Update August 29th
- 2 x Inner Rage, 1 x Stampeding Kodo, 1 x Arcanite Reaper
+ 1 x slam, 1 x Armorsmith, 2 x Sludge Belcher
After the last wing of Naxxramas was released I started having some troubles with the old version of the deck but in the last few days I have been using this new updated version of the deck that has been working a lot better.
The inner rages were not working as well for me as they used to for a few reasons, one I only have one spelldamage minion in the deck instead of the 3 I used to have meaning that as offense it usually only does one damage. The second reason is that I'm just not facing as many good targets for it as I used to, instead of Leper Gnomes and young priestesses I'm seeing Undertakers and Haunted Creepers. Lastly the deck has another way to enrage Grommash now in Death's Bite.
I took out an Arcanite Reaper because I was finding myself with a bit too many weapons sometimes and I wanted some extra minions in the deck instead, the 2 Sludge Belchers fit the role perfectly. I added another Armorsmith because I found myself without anything to play on turn 2 too often. The Stampeding Kodo is still decent but I was not getting as much use out of it as I used to either since a Haunted Creeper for example is not exactly a great target most of the time. The Slam fits in to make up for the lack of removal the 2 Inner rages have left in the deck.
I also changed the video at the end with a new more recent one of myself playing the new version of the deck.
Update August 13th
- 1 x Slam, - 1 x Arcanite Reaper, + 2 x Death's Bite.
The new Axe from Naxxramas is good, so I added two of them, because of the extra weapons in the deck I removed an Arcanite Reaper, and because the weapons are good against Zoo I decided to remove a slam to make room for the second one.
Update August 12th
- 1 x Argent Commander, + 1 x Slam.
I made this change to improve the match up vs Zoo since sometimes I just didn't have enough removal, at the same time it shouldn't hurt the match up vs control much either since you can use it as a card cycle instead of direct removal as well.
I also changed the video to one of me playing the current version of the deck in the game that took me to legend for the season.
Update August 7th
- 1 x Armorsmith, + 1 x Azure Drake.
As other people have noted as well the new version of the deck was a bit light on card draw, this change helps with that. The reason for the removal of the Armorsmith is that it was mainly there as a counter to rogues, now that rogues are not as popular anymore they are not as essential.
Update August 2nd
After a lot of experimentation after Naxx I have finally come up with a new version of the deck that I'm happy with and that I have been winning with.
- 2 Slam, - Bloodmage Thalnos, - Loot Hoarder, - 2 Azure Drake
+ Execute, + Spellbreaker, + Loatheb, + Stampeding Kodo, + The Black Knight, + Grommash Hellscream
I have removed the outdated videos and added a new one of me playing the deck early in the new season on my way back to legend.
Update july 10th
I have made some small changes to the mulligan description and added a card replacement section. I have also added a link to a one minute guide from Tales of Lumin featuring the deck. Lastly I have reached legend now in season 4 with this deck and added a video featuring my 3 attempts at getting the last star needed.
Update july 6th
-2 Argent Squire, -1 Cleave, -1 Arathi Weaponsmith
+2 Armorsmith, +2 whirlwind
Added new video with gameplay of the new version of the deck.
Introduction
Hey everyone, I have reached legend the last 5 seasons and I ended last season as legend rank 94 with the aggro mill rogue deck. I played that deck up to legend this season as well but I wanted to try something new. I got the idea to make a tempo warrior deck, inspired by the tempo rogue. I figured the warrior has a lot of similar tools, inner rage as the no cost removal backstab, fiery war axe in place of deadly poison+hero power, cruel taskmaster in place of SI:7 agent and so on. I crafted the deck and it did pretty well, I kept adjusting it until I could get into the top 50 legend with it, and this is the result.
Tempo talk
This deck is not a pure aggro deck instead it has more value based minions and a bunch of removal it aims to get board control and never let go of it. The deck also has a lot of card draw to keep it going until the end, it is not uncommon that I end up with 6+ cards in my hand at turn 5 even though I have been using all my mana every turn thanks to acolyte pain/taskmaster synergy and so on. As well as all the card draw the deck also has a lot of weapons and chargers to gain and keep board control quickly.
It is not an ordinary control deck either, even though it does aim to control the board it does it while filling up the board with minions at the same time instead of just stalling until you can get late game legendaries out like with the usual control warrior deck.
That is why I call it tempo warrior, it gains control of the board and game with fast and mana efficient plays.
Mulliganning
Against control mulligan for Armorsmiths/Loot Hoarders/Amani Berserkers/Fiery War Axe I will also keep harvest golem/Acolyte of Pain if I already have one of those 4 cards. Against aggro also keep taskmasters and if I am going second vs aggro meaning I have an extra card I will even keep whirlwind.
Replacements
The Black Knight, He can be replaced by a Spectral Knight, it's a different kind of card than The Black Knight but it fits into the deck extremely well. Harrison Jones or Acidic Swamp Ooze can also work as good replacements if you are facing a lot of weapon users.
Grommash Hellscream, If you don't have him I would replace him with a second Argent Commander, the Commander does less damge but it does have the advantage of being cheaper which can actually be a pretty big advantage in some games. I got to legend in a previous season without Grommash, so don't worry too much if you have to make this change.
Gameplan
Board control, board control and more board control. Get the board under control at all cost, after you get board control it is perfectly fine to hit face with your weapons if you have another weapon ready to go, but not before that.
Since most of the decks in the meta right now are extremely burst heavy the warriors hero power can be quite useful mid to late game buffing yourself out of combo range. Armor is especially powerful vs freeze mages, if you can have 5+ armor up by turn 9 while keeping board control they're in trouble.
Overall I find that this deck feels very similar to playing tempo rogue, so if you have played that before it should feel familiar, but I actually think this deck is stronger than tempo rogue at least right now.
Thanks for reading this far, if you like the deck go ahead and show support by ranking it.

I've been playing decks based off your Tempo Warrior deck for a few seasons now, and absolutely love them. This latest version is again very enjoyable, thanks for putting it together. =D
A typical Colma deck, neither good, nor bad: Average.
I cant get passed rank 16 with this deck have winning and losing streaks, must be some bad hands. But i also dont have Grommash, or TBK, currently using another spell breaker and argent commander. About to have 1600 dust, should i get Grom, or TBK? Warrior is my main so grom would be nice, but tbk is good at what he does and can work into my other decks.
TL:DR I have run into the same issue with this deck this season around the same rank. This deck carried me much farther last season. I am currently maining Warrior, though have switched to control Warrior after hitting a road block. I have both The Black Knight & Grommash Hellscream . Now that I am playing mainly Warrior, the choice between the two for me is clear. I would need Grom MUCH more maining Warrior as opposed to TBK. If you had not said you mained Warrior, I would def say TBK.
If you are hard set on maining Warrior, I would say craft Grommash Hellscream first. If you had not said Warrior was what you played as main, I would say The Black Knight , for the reason you stated i.e. it is a neutral legendary and is obviously much more versatile fitting in many hero/deck types. It is especially nice when the meta is taunt heavy, or when heroes that have many powerful taunts i.e. ramp Druid (or most Druid decks besides fast Druid) becomes prevalent on the ladder. Though with Grommash Hellscream , it also fits very nicely in control Warrior. I also this season ran into issues winning with this deck at exactly rank 16. It carried me much farther last season. I have 'mained' several heroes at one time or another since beta. I am now (since last season, after seeing this deck) playing warrior mostly. I have switched to control warrior because of running into the same problem as you. One of the main issues I have always had running this deck is deciding when you need to just 'rush' down the opponent, rather than keeping board control as top priority. If you watch many of Colma's videos playing this deck, you will notice at times he does decide that he just needs to try to rush down the opponent, hope your chargers that you have yet to draw come soon so you can bust the opponent before he does you. That has for me been hard to determine exactly at what point you switch to rushing. There is little room for error (i.e. waiting to late to yolo) in this situation I have found, especially when playing against hunters. Though again, to your main question, Grommash Hellscream or The Black Knight , with me having both, and now mostly playing Warrior, the decision would be easy. I would much rather have Grommash Hellscream. While TBK can and does have a major effect on a game, it is not as much a win condition imo as Grom, and especially in this deck. I can not count the times that I have used the last charge on a Death's Bite to active Grom's enrage on turn 8 (and with only doing 1 damage to Grom leaving him with 8 HP which is much harder for the opponent to respond to than otherwise) to win the game or turn it back into your favour.
Also BTW I just watched the most recent (which is not very recent, season 5) video he posted using this deck here on this page. His last game when playing Darkwonyx is a good example of having to decide when to not keep board control as your priority but rather rush the opponent, hoping for the cards you know you have yet to draw that could win the gam come. It also shows how great Death's Bite can be as a turn 8 activator for Grommash Hellscream and the big difference only taking 1 HP from Grom is in making it more difficult to deal with. It also shows you (even though it is only 1 game/example) how important Grom is for a win condition (and I would argue Death's Bite has only made From much better) as opposed to The Black Knight which can often be a card that will just sit in hand waiting for a target. It is also a terrible feeling when you decide you have to drop TBK just for board presence and on the opponents next turn he drops a big taunt. Again, if maining a Warrior, imo, Grom is the much better choice. Let us know what you decide and how it works out. GLHF!
Yea i decided to get Grom and after playing 5 games i won 3 because of him, Thanks for reinforcing my decision i feel he is a great finisher card
I gave up on this deck, i have all the cards now and i still just get smoked
yes, I enjoy playing it a lot. I do not love getting stuck at rank 15. So again I am going with a control warrior which I am not seeing a lot of at the current rank I am, 15. I refuse to play zoo. It is just a trash deck to me, I do not enjoy it. Yes it takes A LITTLE skill (if I said none, there would be butthurt blowback.) If I can not get the control warrior tweaked to where it at least keeps me climbing, will probably look at the 2 new variations of priest, or a secret/freeze mage. GL. Let us know what you decided to go with. Oh (edited) there also is a nice pally deck I have gone up against that I may try a version of. It seems strong. I have seem a couple get Kel'Thuzd down and if not dealt with, dropping my by far favorite class legendary, and possibly favorite legendary out rite Tirion Fordring is basically check mate. Though even w/o KT, The decks I have played against with nice control Aldor Pacekeeper can be a heartbreaker, especially in conjunction with Stampeding Kodo . In summary, along with Gaurdian of Kings Lay on Hands if the Pally can get into the late game after a board clear or two with Wild Pyromancer & Equality & Consecration he is usually in a good position. I enjoy playing those type pally decks too
Yea control warrior seems the way to go, though every deck has like 8 legendaries sadly ive just only started 2 weeks ago but the deck i came up with is basically using naxx legendaries to fill the position of the other ones, similar play style but ive been having better luck with it
are you using Maexxna by chance as a 6 mana slot? I have used it in a few games instead of Cairne Bloodhoof . I it did ok, but got destroyed by a Stampeding Kodo and I pulled it. If you are using it, just curious how it is working for you.
Eagerly awaiting the next update, colma. I love playing this deck.
hey,
I just don't get how this deck should work, I've been playing it for a couple of days and I am finding myself being destroyed by other control decks, especially the freeze mage. The only thing that I don't have is black knight, got ragnaros instead, the rest of the cards are identical, am this season in rank 16-17 and have like a 30% win rate.
what a deck, so good
this deck is excellenct except for the shaman, thats alle folks .
Priest destorys it as well.
Still climbing well with similiar deck to this one. Tho i didn't face priests yet but i have 2x spellbreakers and spectral knight at bay for that.
4-0 at this season.
As Colma said, a 2nd Argent Commander could be used as a replacement. He even said in some situations, it can even be better. Though I have found having the Death's Bite death rattle on turn 8 with Grommash Hellscream has been a nice surpise (usually game ending) combo.
P.s. is there any way to "save" a deck to your profile page on this website so you don't have to search for the ones you like, like a favorites list?
Nice deck!!! currently using in ranked and going 2-0 off the bat
2nd Spellbreaker as a sub for BK O.K. or is there something better?
