Bae
This deck can be very difficult to win with if you don't plan out your Aviana turns. Many times you have to play very patiently to get out a big burst of giant minions onto the board. See video linked in intro.
Mulligans: Ramp, innervates, and Barnes are your best friends. Aside from maybe keeping an occasional wrath against against an opponent you know is playing a very aggressive deck, hard mulligan for the above cards in all situations.
Special Points and Considerations: Make sure to plan your turns very well and exercise patience. Saving Wrath and Swipes to use with Thalanos(if possible) can be game saving. Soggoth is also an absolute game changer against spell heavy decks. Against control warrior, Nature's Idol out minions for extra threats. Shoutout to the man, the myth, the legend: MiniTitan87!!!!
Bad Matchups: Zoo can be very difficult without a lucky power turn, or heavy early ramp.
Contact for help: Feel free to come by my stream any weeknight and ask me questions directly about the deck/ how to play it. Twitch.tv/TheCantelope
Watch out for a Brawl though. :)
Hypothetically, if you were going to play this deck in Wild, would you make any changes?
Add dr boom =)
Replace for Aviana and Soggoth the Slitherer???
Unfortunately there really aren't any replacements for those. They both fill a very specific role, especially aviana. You can try to replace soggoth with a big taunt like a bog creeper, or arakoa.
Getting destroyed by aggro, they always have a full board before i can get a big minion down and i have no way to clear.
I would definitely recommend adding in Baron Geddon. The deck creator proposes swapping out Chillmaw for Geddon, which I totally agree with.
I often use Feral Rage to buy more time against aggressive decks by adding armor. Swipe plus Thlanos is your best bet for a board clear. If you need to buy more time, you could also consider adding in a second Moonglade Portal, possibly dropping Deathwing. It reduces the sexiness of the Y'Shaarj play, but getting that healing more consistently could do the trick.
Zoo is the worst match up for sure, but shaman is beatable. Against zoo, you need to ramp hard and fast. Things always get worse before they get better in that match-up, so play it patient and cool, then drop big boys.
Hi all, what a zany deck. I love it. I’ve taken it from R15 to R9, so I’ve been getting good use out of it. I’m not Top 50 Legend, but as many of the readers here aren’t either, perhaps this advice will be handy for those in my tier. I made a few modifications that have been helpful in my climb.
I made the swap that the deck creator recommended to help against aggressive decks – swapping out Chillmaw for Geddon. He is a bit faster than Chillmaw and doesn’t rely on having a dragon in hand to pull off the board clear.
Additionally, I removed one Mire Keeper to add in another late game threat. I found that I never got value out of the second Mire Keeper. I was typically using it for the 2/2 slime, which isn’t nearly as helpful as another huge creature. Plus, Mire Keeper was a bummer of a draw from Barnes/Y’Shaarj. I experimented with a few different replacement cards – like Malygos, Harrison Jones, Thaurissan, Nefarian. But, I found that Cairne works really well. He is a nice draw from Barnes because after your 1/1 is cleared, they’ve still got to deal with the Deathrattle. He is also good against popular board clears like Brawl, because you get to keep some board presence. Best of all, as a 6 drop, you get to make some proactive plays earlier in the game. So, while you lose a bit of ramp (which I wasn’t often getting anyways), you make up for it with a lower cost minion that is a bit stickier. Give it a shot.
TLDR:
+1 Cairne, +1 Geddon,
-1 Mire Keeper, -1 Chillmaw
Glad you like it man! I'm glad you are theory crafting! I'd argue that having two mire keepers is important to increase your chance of getting ramp in your opening hand. Drawing one late isn't the best obviously, but two gives the deck consistency.
This deck is the most fun I've had in a long time so just have to comment. Playing trough the lower ranks with this (15-10) with 8 straight wins and it has been a blast. People just don't know what to do. Shamans Hex too early, Warriors brawl to early etc etc.
For example I played my barnes on 4, pulls out a 1/1 Deathwing the dragon lord, opponent uses Spellbreaker to silence it and it become's a 12/12. Thanks mate you really made my day :D
Awesome dude! Great to hear you like it!!
Ok this deck is fucking crazy and I'm loving it. Giggling like a little Girl! :D
Just played a CW who was super happy about Brawling my Board of : Barnes + Mini Yaashrj + big Yasshrj + Sogoth. I paly Aviana into new Deathwing, Dragonlord next turn he executes him and he pulls Ysera, Deathwing and Chillmaw.
Felt so good!
Got im!
Any replacement for Innervate ? XD JK
Nay
Currently only missing leroy. is there other replacements that is good until i can get it?
Leroy? XD
You can swap Chillmaw out for Baron Geddon. If you hard mulligan for ramp, you should still be able to overpower even aggro decks when you draw well. Goodluck!
The moments when you coin innvervate into ysharrj that pulls big ysharrj.
Great Deck +1
