Not first time legend, but first time legend with Priest.
After a period of trial and error I came to this version of Resurrect Priest. It seemed superior to any other Priest deck I had ever played, so I played it straight from rank 7 to legend with a 69% win rate.
Mulligan Guide
Always keep Injured Blademaster, Auchenai Soulpriest and Priest of the Feast.
If you have any of the above, also keep Resurrect.
If you have Auchenai, also keep Circle of Healing.
If you have Circle, also keep Embrace the Shadow.
Keep Excavated Evil against Shaman, Mage and Warlock.
Shadow Word: Pain:
Always keep it against Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Hunter and Warrior.
Against Druid and Priest keep it only if you already have a good hand.
Never keep it against Rogue and Paladin.

Embrace the Shadow really isn't replaceable when it comes to its mechanic. I really don't like the Shadow Madness suggestion, as it's way to slow and VERY situational.
I'd probably put in one Shifting Shade as it works better with the overall theme of the deck (resurrection). GL and HF!
I used Shadow Word: Horror
Played this deck from rank 4 to rank 7 with an abysmal 39% win rate.
I climbed to rank 3 from rank 15 with priest playing everyday this month, so I feel like i got the basics of rez priest covered
clearly im doing something wrong with this deck, but i dont think the guide is extensive enough for me to find out what went wrong with my playstyle.
Would love to read more on how this deck plays against various matchups.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I will write a more extensive guide as soon as I can.
No Barnes for more resurrect synergy?
There's some good synergy but there's also some bad synergy: Barnes can summon Onyx Bishop and Onyx Bishop can resurrect Barnes. All in all I think Barnes is just not good enough in this deck.
Starting at rank 16, I just hit rank 13, a new record for me. Thought you'd appreciate some stats.
It took me 64 ranked games to rise from 16 to 13. My largest win streak was 6, my longest losing streak was 5. Factoring out the one game in which an opponent forfeit on turn 1, my opponents and win/loss ratio were...
100% -- Rogue (1-0)
75% -- Shaman (6-2)
67% -- Warlock (4-2)
55% -- Druid (6-5)
50% -- Hunter (4-4), Paladin (2-2)
43% -- Warrior (3-4)
38% -- Mage (5-8)
20% -- Priest (1-4)
51% -- Overall (32-31)
I'll drop back at 100 wins and report on how my rank and stats are looking. I'm very much enjoying this deck -- thanks for posting it.
Nice deck! You may want to add a section about card choices though. Also, what do you think of Barnes as a substitute for for Darkshire Alchemist? Without Wild Pyromancer, the number of good pulls increases.
While Barnes can have some nice early game synergy with expensive minions (2 x Bog, 1 x Sylvanas, 1 x Rag), there are still 9 cheap (5 or less mana) minions in this deck that wouldn't be useful to draw. Assuming you replace Darkshire with Barnes, you're only looking at a 1 in 3 chance of getting the sort of minion that you want... and even then the Bog Lurkers would only be useful if you resurrected them. So this doesn't strike me as a viable long-term strategy, otherwise you'd see a lot of other decks playing it. (Great fun in ranks 18-20, but likely not useful higher.)
As for Darkshire Alchemist, it's extremely useful in this deck. Aside from its obvious healing benefits, it's offensive capability with Auchenai Soulpriest or Embrace the Shadows cannot be overstated. The Auchenai + Circle of Healing combo often isn't available or suitable to play (say, if you've got a couple of minions on the board). But Auchenai + Darkshire Alchemist is great for removing minions like Azure Drake while gaining tempo in the process. Priests have so few single-target tempo plays that it's a great help when you can pull this one off.
Bog Creeper Dr.7 NOT just in arena
imagine resurrecting a 6/8 taunt for 2 mana Kreygasm
Lost 3 games in a row due to terrible draw.
I lost 4 games in a row :( in rank 15 to 16 so sad...
i faced you this morning i believe, lol
Any replace for Resurrect?
No. It's a mechanic that cannot be duplicated in a Priest deck other than Onyx Bishop.
Played a deck similar to this, but threw in yogg, giants & barnes. My question is, has anyone tried brann to combo with bishop or alchemist? I think it could be really nice, especially if you have a good amount of control over your res. targets.
Why not combo Brann with Injured Blademaster?
lol yeah!!!
obvi. you would play him after you lose your 2 blademasters
I play a budget version of this deck. I took out the three expensive dust cards Embrace the Shadow, Sylvanas Windrunner, and Ragnaros the Firelord instead going with Medivh, the Guardian and dual Holy Nova.
