Hello! My name is KevinStar, I'm a experienced hearthstone player. This is my first uploaded deck that did get so much support so thank you ! With the new cards from One Night in Karazhan (exept Purify) we resurrected Priest to a certain degree. So let's get right into the news...I mean deck
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
You can use Barnes to ressurect Auchenai Soupriest to use it with circle combo or even with the Flash Heal.
Be careful with Auchenai Soulpriest and Priest of the Fiest. Some people would say why run both of them but the Priest of the Feast can boost you life very high and the Auchenai Soulpriest is very important for clearing the board with your heals.
Your Nțzoth, The Corruptor will spawn more deathrattles when you resurrect your deathrattle minions. So you get more value for that
STRATEGY
- Early game: You really need to draw Injured Blademaster or Barnes. If you are playing against a zoo or an aggro deck you should considering Keeping circle of Healing and Auchenai Soulpriest.
Circle of Healing is a good card to keep becouse it has combos both with Auchenai Soulpriest and Injured Blademaster - Mid / End Game: After your minions died (ex Injured Blademster Priest of the Feast,Auchenai Soulpriest and the minion spawned from Barnes)you can start to get value from your resurrect cards.Keep in mind the board clears! You have the end game power Nțzoth, The Corruptor
MATCHUPS & MULLIGANS
-
WARRIOR - Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing,Barnes. Versus Control it is important that you dont play into his Brawl. You should get some pressure early on with some tempo Resurrection.Versus Dragon you need your board clears Excavated Evil being very good against your opponent's minions
-
MAGE - Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing,Barnes. Versustempo mage it is important to get the Pain early to kill the minions to not get beat downIt is a hard matchup but you need tomake some tempo turns.
-
Paladin -Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing,Barnes
-
Shaman -Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing, Auchenai Soulpriest
-
Rogue: -Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing, Auchenai Soulpriest
-
Priest: - Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing, Auchenai Soulpriest, Barnes
-
Hunter --Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing, Auchenai Soulpriest
-
Druid --Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing,, Barnes
- Warlock--Shadow Word: Pain, Injured Blademaster, Priest of the Fiest, Circle of Healing, Auchenai Soulpriest
You can replace 2xEntomb with 2xWild Pyromancer if you want more power vs aggro. But I think maybe 1 Pyromancer it is ok
This is a video from someone that asked me if I can post his video,so you can watch some games here:
Great Barnes synergy
A Druid did that to me and I lost it.
I'm 8 wins straight with this deck... Rank 18-15 with no losses.... Beat shaman, warlock, Mage, priest, and rogue. THE priest deck I always wanted. Takes some skill to play, but once you figure it out... It's amazing.
Wow, a win streak from rank 18 to 15.. please tell us more about this "skill" you speak of, I am sure we are all dying to know...
178 upvotes no guide 😒
Appreciate that people are style trying to 'resurrect' priest :)
Not a bad deck. Personally, i think that a resurrection priest deck is better off limiting the selection of minions in the deck to those that that are quite valuable; equally or more valuable when brought back as well.
I don't like Auchenai Soulpriest in this type of deck for a couple reasons. One is that i like Priest of the Feast and the sustainability it brings, allowing you to stand more of a chance as the game progresses to kind of make up for some shitty early-games.I shouldn't have to mention that these cards do no belong in the same deck.
Second, if you start playing Resurrect and Onyx Bishop having played a soulpriest, you then have the chance of that minion being brought back rather than something that can allow you to heal or control the board further. Don't get me wrong, you can use soulpriest to combo healing effects to remove minions, but eventually you will need to heal yourself. If you can't control when this minion is on the board at points throughout the game, i just don't like that.
In my own deck i chose to include only the following minions
Priest of the Feast x2
Onyx Bishop x2
Shifting Shade x2
Wild Pyromancer x1
Injured Blademaster x2
Barnes
Cairne Bloodhoof
Sylvanas Windrunner
N'Zoth, the Corruptor
Arcane Giant x2
My reasoning is this, when i use a resurrection effect, what will be the most valuable outcome? How can i manipulate this random effect? By limiting and manipulation which minions die, and/or at what time.
The worst minion of all of these to resurrect in my opinion would be Onyx Bishop or Barnes. Not terrible at 3/4, but not optimal either. That said, it is not very likely you will resurrect a bishop until at least after turn 5, and it is still unlikely because usually you want a minion to die before you try to resurrect (duh) + once you resurrect a minion that died, that means if it is more threatening and it is targeted first and dies a second time, the odds of resurrecting that minion again are now increased.
You may also not often see barnes resurrected for the same sort of reasoning, with the addition of the bonus 1/1 he creates dying and allowing for it to be resurrected as well, possibly without barnes even dying right away. This is another reason i am not a fan of Auchenai Soulpriest as well as Loot Hoarder in this deck; i don't really want to see an unexpected soulpriest. Extra card draw might be decent with loot hoarder i suppose, but then it will muddy the resurrection pool with loot hoarder. Not a minion i want to bring back to the board with one of my resurrection effects.
The best strategy i have formulated is to make it top priority to get one Injured Blademaster on board (and dead) by turn 3 or 4. From here, the game gets much easier because you can confidently know that this is the only minion that died in this case if you have a Resurrect in hand, and proceed to get value. If you are able to repeatedly resurrect Injured Blademaster, it mean he will have died many more times than other minions, and it is most probably you will get another each time, which is very good.
You also can't go wrong with the legendaries. Maybe N'Zoth, the Corruptor is not idea, but a 5/7 is still not bad at all. You aren't likely to come to this either as you wouldn't be playing this card until late in the game. As well, if/when you start creating duplicates of the deathrattle minions, it also increases the value of n'zoth when you finally get around to playing it. Barnes is the best when the deathrattle minions are copied.
For the Arcane Giants, i thought it would be good synergy with the spells included to trigger Priest of the Feast as they will in turn reduce the cost of these 8/8 bodies, and then who doesn't like to possibly resurrect an 8/8?!
Of course, these are my strategies and opinions, but i thought it would be interesting to share it here. If you are at all interested in the complete decklist for this strategy you should not have a problem finding it on my deck page.
You seem to have very similar ideas we were discussing over on Reddit.
I think you should totally make a guide of your thoughts/version of the deck! Thanks for the comment. :-)
Edit: I see you make a lot of decks, actually! Awesome. Your 'Mass Ressurekt' priest guide is exactly what I was hoping to find. Thanks again!
Hey, cool! I will check out that reddit. Hope you enjoy to play that list, i have a lot of fun with it :)
I should perhaps re-purpose this wall of text as part of a guide for that deck.
I think that priest needs the soulpriests + CoH to stand a chance against all the aggros out there though
Wild Pyromancer can be very effective. I don't disagree; It is a very effective board clear. However, it does not benefit the strategy of a resurrect priest quite as much.
Completely agree with your opinion, running this deck a lot at the moment and loving it. The ideal scenario is as you have described for resurrect, either a Barnes 1/1 death rattle or an IBM. Loving this deck, feels unique and powerful, obviously needs further refinement.
Also, forgot to add that the Arcane Giants are brilliant with all the spells in this deck. Every control spell used adds to an extremely cheap 8/8 later in the game, with potential to pull the Arcane from Barnes and resurrect it multiple times.
I don't run any Res spells thus far and have tried to keep it to Bishop only, over the ~20 games I have played I have only lost to Aggro Shammy (who doesn't) and another similar Priest deck.
Totally! Arcane Giant is one of my favourite cards of the new set. Priest generally uses a lot of important spells, and the fact that you can play cheap 8/8 minions later on for just playing cards you would play anyway is awesome. It is one of the reasons i also like running the Resurrect spell.
Another reason is that it can be played much earlier than Onyx Bishop, allowing for things like turn 2 coin/turn 3 Injured Blademaster into turn 3/4 Resurrect (assuming they remove it, which almost always is the case). The fact that you can resurrect it that early and force a ton of pressure as well as resurrect up to 4 more (which is very likely if it's the first minion you play and multiply it in the res pool).
Anyway, have fun!
Sylvanas Windrunner is kind of essential in priest these days. You need some control on the board and she will cause the oppenent to change plays if she is on the board.
That is true. Essential in many control-style decks. It is really one of the best neutral cards. Should be at the top of everyone's crafting list.
Great points here. Personally, I too prefer priest of the feast over Auchenai, since a lot of the times you're up against aggro, and you're mostly looking for something powerful to bring onto the board which will enable you to survive better.
I was running two loot hoarders in my list, however soon realised just how much negative impact it had on later turns when it kept being resurrected. I think I lost a control matchup against a Reno Mage solely because of a crap ton of hoarders being brought back over and over again. And with N'zoth as well.
Yep it was my first crafted legendary too :)
What do you think if we use Forbidden Shaping instead of Arcane Giant?
We can play it early if we need a minion to stop aggro, and against Control we can hold onto it to produce something big. We don't have to worry about it being a dead card ever, it's a spell for Priest of the Feast, and can even be used to trigger Wild Pyromancer if you're desperate.
I swapped Loot Hoarder out of this deck after losing a matchup due to it clog up my Deathrattle andResurrect. My N'zoth summoned 4 Loot Hoarders, which then proceed to mill the living daylight out of me. Sure, Forbidden Shaping can give you crap minions too, but it most likely won't be something as bad as Hoarder for Fatigue orResurrect.
I cant understand why so much Players use Auchenai comob in Resurrect Priest.
Pyromancer works so much better.
