Hey guys!
Zananananan here, I'm a german Hearthstone player and I'm currently playing for http://www.sfd-gaming.com/. I just wanted to share my Discardlock with you. I played Patron Warrior on the first day to hit rank 4. On the 2nd day the last Karazhan wing came out. I built this deck and hit Legend with it.

Guide:
This deck is usually favored against other Aggro decks, you want to trade as much as possible. Go face against Midrange or Control decks. The key is to realize when you have to go all in and when you can afford to play around AOE.
Let's talk about the placement first. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but it can still win or lose you some games. You always want to maximize the efficiency of Dire Wolf Alpha.
- In general you want big minions, minions with deathrattle or taunt on the side and small minions in the middle.
- Knife Juggler has to be on the side (Taunt or deathrattle doesn't matter). You don't want to trade with him.
- Imp Gang Boss on the left. The Imp's will spawn in the middle.
Mulligan:
I'll talk about the cards you always want to keep first. No matter what you are playing against. After that I'll take a look at specific matchups.
Flame Imp > Voidwalker, Possessed Villager, Malchezaar's Imp > Abusive Sergeant
If you have Silverware Golem and Soulfire or Darkshire Librarian you can consider keeping both. You have a 33% Chance to discard the Silverware Golem on turn 2. If you don't have the coin and you don't have a 1 drop throw everything away. It's okay to play Abusive Sergeant on turn 1 if you don't have something else. I usually don't like keeping Dark Peddler, only keep it if you already have a good hand. Keep Dire Wolf Alpha if you have the coin and 2 1 drops.
Druid:
favored - Darkshire Councilman is fine if you have a 1 drop.
Hunter:
favored - Keep Imp Gang Boss if you a 1 drop. I don't like playing Voidwalker on turn 1 if they have the coin. You still have to play it if you don't have something else. They can coin out Huge Toad. Keep Dire Wolf Alpha if you have Possessed Villager. Keep Houndmaster and Unleash the Hounds in mind.
Tempo Mage:
favored - Keep Imp Gang Boss with a 1 drop, it's good against the Flamewaker. You don't have to play around Flamestrike, most lists aren't running it.
Freeze Mage:
heavily unfavored - Darkshire Councilman if you have a 1 drop. You have to go all in on him having no AOE.
N'Zoth Paladin:
even - Play a bit about Consecration. Darkshire Councilman again if you have 1 drop. Be careful about Doomsayer.
Aggro Paladin:
favored - Keep Imp Gang Boss with a 1 drop.
Priest:
even - Darkshire Councilman is good but it's better to bait for Shadow Word: Pain before playing it. Keep Excavated Evil in mind.
Rogue:
even - Keep Darkshire Councilman or Imp Gang Boss if you have a 1 drop. Avoid playing a 2 health minion on turn 2 if he has the coin (SI:7 Agent).
Aggro/Midrange Shaman:
heavily favored - Imp Gang Boss if you have a 1 drop. Beware Lightning Storm. Soulfire is strong against his Totem Golem.
Control Shaman:
heavily unfavored - Try to find an explosive start, keep Darkshire Councilman with a 1 drop. Kill Wrath of Air Totem.
Zoo:
even - Imp Gang Boss is insane in this matchup. Keep Dire Wolf Alpha if you have Possessed Villager, you can kill Flame Imp or Dark Peddler. You always want to clear his board, he can't use Abusive Sergeant, Power Overwhelming or Defender of Argus this way.
Renolock:
favored - Keep Darkshire Councilman. Don't play around AOE, they only have 1 Demonwrath and 1 Hellfire for early game.
Dragon Warrior:
even - I don't like Voidwalker because of Alexstrasza's Champion. Soulfire is good against Frothing Berserker, Fierce Monkey and Blackwing Corruptor.
Control Warrior:
unfavored - Keep Darkshire Councilman if you have a 1 drop. I like Possessed Villager on turn 1 and coin Darkshire Councilman or Imp Gang Boss turn 2. It plays around Fiery War Axe. Be aware of Brawl, Revenge and Ravaging Ghoul.
Questions
Why aren't you running other discard cards like Succubus or Tiny Knight of Evil?
I wanted to make the deck as consistent as possible.
No Power Overwhelming?
I don't think you need it. Soulfire is good enough.
You are awesome. Thank you for your support!
Fair point. It does use cards from all three adventures, so that does increase the barrier to entry by quite a bit.
I've been waiting for the discard suite to be fully released. Thanks for this write up!
I'm currently 23-10 with the deck and I think the only complaint I have are the Defenders of Argus. I'm thinking of swapping them for Fist of Jaraxxus. I tend to get stuck with a Defender the same time I am ready to play Doomguard or something. I also wouldn't mind more discard cards.
What's your thoughts, have you tried any of the other discard synergy cards and is Defender of Argus super key?
EDIT: So, I went like 3-4 or 4-3 with that change and I decided to go back to the Defenders. They do work better =] (4-0 after changing back, so I'm 27-10 now with it at rank 8)
As much as I dislike playing aggro decks, I must say that not only is this deck fun, but it does take a little bit of skill to play correctly. I appreciate the guide and write up, it's very helpful, I was mulligan-ing all the wrong cards before.
I went from 18 (from playing sub-par non-meta decks) to 12, in a few hours of play, with like a 12-13 straight win streak.
It seems unfair because of how cheap the deck is to craft. I destroy shamans, paladins, mages, and priests. So far it seems the toughest matches come from warriors, druids, and rogues. The worst so far, are hunters. Every hunter I've encountered, I've lost. They seem to outrace the face damage. Trading minions doesn't seem to work either.
Just got to 8, from 18, in 2 days.
Last couple losses have come from a mage, who had every spell, for every situation.
And a warrior, which is mostly due to not having a fast enough start. I drew two 3 drops and a 1, mulliganed, and drew both Doomguards. lol
As for me I allways a fan of mid-range deck splaystile and even on zoo I was playing as board control centric before.
But according to discard vs. hunter mutchups now I got that faceroll with single control moments (say kill single hunter minion without deathrattle spawn, like Huffer, Leok, Huntres, ignore deathrattle wolf or Highmane) is a really way to go. Now I'm getting near 50-50 for hunter matchups.
I think you just have to play your best, put all your tougher minions out first (imp gang, darkshire council) before your 1 and 2 drops. Don't overcommit on turn 5 for warrior. Don't drop alot of 1 and 2 drops on turn 4 against paladin. If they don't play consecration or brawl on those turns, throw it all out there, go for face, make favorable trades, and pray.
Works for me.
Great deck!
Im just a Rank 15 noob but its still a lot of fun to play, and i feel like i might be able to climb to higher ranks with this deck.
I had similar success.
Amazing deck! Got me from 19 to 12 with a 24-13 w/l
Tried -Knife Juggler -Flame Imp +Power Overwhelming +Tiny Knight of Evil won me a few more games after that
Thanks for the deck, changed knife jugglers to argent squires and its more consistent now, cause jugglers werent performing well.
The jugglers work perfectly for me.
I think it's all about how you play them. In fact, they seem to be the difference between losing and winning for me. For instance, if they play a minion with taunt, and it takes 4 minions to remove that minion, if i play a knife juggler, and a few 1 drops, it might get me in range where I only need to sacrifice 2 minions to remove the taunt.
Just my opinion.
Why not use Lee roy?
i fucking hate this game, i dont understand how my opponet can always have the perfect fucking answers whenever i play zoo. but when im against this shit, i cant fucking win.
This deck is decent, but I'm currently crashed by the new midrange shaman.
Storm, portal, weapon, taunts -> FeelsBadMan
Interesting stuff. I missed lethal few times with doomguard not playing it from hand next to the wolf, but randomly. as well as not used to soulfire. quite a few times i got soulfire and two doomguards in hand.
Now i really think zoo is so good even at top level as you can play many games with it, put ooze or not in etc etc. Druid, very hard, although i was just messing around and making 10 5 trees, it takes a lot of planning and time.
Midrange hunter.
Mulligan for stickier minions,on turn 4 trade in a way so the only shit on board is like the darkshire, imp gang and flame imp, you always have to play it so your board sticks before and after an aoe, this also helps with doomsayers out of nowhere :D
Dont have Imp Gang Boss ;(
I know its realllly great
I use Harvest Golem instead
Any better idea?
Harvest Golem was the old Imp Gang Boss before he came. It's not the same effect, but still very good. Golem is still the best choice.
