Hey Guys,
this is the newest version of facehunter (post nerf Yogg), my teammate Xzirez and I came up with.
Video about decklist, gameplay and for those who need legend proof :)
Another video (in German) of me playing the deck vs Tempo Mage. I have had big problems vs tempo mage, but if you play it right, you will be around 60% winrate. Keep Removal and kill every minion.
2,5h video of me playing the deck (most of the comment is in German) on legend ladder EU. Staying top5 all the time, peaking at #2: twitch permalink
Mulligan:
without coin:
You want to have a one drop creature T1. This is the reason I prefer playing 5 one drop creatures over 4 in facehunter. Fiery Bat is sometimes better than Argent Squire (vs Druid e.g.) most of the time it is the other way round (vs. shaman e.g.). Always keep Cat Trick because your opponent will trigger it unless he coins T1 (Totem Golem e.g.). Try to find a good three drop like Cloaked Huntress on top ;)
Kindly grandmother + eaglehorn bow is also very good vs Shamans, cause u can get a perfect trade vs. Totem Golem.
with coin:
The slower your opponent's deck, the greedier your keep. Try to get Cloaked Huntress and a one drop. Keep traps that are good against your opponent on top of Eaglehorn Bow, cloacked huntress and Secretkeeper.
Playstyle:
You want to find the play that deals the most damage over the duration of the game. In most cases the problem is that you dont really exactly know the duration of the game, cause it depends on the upcomming draws and your opponents hand/answers. Try to figure out if your cards/total mana in hand will be enough till the end of the game. If not: start using steady shot! Use your hero power wisely. often it is fine to hero power T3/4 if you play sth. along with it.
Try to calculate everything! Most matchups will be very close, especially vs warrior. Every point of damage matters. The difference between a noob "I go only SMOrc" Facehunter and a really good one is perhaps 1-5 damage per game. but these points of damage will decide over winning or losing in so many cases. The hardest decissions are the ones, that are almost equal in dmg/value. Try to min max them! You need to topdeck lethal often in the end, which is fine cause you will have a ton of outs. Try to figure out your Win% for every line of play.
Traps:
Winning and losing with this deck will most of the time being decided by how many value/damage you got out of your traps. This is the hardest part to play but also the most rewarding and fun part about it. I have a very good winrate against control warrior e.g. cause I managed to lure them into the traps almost everytime. Do mindgames on rank3 or better! Bluff a trap by instantly playing it and play a very obvious trap while waiting 30secs, huffering over your cards and hero power. This will ofc only work vs better players who think about your actions.
Cat Trick is very strong vs Rogue, Druid, Warrior, soimetimes Shaman.
Snake Trap is good T2 (most of the time)
Explosive Trap lets you sometimes stall the game and unleash the hounds and steady shot will benefit from it.
Freezing Trap is very good against a Totem Golem and to protect your Cloaked Huntress. Try to isolate a enemy high cost minion (without taunt) and win.
Replacements:
Leeroy Jenkins: you can play either Reckless Rocketeer (same slot, just weaker) or Animal Companion (better card than rocketeer, but crowded 3mana slot). I've been testing Barnes as well and it might be the best replacement.
Snake Trap: Snipe fits into the deck as well :)
Cat Trick: You ll lose a lot of win% by replacing this one, would play one Snipe instead any maybe one Dire Wolf Alpha or Barnes.
Quick Shot: This card isn't really replaceable, because it is direct damage and card draw, which you both need. If you don't have it, you need to higher your mana curve, making the deck slower. Barnes, Animal Companion, Reckless Rocketeer, Wolfrider will work, but weaken the deck.
FAQ:
Why don't you run Animal Companion? It is a strong card and definitly playable in the deck. If you roll Huffer your winrate is much higher for sure. Misha and especially Leokk most of the time aren't great and will perhaps lower your winrate (although Leokk has many synergies with your minions and unleash). The main problem is, that you already run so many 3 drops. If you want you can give it a try, replacing Fiery Bat or Argent Horserider.
Why do you play Argent Squire over Fiery Bat? Personally I like Fiery Bat more in face hunter cause it can deal one dmg more and is also activatesKill Command. There are 2 reasons why Argent Squire is still better at the moment: You need boardcontrol in the first few turns to win the game. Fiery Bat is way worse in terms of that. The 2nd aspects is that Squire is better against most other meta decks atm, especially shamans and warriors (e.g. Tunnel Trogg, Maelstrom Portal, Unstable Ghoul, Fiery War Axe). Fiery Bat is better against druids because it punishes a T2 wildgrowth. So, if more ppl will start playing druid again, switching makes sense.
I will keep this guide up to date. If you liked it, please leave me an upvote and a comment. If you didnt like it leave me a comment with critic ;)

videos from other ppl testing the deck:
Its a fun build and its properly just me who is a retard, but cant see how you got that far with it...!!!
adjusting and adapting to the meta. you cant just play any deck in any context, and expect the same results
Same here, I don't like this deck
Thx, nice deck!
But i have big trobles agains paladins. Becouse they have many healing oportuninies Ivory Knight Forbidden Healing Truesilver Champion Ragnaros, Lightlord. Give me some advice pls.
Hmm thats actually a good idea, however, I think the chance argent squire doing more than 3 damage in total is overall bigger.
this deck is beautiful
I had severe problems with this deck. I can admit that I probably do not have the skills required, but hunter does not seem to be among the strongest classes right now. Shamans wrecked me all the time with their power cards :(
Thijs was also playing quite similar deck (although with Barnes) in his stream this morning, and he did not manage to get good winrate either.
I have achieved legend in the past 2 months using secret hunter and hybrid hunter, but with the nerf to COTW and the inability to deal with midrange shaman who just malelstorm portal/hex everything I decided to switch to this deck and give it a try. I have put in around 100 games.
I made it to rank 6 but I seem stuck at the moment. I thought Argent Squire's attack was too low and i swapped them for 2x brave archer--which have won me a handful of games when my hand was empty and I hero power them for 4 to seal the deal. It seems to be a better choice than an arcane shot, since I can still play it on turn 1 if I cannot draw my secret keeper or fiery bat.
But the problem now i have is mostly with druid. Innervate swipe in turn 2 after I coined my cloaked huntress usually ends the game for me, and when they draw their 2 x moonglade portal or 2 x feral age using nourish/raven idol, the extra health and armor are just too much to deal with. As for control wars, if they cannot draw their justicar at turn 6 they die usually, but if they do (just like reno locks who draw reno before turn 6) it is auto loss for me.
it seems like the people in Asia server have all moved to heavy control in order to deal with shamans, and this deck just cannot win consistently against a heavy control meta.
Druid is one of the hardest matchups imho - if they draw their armor, taunts and heals in time you simply cannot win.
Wouldn't bother to coin a Cloaked Huntress on turn 2 vs them. I would nearly never do that (there are indeed situations where you got the Huntress plus the perfect trap in hand). Just use your hero power in this case. In the long term this will give you a higher winning rate.
Man i was 17, now im 8 but, i cant win against zoolock, idk what to do :(
i really want to keep playing this deck till legend, but i can't seem to win anymore, i was having trouble with druids and warrios yesterday, everything else was easy peezy, now i can't win against shamans anymore, always let them with 2 hp 1 hp 3 hp, and loose, they always have every fucking answers to my early minions, and they clear my board and i stay empty handed and die, i really must be doing something wrong against shamans, i think im using my unleash too soon, i probably need to wait a little more, but this is a good deck, the only problem is that it seems easy but don't misjudge it, theres so much decision making
If I wanted to put Ooze in this, is there anything you recommend taking out? I ran 2x Ooze in my pirate warrior and it helped a lot on the way to legend. Thanks!
i like this deck and can go to higher rank, thanks.
but i can't understand unleash the hounds strength.
this spell can't be used cleared board, and less than 2 dogs are not advantage.
why do choose unleash the hounds NOT animal companion?
is changing from unleash the hounds to animal companion not better?
Unleash the Hounds can turn the game around because you mostly go for your opponent's face which allows him to fill his board with minions. By playing Unleash the Hounds you can use his power to your advantage. Also it goes good with Leeroy Jenkins.
Bear trap seems like a good replacement of cat trick, right?
while i do hate that this deck exists i can't argue with the results
Replace 1 argent squire with 1 Swamp ooze and you have a counter-meta top 100 legend deck. I've been legend since season 1, just take my word for it.
Got legend this season and last with traditional secret hunter. But IMO, this deck is better. Secret had a bout a 63% win rate, and im hovering around 70% with this deck. Nice deck mate, one of the first ones ive copied off the net in a while :)
Edit / idea: I personally took out one Tracking and put in one Ironbeak. Little pricey at 3 mana for a face deck but the silence and beast synergy is pretty strong. Owly has actually won me more than a fair few games. Also tracking is just pretty slow. You're never gonna have a full hand of cards with a SMORC deck and I would rather have another tool in my belt to insure lethal as opposed to a possibility to dig for lethal. Plus I mean what are the top tiered decks right now? Deff Shaman, and then probably Warrior. Owl destroys both of these decks and finally lets be honest. No one expects the Scumbag Owl ;)
This might actually be the worst deck anyone has ever made. Basic decks beat this shit
