Hi this is PAX,
I recently updated the decklist of my beloved and most favourite decklist, the Reincarnate Shaman. As you all know, the current meta is flooded by Pirate decks, despite the Buccaneer nerf, they remain strong and dominate Standard as well as Wild mode.
So what I did was basically shifting the power balance more to mid-game, which many of you guys found the hardest to get to before getting stomped by aggro. Therefore I added 2 Deathlord´s and 2 Infested Tauren´s, never had any problems with the aggro type anymore since then.
However, keep in mind, that besides Pirates n Secret Paladin there are also powerful Reno decks, especially the Reno Mage poses a real challenge, because it has incredibly long breath and clearing potential, especially thanks to freakin Kazakus, aka the omni-polymorpher which mostly ends in a lonely and unsatisfying Zoth drop followed by crying under a cold shower with some chocolate... jk ;-)
Whatever, let´s continue with the...
1) Mulligan
A smart mulligan requires you to know the enemy decktype, naturally vs. aggro you would try to get your Maelstrom Portal, Lightning Storm or Deathlord. Against control types you can try bolder mulligans such as Charged Hammer or Mana Tide Totem which accerlerates your way to late game.
Now we gonna go more into detail about our...
2) Early- and Midgame
Alright, our strategy is to keep constantly clearing the board from threats while remaining control over it, the basic principle of a control archetype. Use Jeweled Scarab depending from what you will be facing. a Healing Wave or even Elemental Destruction in reserve is never bad (especially when you combine it with Hallazeal the Ascended *yummy*).
Little advice: if you are facing any control deck enemy, it immediately shifts the central winning aspect to: who has the longer breath. In other words, avoiding the use of too much card draw, I know the card draw isn´t too strong anyway, but simply keep that in mind.
Also I´d like to mention that your Hero Power will be a nice feature early on, when you need some extra spell damage (although we have Bloodmage Thalnos for that job) but during mid- and lategame you don´t really want to use it anymore, if possible, since the slots are better used with the cards in your deck.
This is also the reason I use Charged Hammer, at some point you simply need a constant supply of damage rather than spamming weak minions onto the board.
Let´s get to the juicy part of this baby aka...
3) Lategame aka let´s get ready to rumble
Handling this properly is the key difference between victory and defeat, especially against other heavy control decks like Reno (ESPECIALLY RENO). Be careful against enemies who have polymorph cards or Kazakus, a recklessly played Zoth can easily be removed. If you cannot finish by using Zoth in general, Kel'Thuzad and Thaddius will be your important backups, so use them wisely.
Finally, here are some of my favourite combos for your lategame:
"One equals two"
Reincarnate + Kel'Thuzad to get a second one, nuff said.
"Do I need glasses or are there 3 Thaddius on the fie- oh well nvm I lost"
Revive Feugen or Stalagg, while one of both is dead (most of the times insta surrender by enemy)
"I will always taunt you":
Backing up Sludge Belcher with Kel'Thuzad, invincible taunt wall, especially if you revive Kel'Thuzad to get a 2nd one.
4) Replaced cards and thoughts
- I decided to remove Barnes and Baron Rivendare, because defending against super aggressive enemies requires to have the exact card in the right moment rather than relying on RNG (even if it´s the strongest in the game) and 2nd because Rivendare is simply too slow in most of my matches. Besides, we don´t really want an accidental double procc on Deathlord, EVER ;-)
- Emperor Thaurissan certainly can be nice, however your combos are not really dependant from mana reduction
- I also took out my Healing Wave´s, because I feels like Hallazeal is making such a better job without having to pray every time that you win the joust to get the 14 health :-P also has a better synergy with Jeweled Scarab
So far, that´s it from my side, leave questions and thoughts in the comment section below and most importanly,
Have fun with the deck!
PAX
Any deck involving Reincarnate gets the "OK" from me! Especially one that is this efficient!
Any Gadgetzan update for this deck ?
Haven´t played wild quite a while, would have to start experimenting first, before I can give you an answer
Hi, wanted to inform you that I updated this guide :-)
Thanks, I will surely be trying this out
I can barely reach mid game with this deck (not talking about late...) any tips/changes that could help ?
Usually this deck can easily be crushed by any deck with good curve/tempo.
Hey brother, whats up.
Wickid deck here, definitely my fav way to play my fav class :) Still missing N'zoth and Sylv but hopefully will have em soon enough. I hope the new expansion when it comes will add some great additions fingers crossed!
Do ya think i could reach legend or atleast 5 with this?
Cheers
P.S. look
Glad you like it, mate :) u definitely need to add Syl and Zoth, they are 2 of your key cards!
I am positive u can reach high ranks with this deck, but u should get Zoth first :P
How about adding Spawn of N'Zoth? His deathrattle is pretty good with Baron Rivendare, and if you get him with N'Zoth, the Corruptor, there are plenty of minions to boost. With Kel'Thuzad every minion that hasn't died can become a powerhouse and Kel'Thuzad himself can become harder and harder to kill.
Of course, the stats are pretty lousy for 3 mana though.
Imo only decent, you usually save Rivendare for triggering ur strong deathrattles like Sylvanas, plus it´s too eas to play around Spawns effect. You won´t want Zoth to revive this card, when you can have several Feugen/Stalagg and so on ;)
Kel Thuzad is definitely one of my fav cards ever and basically any combo in this deck becomes devastating combined with him :)
Won 3 out of 4. As usual, Reincarnate shaman can be a lot of fun. Being patient, I got 3 Thaddius on the board after Priest blew his second Lightbomb. Poor fella.
Edit: 6 wins and 2 losses tonight, on ladder. The Healing Waves are nice and the two Jeweled Scarabs give you a lot of flexibility. It definitely helps to anticipate what removal your opponent is still holding back and play around it. Kel'Thuzad + Reincarnate to get two Kel'Thuzad's is still one of the most fun things you can do in shaman. Well, Sylvanas Windrunner + Reincarnate is pretty close.
That´s how shit is done, glad to hear that it works for you!
pls make a guide for us
I will, at the moment I am a bit busy tho :)
Your wish came true ;)
Wow, this deck is so much fun! One of my favorite deck!
Glad to hear this :)
Totally agree with you :)
I will try that. Thanks.
Nice to hear, tell me, how it was :)
