GUIDE UPDATED!
2016/11/09
-1 Swashburglar, -1 Sap, +1 SI:7 Agent, +1 Shadow Strike
Allows a better board control.
1. CARDS CHOISE
Here I will explain the pick of some cards:
1xConceal: A 1 mana card that will allow us to protect our most valuable minions, as well as a good combo maker AND a cycling card.
Note: Normally to be used after playing Malygos or Gadgetzan Auctioneer
Note2: As the main finisher is Malygos, many times we need one more turn to fully use our spells. Also, as a Rogue deck, the cycling is VERY important, and we can use the same weapon as Miracle Rogue giving stealth to Gadgetzan to keep the cycling moving.
2xShiv: Not very common to see 2 Shivs on a Rougue deck. But Shiv is a MUST with Mylagos, as you will do 6 direct damage, plus draw a card. Even without him, is a good cycling system.
2. MULLIGAN
In general terms, we will have:
VS Aggro (Aka Hunter/Warlock/Mage/Shaman)
>No-Coin: Swashburglar, Backstab, SI:7 Agent, Shiv, Undercity Huckster
>Coin: Swashburglar, Backstab, SI:7 Agent, Shiv, Tomb Pillager, Fan of Knives, Undercity Huckster
VS more slower decks (aka Druid/Paladin/Priest/Rogue/Warrior)
>No-Coin: Swashburglar, SI:7 Agent, Tomb Pillager, Undercity Huckster
>Coin: Swashburglar, SI:7 Agent, Eviscerate, Tomb Pillager, Undercity Huckster, Azure Drake, Emperor Thaurissan
KEEP COMBOS!
Edwin VanCleff + some of: Preparation, Backstab, Coin, Swashbuglar
SI:7 Agent + someof: Preparation, Backstab, Coin, Swashbuglar
Note: Avoid two of the same.
Note2: Be careful, here we are assuming some decks, but we can be mistaken. For example, warrior could be a dragon face deck, and not a control type as we are thinking.
3. STRATEGY
The basic strategy is very easy. Play as a common rogue, that means, that you should maintain some sort of board control, and do some face-damage. The goal is to get a Gadgetzan Auctioneer for fast draw (cycling), and then with Malygos destroy him with the spell damage you have. But keep in mind, Mylagos it's NOT a requirement to win!.. you can always win with direct face damage + spell damage (and it's about 50% of the wins). Keep in mind that 16 health is a double Sinister Strike's win, and that 25 health is double sinister plus Eviscerate.
Notes:
1) You can always kill your opponent without the Malygos finisher.
2) Prioritize the cycling (and believe in your cards.. many times you will cycle and find the solution)
3) Always think about what your opponent can do/will do, and keep track of main threats and the spells you have already played.
4. COMBOS
Early Game:
>Swashburglar or Coin + SI: Agent 7
>Backstab+ (SI: Agent 7 or Coin+Edwin VanCleff)
>Preparation+spell damage (Fan of Knives, Eviscerate, Shiv)+Edwin VanCleff
>Swashburglar+Coin+Edwin VanCleff
Malygos Damage: (Mylagos plus)
1xSinister Strike: 8 damage
2xSinister Strike: 16 damage
2xSinister Strike+Eviscerate: 25 damage
2xSinister Strike+2xEviscerate: 34 damage
Others:
Shiv: 6 damage + 1 draw
Fan of Knives: 8 damage (board) + 1 draw
*You should have played Emperor Thaurasian to reduce some of these cards cost.
You can do 46 direct spell damage in one turn after playing Malygos.
5. CARD REPLACEMENTS
Here we have the replacements for all the Legendary and Epic cards. Other cards should be crafted.
Essential! CAN´T BE REPLACED!
It's essential!

(1st) => Pick one: (2nd), or
(2nd) => No replacement. You should at least have 1.

6. OTHER CARDS
This deck kind of deck is very popular, so we have some minor variants. In almost all the cases, REPLACE 1 Swashburglar for:
1) For a more 'lethal' approach. Evolved Kobold will allow us to clean more efficiently the board with Fan of Knives, and will allow us to do more face damage with the spells.
2) Barnes gives us RNG. You get (more) value in 7 out of 14 cards (thalnos, undercity, tomb x2, emperor, gadzetzan x2).
3) The Iron Skulker is a very good option if we are facing too many zoo warlocks and shamans (because of totems).
4) A second Shadow Strike (normally for one Sap) is better against more aggro and mid type of decks (Sap is better against control).
Note: Cards to be replace are: (1) Swashburglar and/or Conceal.
7. FAQ
1) Why 2 Swashburglar and a Conceal?
When I made this deck, the idea was to keep it fast. So, I needed low mana-cost in order to activate the combo of SI: 7 Agent and Eviscerate, and to get a big Edwin VanCleff. In the same line, Conceal allows us to have an extra turn after playing Malygos, or defending our Gadgetzan Auctioneer to keep a fast cycling of cards.
8. HOW TO PLAY VANCLEEF
You should know WHEN a big Edwin is good, and when a 6/6 Edwin IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.
Let me explain a little: Some decks, do not have good removals, or doesn't have at all: Zoolock, Maly/Yogg Druid, Tempo Mage, Face Hunter, dragon Warrior, etc. YOU SHOULD know the meta and what you are facing.. I can tell against what I'm playing within the first two turns...
So.. IN THOSE cases a 8/8 or MORE Edwin is what you want (preferable a 10/10 or 12/12), because the risk to be removed is almost 0 (for example in zoolock is 0).
BUT if you play against shaman, control paladin, priest*, rogue, or control warrior, the chances to be removed are big, so don't try to get a big Edwin, just play it after some cards AS A NORMAL TURN (don't force it), so you get around a 6/6 (even a 4/4 is ok).
(Against priests, normally a 4/4 Edwin is a better option)
In some cases I have won just for Edwin: Against Dragon Warrior, Face Hunter, Tempo Mage, Zoolock, I've been able to make a 12/12 Edwin at turn 3 (or so.. sometimes is a 10/10 turn 2: backstab, coin, preparation, spell), and won in next two turns. BUT, as I said, I did that because the risk was minimum. I would never waste my cards to make a big Edwin against a Shaman, for example.
Note: for some heroes, it depends on the deck: Shaman almost ALWAYS runs Hex, as well as a Priest almost always have Shadow Word. BUT, for example, Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Mage, etc, will depend on the deck. It's not the same a Control (or Murloc) Paladin, than a Divine Shield Aggro Paladin, or a Tempo Mage (normally without Poly), than a Control Mage, or a Dragon Warrior (normally with only 1 or 2 execute at most), than a Control Warrior (with lot's of removals), etc, etc, etc.
Note2: A 6/6 Edwin that you played on curve (after just 2 cards), it's a pretty good card (just 3 mana). Also it can save you from a removal (consider that the opponent is wasting a 3 mana or more, removal on a 3 mana card!), AND you are making him to waste mana on it, so he can't have a pretty good turn (at least 3 mana will be wasted)
BlackRock and TGT will go out in 2017
Slight correction, Blackrock and TGT (and LOE) will go out in 2017 when the first expansion of 2017 is released (not likely to be until March/April).
na mate,
they are pulling going to sync it with the year
The new expansion is set to be out in December 2016 the trailers and some cards are even revealed already
Standard will always cycle with the first expansion of the calendar year, so nothing will cycle out with MSoG.
Tomb Pillager is one of the best cards Rogue has right now aside from Auctioneer itself. You need it for Miracle to work.
But then again even if it's going out next year, how much time is that? 3? Maybe 4 months? It's not worth to spend 1400 gold on it considering I don't have the third stage yet
You mean Edwin?
Something like what? When yo play it or what combos?
75% win-ratio with this. Really good.
The mulligan is hard tho.. a guide would be appreciated :)
I will do it soon. ;)
I don't make my decks based on others. Just playing.
I like Swash because he allows to play combo, as well as giving you another card.
I haven't tested with Evolved Kobolt or Dark Iron Skulker, but they probably fit well.
at least Pavel today won with almost the same deck. =')
Yeah.. I should.. but I enjoy more to play than making guides, plus I have little time. Also, I normally upload many decks, and some get upvoted and others no, so I prefer to see first if one is getting upvote to make the guide. 40 votes it's not that much =/
